Thanks for the replies--can't do a pc upgrade anytime soon. I'm looking for something that will reliably let me capture streaming video using Camtasia or something like it. I'll check out the links--i like the idea of spending less than $100 :) It sucks that my $300 video card from a few yrs...
I just picked up a 2407wfp to go alongside my 2405. Now I need the best video card I can get without being overkill for my older system (in my sig). This will mostly be for video--amd specifically video capture. (well, maybe a little for games). I notice a lot of stuttering with my current...
I've had my 2405 for a few years and have been really happy with it. I'm looking for another 24" to go alongside it for not too much money. The ST2410 is on sale for under $200. Would that be a good match? Which one gives a better picture? I'm also looking for a good two monitor stand for...
I'm looking to buy a card for a friend w/in the hour. I'm looking at around the $50 mark--no gaming or anything so looking for a pretty basic card. Both of these are about the same price--which would you recommend? Thanks!
Couple o' questions for you:
I've got old school 550s in my HT right now and haven't gotten around to upgrading the X-over. Did you buy the MKIIs or make them yourself (and if so, how much of a difference did you notice before and after)?
How much of a difference in watching movies do you...
Great price--plus VE is a really good (safe) place to buy. Of course these aren't out yet so we'll have to cross our fingers on how much better they are than current gen
I've got my HTT multi at 3x already. My ram timings are set at 2.5-3-2-5 (from the default 2-3-2-5). Other than those main timings, there are some settings sitting on auto, but I have no idea what to hard set them to. Any advice? Thanks again
I dropped the HTT to 246 so I'm running 2.46 at 1.4V. I just hit a little over 92K on Aquamark, but am still under 7K on 3DMark05 (which is still below my pre-OC score). My Opty is a CCBWE 0536 which I knew wasn't one of the best ones but I still expected to hit 2.6 on stock. I have a 5/6...
I think I did that correctly already--I was able to get the cpu up to 2.6, but that was at 1.525V and I didn't feel comfortable w/ the temps or that much voltage so I backed it off. I was only able to get the ram up to 210 MHz with the default timings and a VDimm of 2.7. Once I loosened the...
I'm in the middle of my first OC with a 170 that I bought a little over a year ago and am now finally getting around to OC it. I've had the CPU at a little over 2.4 GHZ (from 2.0) at 1.375v. I was expecting to be able to hit 2.6 at stock so I'm a little disappointed.
My results from an HTT...
If I can't find an entertainment center that'll hold my 200 and that matches my rockets when I upgrade my tv(it's 12 inches high so there are few that do), I'll probably get a tv stand like this. It supports 100lbs so it should be safe for the monster center
The 760s are the replacement for the 750s and the 450s are the replacement for the 550s. When I got my 550s, there were some people who preferred the sound of the 550s over the 750s for HT mostly due to the increased driver size on the 550s--this helped me justify not spending the extra $ for...
Anyone thinking about getting a decent setup should seriously consider the 760/200/300 setup for $2100. I realize that's a big chunk o' change, but that setup will sound so much better than the $ spent. I have a step down system from that: 550/200/150 that I got a few years ago and have no...
I would vote for the n52. I've had the n50 for a couple of years and can't imagine gaming w/out it--the only thing that would make it better would be more buttons (which the n52 has). Get it and don't look back!
I just installed this a couple of hours ago on my BFG 7800GT and can't believe the difference it made. It's much quieter than the old leaf blower and my temps are great. 46 to 41 C on idle (not great), but 72 to 57 under load. I was hoping for a 10 deg drop, but 15?! My AS5 hasn't even sat...
Thanks for the replies. I did a bit of searching and found that a car can get up to 160 degrees (71 C) in the summer (this will be located inside of a large news truck) so if you tack on another 20C or so, it's getting pretty dangerous. Plus, these are just your typical work computers w/ no...
I'm looking to see what an approximate case temp will be for a computer that will be running in an enclosure outside. The room temps will be 110-120F and I need to get a good guestimate for what the interior temps will be running. Is there a calculator that will do this based on room temps? I...

I haven't flashed my drive yet so I don't have any advice on the best vers., but let us know if you find one that works well
I was in the same boat and ended up going with the 2405 (it can still be had for $639). With the problems of this first batch of 2407s plus the time it'll take before they drop to under $800 outweighed the benefit of HDCP--get the 2405!
Check out slickdeals.net --You need to buy a 30% off coupon on ebay for ~$10 which kind of sucks, but I did it last night and should get my new 2405 on Thursday! I was waiting for the 2407 (like everyone else in the free world), but 1 great 2405 deal + bad prelim reviews of the 2407 + the time...
My temps are ok--I just wanted to see how cool I could get the case before I started overclocking. Plus, I had room by my video card for the slot cooler to get rid of a little more heat if they worked--which I'm starting to think they don't!
I saw that, but it seems the Kama Bay might be...
Maybe I'll pass on it--I would hate to drill a hole in my case window, but I'll see what temps I get after I put in the vid cooler. I'm going to try one of these Kama Bay and see if that helps. What kind of temps are you getting (I've got an Opty 170 and BFG 7800GT as well). Also, how do you...
I was going to put it next to my video card--I was thinking that once I put the vf900 in, the card would be cooler, but that area would have more heat buildup and this might help to exhaust it--no?
I figure it's only $10 so it's worth it if it drops my temps a few degrees. I've got a Big Typhoon for my cpu cooler and just got a vf900 to cool my 7800gt
I've had my V1000 for a couple of months and love it, but I want to get my cooling straight before I start overclocking. Has anyone had any luck with slot coolers like this AOCAOC
Will it give a decent extra amount of exhaust or does the extra fan noise outweigh the benefits. I really like...
When I went directly to the site looking for another deal, I saw the price was $39. I went to Pricewatch to check if there were better deals, saw it for $37.77 there and clicked the link for ewiz and got it for that price. When I looked in my shopping cart, the one listed for $37 had a [PW] in...
This is probably more cooling than I need (of course who can have too much cooling?!), but I just saw this deal VF900 at ewiz.com and had to jump on it. Btw--my first hot deal post!!
