Hi everyone,
My 4 year old Dell Inspiron 8000 won't boot! I reinstalled Windows XP as I do semiannually and everything was fine. About 2 hours later I noticed that Windows was only recognizing 256Mb worth of Ram out of my 2 sticks of 512Mb for a total of 1024Mb; even in the BIOS it was...
I have the SN25P and love it, awesome sys! I built mine (see sig) for about $1000; all parts were purchased from NewEgg. At the end of the year when the new dual core AMD cpus are out I'll be able to buy a 939 socket FX55 for $150 and install that in my SN25P, haha. I don't know about your RAM.
No! You'll kick yourself in the ass when you try to use this old, slow POS. Spend a few hundred more and buy a new laptop from Dell or someone else. You'll get a warranty, a bigger screen, and you won't tear your ligaments out trying to kick yourself in the ass.
Hey everyone. I have the SN25P that I bought and used in the US, connected to 120 VAC, 60 Hz. Now I'm working in Europe and will be using my SN25P here. All the info that I can find shows that the SN25P is capable of using dual voltage but I can't find any info about whether or not the SN25P...
I've never owned one of the older Shuttle models so I can't offer you a comparison; I can tell you that for all practical purposes my 2 week old SN25P is silent, you barely know that it's on. It makes some noise on boot but it's silent after that. I love it. I hope this helps.

I finally put the guts into my new beast, the SN25P and fired it up. Loaded Windows XP Pro with no problems, it recognized my WD 250GB SATA HD ok without installing any extra drivers. Damn it takes forever to format a 250GB HD! After letting it run for a few minutes I started loading...

New Egg has some awesome shipping and handling, it got here in only 2 days not counting Sunday!
I counted on being able to easily transport this in my carry-on luggage due to the dimensions listed on the Newegg website. I was surprised to discover that it's much larger than stated on the New...
Hey guys, my SN25P should be here today. I will be installing a 250Gb WD SATA HD. Does it automatically recognize a HD larger than 137Gb or will I need to do something extra to get it to recognize the HD? Thanks.
Yes jamautosound, it will be my only HD. I have another HD laying around that I might install later this month to use for data backup, an IDE Western Digital 40GB.
I've ordered my SN25P from NewEgg today along with the rest of the giblets needed to bring it to life but I have a question for you experts before working on it. I've never used an SATA HD before and I'm wondering if I need to do anything special to get the OS (XP Pro) to recognize the SATA HD...
Usually when thieves steal this biometric secured laptop they cut off both hands of the owner so that they can turn the thing on; do yourself a favor and let them know which finger to cut off. :)

Thanks everyone for the great advice! Do you guys notice much difference running a HD on SATA? I'm now definately leaning toward an Athlon centered system and due to you unanimous opinions it WILL be housed in a Shuttle box. :) What about the new PCI Express, is it something that I should...
I'm reading the AnandTech Half-Life 2 CPU performance review right now and I'm now seriously considering going with AMD. I'm not too worried about fan noise as I plan on having the speakers cranked up to liver/giblet threatening levels while I'm playing, or using a headset. :) Is there some...
Thanks, guys! This is EXACTLY the type of info that I need! I should have stated my needs in my first entry. The only reason I'm building this is to have a small gaming rig that will fit in my carry on luggage; my Dell Inspiron 1Ghz laptop is getting old and won't run what I need. My new SFF...
Hi my new forum friends! Ok, my first post here is a big one. I'm planning on starting my first "small form factor" build next week and I need your expert advice. Question 1. The parts listed below are what I'm planning on using, if you see anything that doesn't look right, could be improved...
