Antec 500 Watt Basiq for $9.99 AMIR and Antec Solo for $39.99 AMIR

Good prices on both. I actually prefer my Solo to my P180, the latter of which is just a pain to work in. And yes, Fortron used to be an excellent maker of PSU's, but that was something like 8 years ago. I'm not sure if they are as good as they used to be. Anyone know for sure?

    q6600 @ microcenter

You sure about that? There seems to be a LOT of misinformation floating around about this deal. Lots of people are bitter that you can only buy them in-store, and I suspect that's where a lot of the vitriol comes from. People have been saying: 1. They're OEM, not retail, and MC posted...

    Athlon 64 X2 4200+

Anecdotally I've heard that this won't give much of a noticeable performance boost for single-threaded app's over a single core 4000+, but Tom's Hardware seems to tell a different story (link). Trying to figure out if this is worth an interim upgrade.

    Fry's B&M Athlon X2 4400+ and ECS Nforce 6100 motherboard for $98.99

No. Microcenter does not have a pricematch guarantee. And anywhere that I've done PM's always requires that the competitor be local anyway.

Are LCD's as vulnerable to EMI as CRT's? Less so? At all?

Thanks so much to both of you for the input. I would be using a DVI connector, so that makes me feel better. I didn't want to drop several hundred dollars on something that would give me the same trouble that I had already been experiencing. Any other thoughts and comments are definitely...

Are LCD's as vulnerable to EMI as CRT's? Less so? At all?

I recently picked up a new CRT monitor, but due to excessive EMI in the area, it can only operate at a 60 Hz refresh rate without getting shaking images, blurring and other visual disturbances. The 60 Hz refresh rate gives me more of a headache than the distorted and dancing text and images...

Do you guys make money on Ebay?

Just work more. Unless you're incredibly resourceful, eBay is going to be far more hassle than it's worth, and the margins you can expect are abysmally bad. People who make anything more than a pittance on eBay aren't going to tell you how to do it. And if you're just starting to ask now...

    The problem with passwords

Just buy a cheap flash drive and put it on there. That's what I do for when I'm not at home. It works great. Crucial.com is selling 128MB drives for $17.99 shipped free. It's not the best price you'll find, but if you click through one of the ads here at Anandtech, you'll be contributing...

    The problem with passwords

link This is what I use. I used to use FlexWallet, by Two Peaks Software, on my PDA (there is a desktop version bundled with it), but my PDA was stolen. Not my passwords, though! Ha ha! What I liked about keeping everything exclusively on my PDA is that access to it was so incredibly...

NF4 chipset overheating causing BSOD's, crashes?

Recently I put together a new system after some j-hole stole my old one from my apartment (if you don't have renter's insurance, get it now--thankfully I was insured and could afford to replace it). Here are the spec's: Chaintech VNF4 Ultra Athlon 64 3000+ retail 1 GB (2x512MB) Geil...

    Sony PSP Preorder

Yikes! Instead of dropping $400 on this, I think I'll just get a GBA movie player for my SP to give it a little of the same functionality as a PSP (the big difference being, obviously, games). And I, like others here, have never been a big fan of bundles.

    Subnotebook / Ultraportable's from yesteryear....

Don't forget the Dell L400. It might only be 700MHz, though (or was it 800MHz?). Still, if price is a major consideration, you might want to keep it in mind, as ye olde lappetoppes of yore at times command what seems like an equally anachronous price (i.e. high). I just got a used C400...

    Laptop my arse

My laptop gaming doesn't extend very far behind earlier Black Isle titles (e.g. Baldurs Gate and Fallout). Not being able to play the latest 3d shooters is a small price to pay for my less than 4 lbs. Dell Latitude C400. Whither now, oh laptop? Are we going to see high-end CRT's on...

Corsair Value 512mg 3200 DDR $77 at Newegg

I got the Corsair Value RAM from Outpost when they had it for $60 AR. Works well. I haven't tried messing with the timings yet, though, and it's running at stock speeds at the moment. Still it withstands torture tests under memtest and prime95 with no problems on my AOpen AK79D-400VN.

    Windows 98 OEM Product ID

I have the exact problem with a copy of Outlook 2000 I have. The Product Key I originally had is 20 digits long, but it asks for a 25 digit code when I try to install it now a few years later. I could've sworn I was using the key that came with the original disc.
