Minimum should not be set to 2. I think what happens there is that when you first boot windows, it only allocates 2mb of disk space for the pagefile. Then when more pagefile is needed is has to allocate more space, up to the maximum.
I usually set the minimum value=maximum value so that there...
You should really try to find someone to help you order the parts and put it together. You would be much better off that way. You could definately get enough advice here about what components you need to order and there isn't a single person that should be scared of getting inside a comptuter...
I feel your pain. Although I've heard a pretty funny ska group on the morning radio show I listen to. They are called Johnny Socko and the song was about truck drivers.
Hilarious - but it a totally obnoxious ska kinda way. I don't see how anyone could seriously get into the genre
I know how you feel pal.
I'm a short and thin guy who used to work out obsessively. I was always really thin and tried to beef up but I never got past 120lbs. I got pretty cut and had some pretty nice pecs myself....Then I got married, started doing computer support, and was extremely lazy...
netsh
useful for network config scripts
netsh interface ip set address local static 192.168.XXX.XXX 255.255.255.0 192.168.XXX.XXX 1 (sets the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway. HINT: replace the X's : )
netsh interface ip set dns local static 192.168.XXX.XXX primary (sets your primary...
I have a Radeon 9600 - non pro that just has a heatsink on the GPU, no heatpipes or anything fancy and I think it's comparable if not better than a TI4200. The 9600 would definately be better in games like HL2.
I'm not sure how the local security policy compares to the group policy but you might try clicking on start>run and typing secpol.msc
This will bring up the local policy editor (you can also find it in the administrative tools.)
Expand the Local Policies folder and then select the User...
If the tower gets very hot on top it might be the PSU overheating. I had a PSU fan die on me and I thought the top of my case was going to melt. You can replace a PSU fan, just be sure to leave the PSU unplugged overnight so that the capacitors lose some of their charge.
Check to make sure...
If you are running an athlon 64 CPU and using arctic silver 5 my suggestion is to follow the directions as best you can. The first time I applied it I did it the old style as mentioned above where you apply a THIN layer on the entire surface of the cpu....
Well, then next time I tried to...
check your FSB and Multiplier settings in the bios.
The FSB should be set to 133 and the multiplier should be 13.5. Sounds like the multiplier is only set to 10. When I bought an a7n8x and an athlon xp2500 I had to change this value because it was also running at 1ghz or something wierd like...
There aren't many applications that are going to take advantage of the 64 bit memory space. You more than likely won't notice a difference. I couldn't agree more about the BLOAT.
And I also can't stand the idiot windows treatment either. They should have a question in the setup dialog when...
Fron the pheonix/award website...
Phoenix does not supply AwardBIOS upgrades.
Please contact the motherboard manufacturer or eSupport for information on AwardBIOS upgrades.
My guess is that if ASUS hasn't updated it on their website, they probobly haven't released a new bios.
I'm not sure if you noticed the front page article or not...

Some games will run if you just copy the program folders. Some programs will do the same. Just recreate your shortcuts and your good to go. It all depends on the program. I think it pretty much depends on whether or not that program uses the registry for storing certain configuration settings...
Is that a serious question???
You'll notice a pretty big difference!
Here is a great CPU benchmark reference....

I linked directly to the video encoding benchmarks.

I have a somewhat glossy black textured mousepad that I had to start using because my optical mouse was leaving little marks on my cheapo computer desk. Everyonce in a while the mouse just seems to flip out and it never did that on the desk. I would suggest something with a dull surface.
Don't you have to have a router to share the internet connection? Something that does NAT so that you can use your non-public IP's on the inside and route the internet traffic out through the same IP? I know my terminology is probobly really goofy. I just don't understand how that would work if...
Diplomacy is a great game. Think of it like Risk. Except with no dice...so no luck is really involved. The only bad thing is that you need a lot of time, and seven people. You can play with less but its not as much fun. We used to play over lunch at work (nerds) and it took a few weeks to play...
If you know anyone else with a dell computer and XP who has one. They could probobly make you a copy with no problems. I think it would still be legal???(probobly not) as long as you have the OEM product key that came with your PC.
Anyone had any good experiences with the beta? Seems like of all the reviews I read, there doesn't seem to be any big hurry to migrate even if you are already on a 64bit processor because Apps just don't take advantage of the larger memory address space.
X800se has a 128bit memory bus width. Memory frequency is 800mhz.
the X800XL has a 256 bit memory bus width and a memory frequency of 980mhz. - a much more powerful card
Try everest home edition. It shows me my CPU temp, motherboard, hard drive, just about everything that has a sensor. Worked just as well on my old A7n8x as it does on my skt754 MSI.

I think 15mm is the thinnest you will find....more expensive it seems.
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/fansandmore.html
There is a listening room where you can here the fan and see how loud it is but I didn't see the 15mm on the sound list.
Raptors have a 5 year warranty, but no hard drive is perfect so there are always going to be defective ones. I put a 74gb model into a workstation and I didn't find it to be very loud. But with 6 fans in the system, noise doesn't really matter too much to me!
I think all of the a7n8x deluxes will now support the 200mhz FSB...Depending on what revision your board is, you may just need to flash the bios. I had a revision 1.04 until it died recently but I only had a 2500 so I'm not %100 sure about that.
I've got one with a 2.4ghz celeron in it that works great for my wife. All she does is surfs the web and checks e-mail. I wouldn't buy one for my primary system. The power supply is a big setback.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think shuttle PC's use Micro ATX? I think they are ITX or...
I'm not sure how much of an impact memory speed would have on video rendering. But editing apps seem to be pretty memory intensive. The programs would probobly be a bit more responsive.
Athlon 64's are really going to take advantage of higher memory speeds and low latencies. You would...
I don't think rubbing alcohol will damage any PCB, and it works just as good. The higher the alcohol purity the better. I think you can find some stuff < 90%.
