Well I think I did everything correctly but unfortunately I'm greeted with a psychodelic pattern of floating boxes that are multicolored.
I'll still keep plugging away at it but I'm no longer as confident as I was ;-(
Thanks so much to those that have helped and especially Overheating.
PERFECT!
THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU!
I will hack on it tomorrow and let you know if I succeeded or failed. Thanks again. I didn't expect such a quick response last night - sorry for the delay.
Thanks Andres3605 and Overheating.
You've answered the question about the resistor value being zero. I can make that jumper now.
The other photos aren't as clear,
Andres3605 - it's just too far out
Overheating - your photo is EXACTLY what I was hoping for except that the area in...
I can give you an address to send $$ if you'd like.
What?! No phone number.
Seriously though, I thought this was a community of enthusiasts and I KNOW there are a bunch of 9700/9800 readers and I can't believe that nobody has 10 minutes to take a photo and send it to me.
I guess...
A little help please...
C'mon, I know there are 9800 owners out there that have visited this link. Please take the 10 minutes to snap a macro photo and send it to me. I will be eternally in your debt ;-D
While Tiger screws waiters/waitresses because of his cause he doesn't do the right thing so I'm not so sure he's REALLY doing it because of his cause.
If Tiger feels so strongly about his cause that he's willing to see a waiter/waitress go without pay and therefore lose money because of him...
As an engineer who has worked and is now pursuing a PhD I like to
1) keep things simple
2) fix the TRUE problem and not use "band-aids" which is very much contrary to what most people do
3) use logic
Over the course of this administration (and others) I have learned that the perceived...
good points guys but remember this...
It is an XP MOBILE which means cooler running AND a 512MB cache. Please let me know if this changes your opinions.
Let's see, the looks of an Apple, the ability to dual-boot, and the ability to run Windows - yeah, I'd say they are now a threat.
Remember this, as PCs drop to the $200-$300 range and with the current generation of PC purchasers recalling that they've spent up to $2000-$3000 on computers then...
There's that great deal at outpost for the $90 mobo and processor combo
http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4705559
and I'm not sure if it's worth "upgrading" to the sempron 64 as I'm running my CPU at just about 2Ghz right now with 512kb of cache. I'm also in love with my Abit NF7 (I...

Hey guys,
A friend gave me his 9800 card after trying to volt mod it and he buggered up the PCB pretty good. I'm looking for some information on where traces go and there is a resistor that he broke too so I'm looking for the numerals printed on top and possibly a resistance check.

Buy! I've built for 10yrs but I can't see doing it anymore. Not when OD was dumping Emachines D-6405 systems for $300 AR w/15" LCDs. That's a 3000+ A64 system w/512MB of RAM and a DVD burner. It would have cost me TWICE that to build. It had SATA headers, front Firewire ports, USB ports...
Yup, I'm the same way ArchAngel. I used to want to be a CRT tester for companies because my eyes were so sensitive to flicker - gasp, now the LCD revolution is crushing my dreams - sigh
It sounds like the "stepped" wave is using an DAC (digital to analog converter) to recreate the sine wave. With proper filtering the effects should be minimal but with improper filtering there are all sorts of problems since the digital sine wave is an approximation. The extremely rapid step...
yeah, but I only need it to last a yr or 2 and then I'll sell it for $200 and upgrade to a 8ms 19" LCD for $250. Pretty good upgrade. I'm dumping my Dell 1905fp for this one. I wasn't too impressed with the Dell over an Acer that I sold. I'll take a cheapy for now and wait for prices to...
No problem gergerver. Let me know how it works out for you and send me a personal note at my usernameATPurdue.edu with whether or not it works. Maybe I can swing by the shop and lop off another piece of Cu
Oh yeah,
You should be able to go to an AutoBody shop and see if they have any since they are used to realign bumpers if they don't fit quite right. It'd be nicer to go to a machine shop and have them take a piece of 1.5" copper round stock and cut it off at 0.141" but that might be tough for...
sorry about that...
...and sorry for not being more clear. I had several trials and that's why there is some confusion.
One ship was 3/32 and the other was about 3/64" thick and they were both aluminum. I just put grease between the two and smushed them together. Then treat the "sandwich"...
Oh yeah,
The slug stays in place because it is being squeezed by the chip and the case which is why the dimensions are important. Too thick and "crack" and too thin would result in no cooling.
Sorry for the delay guys.
Here's what you have to do.
1) Remove all 7 or 8 screws holding the outer casing on
2) Remove the 4 screws that hold the DVD Rom to the bottom of the case
3) Slide the DVD ROM back and then up and on the bottom-side you'll see chip that is about 1"x1" (it's the...
Hey gang,
I bought one and here's what I've learned about these cheap DVD players and about gizmos in general as a design engineer.
You can spend a boatload of money to make a bad design work o.k. after many upgrades
A good design doesn't neccessarily work well but is easier to work with than...
Hey Gang,
If it goes forward too fast then move the CG (center of gravity) a little further back. There must be some movable weight that can be added near the rear to keep it from pitching too far forward.
PXC,
How the HECK did you get that system at that price? Send me an e-mail at nino@purdue.edu with the details if you don't mind. The cheapes that I did was $1400 and I think that is a pretty good deal but around $1000 is Killer
I have to say that this is WAY WAY WAY better than the Apex. I went through 2 of the Apex series (1110 and 1200) and had issues with both. Their quality control is terrible. Then I bought the Norcent for 49.99 at Walmart and loved it ever since.
In my opinion they all need a better way of...
This is an incredible paint shop product. I like it better than Photoshop as it is easier to use too and comes with a GIF animation program too. It might not be as powerful as Photoshop but I have yet to need anything more powerful.
I think Samtron is made by Samsung. I would go with the 950b but I have a 950p w/about 2 yrs of warranty that I wanted to sell for $150 +s/h. Send me an e-mail at nino@purdue.edu if you are interested
I had the sweetheart run to BB and pick one up and my personal opinion is that this LCD is so-so. Now, mind you that I'm coming from a Samsung 950p 19" CRT so I might be jaded.
This is w/a GeForce4 MX440 on analog mode so those of you who have a VGA/DVI cards please tell me how nice it is in...
Sorry about that.
Anyhow, this is why MCM can't tell you the shipping costs...
The last time I checked, they manually have someone take the internet orders and enter them in their systems BY HAND. Anyhow, I will also vouche for these guys as they are pretty good. I salvage too many of my...
Hi gang,
sorry for the late responses as I've been studying like crazy - I hate when school gets in the way ;-)
Anyhow, just send me an email at nino@purdue.edu. I'm sure that I'll get a ton of responses and so I won't even bother responding to those that low-ball me. These are the mini-pci...
