I had an xp1700 I just upgraded for under $200.
Regor 240 AMD $61
Asrock 780gmh MB $60
HyperX 2x1GB ddr2 1066 $40
380 watt Raidmax PS $20
It's running 3.5 GHz stable with the IGP running at 725MHz (500 stock).
That was my 'on the cheap' upgrade.
Okay, it seems the setting "flexibility option" which is supposed to help with memory stability does so by running the FSB to DRAM at 1:1. Disabled it and now it's at 1:2 and my memory speed is double which the SANDRA memory benchmark seems to validate!
I have the Asrock 780gmh/128 with Regor 240, clocked at 245x14 (3430). I have 2x1GB HyperX DDR2 1066 which I have set in bios to 533/1066. The issue is that it shows up as 245MHzx2 in SANDRA, CPUID and AMD overdrive. Any insight on what's going on here?
Thank you.
I've noticed from looking around, that all the info. on this card in AGP trim seems to ultimately be based on an article from The Inquirer. Is there any first hand info. on this card in AGP from other sources?
I'm looking harder now at the Apollo 6800NU which seems to have the 16/6...
I would like to know how to do it too as I'm thinking about this card as an AGP upgrade to my rig. Did you simply overclock and then unlock it through Rivatuner?
Yeah, the 6800NU might be the safest bet. I was thinking the 6800XT might be a sleeper that could be unlocked to 16/6 at which point it would be a bargain. If it's an NV40, I'm thinking those 16 pipes might be there waiting to be unlocked...
I currently have an Ti4200 and am looking at an upgrade (obviously). I'm a casual gamer but would like to get NFS-MW and Oblivion when it comes out. I've read in one forum where a 6800XT owner unlocked his 8/4 product to a 16/6 config. Info. on this card seems slim on the net. With a retail...
Thanks Cruzlite! The whole process was quick and painless. Haven't tested the key yet but I'm not too worried about it not working--might test it on my backup disk.
Cruzlite, did you have to pay any fee for MS support? The only info. I found on their website listed phone support at $245 and up. I need free if possible. Do you by chance still have the number you phoned?
Thanks!
I have a legit, original copy of the Win2000 Server and cannot find the the CD key anywhere. How do I go about getting a legit new/replacement one? Also I do not have it installed anywhere so if there's a method of looking it up, it won't help me.
Thanks.
From MS MovieMaker2(I'm assuming that's what you have), import the video you want to use. It should show a pic of the 1st frame--click on it to highlight. Click the play button on the preview player on the right side of your window. You should see a "take picture" button on the left side of...
I'm currently using my system, among other things, for recording digital video, storing CD's as MP3's and converting MP3 files to .wav for play on my cars CD player. I have Nero 5.5 Express that came with a CD writer I bought 2 months ago and was thinking about upgrading it to Nero 6.0 ultra...
Actually, the entire legal basis for the war was the enforcement of the original, and subsequent, resolution(s) for Iraq to disarm. You can argue whether 1441 was working or not, but that's not even the issue. The issue is the U.S. administration believed 12 years with 17 (or whatever it is)...
Yes, there's a big difference between a card good for gaming and good for 3D rendering. I'm no expert but maybe I can at least get this thread started. In a nutshell, most gaming cards are designed for rapidly moving (high frame-rates), simple 3D objects (objects built from few...
You could try making a ram disk and putting the page file on it. I don't think 352MB's is all that much for W2k assuming you have part of that used for a paging file though.
Try turning off and reseting the CMOS via the jumper. In the future, I suggest booting with a floppy then running the bios flash. Also if your MB has a bios flash jumper, you will want to set it to enable flashing...then set it back when finished.
Okay, figured out what went wrong. You that bios flash jumper they put on MB's? Well, I forgot to set it for the flash. I did, after pulling everything out and clearing the CMOS again, get it to put off of a floppy...so I reflashed and now it's okay. WHEW...!
Thanks for the insight though...
I had the same problem....fixed it by removing all PCI cards and adding them back 1 by 1 until I found the right combination of what card had to go in what slot. My system was fine after that. Hint: It usually helps to leave the slot next to the AGP port free (if it has an AGP port). Also...
I recently flashed my MSI-ms6309 version1 from bios v1.7 to 1.8. After booting from a boot disk and running the flash utility, the bios flashed and I recieved a message saying that the flash was successful. Upon rebooting, I got 3 beeps...afterwards, the systems wouldn't boot...or even post...
Yeah, Bitboyz is still around. Heard their staff has gone from 3 to around 40 in the last 12 months. All I can say is someone at Bitboyz is doing a great "sales job" to keep their financial backing flowing this long. Heck, they don't even have any working silicon as far as I know.
I always find it funny how the uninformed are quick to find a problem with a chip that's prefectly good for the use it will have. I'm kinda surprised he didn't tell you, "you need to get a 1.2 GHz Athlon and over-clock it like crazy!!".
Anyway, I'm assuming that the board was out...
While I haven't run 384MB's on this machine yet (I have a 256MB stick on the way though), I like to "Alt"/"Tab" from time to time when in games to check total memory usage (physical and virtual) under Win 2000. While running a variety of games (SC-3000, Serious Sam test...
I know what you mean, MG....I will not order a Radeon until new Win 2000 drivers are released (assuming they bring performance up to Win 9.x levels). With the NT kernel being the future for OS's, I hope ATI recognizes that Win 2000 performance is vital for the future.
Good topic! I've noticed this in FPS type games....namely Q3 and realMyst3D. UT gives me no problems though. I'm thinking the motion sickness might have to do with choppiness in some games as I've never noticed it in games when my frame rate was high. The fact I'm running a Voodoo3 (still)...
One option might be to get the 32MB DDR Radeon and use the $$$ savings to get a Celery-2/566 and a slocket (and overclock it, of course). The 64MB version is only marginally faster in the AIW version (I think)...which is clocked at 183/183 versus all other configurations which are 166/166. I...
Do you have another PS to hook your components to in order to see if the orginal PS is faulty? I had a problem like yours....mine was caused from 2 NIC's that were picky about the PCI slot they were in (doesn't sound like that's your problem though).
See if you can check the PS....also, check...
I saw a link on here a few weeks ago from a member who had built a MP3 player for their car using an old PC, an inverter, an LCD, numerical keypad and a few other odds and ends. I've searched the forums but I can't find it so if anyone has a link with some plans on how to build one, I'd love...
