I read from some place (could be AMD site) that Toledo core running from 1.3 to 1.35V. My Epox 9NDA3J MB BIOS set the Toledo core to 1.35 to 1.4V so I go back in the Bios to lower the vcore to -0.01 (you can lower the vcore a bit lower). It definitely helps the temperature issue. Right now, my...
Anyone is using this CPU with Epox 9nDA3J mb? I have problem overclocking this mb with this CPU. It can't go higher than 240MHz FSB because the BIOS would not recognize my SATA drive. The AGP/PCI clock is locked at 66MHz. My older X64 was overclocked over 255MHz before with the same BIOS and it...
I would love to see the more scientific responses on how Vista performance relative against WinXP apple to apple comparison beside the typical one of how shiny Vista is. Is there any concrete write up of XP against Vista somewhere that I can look at?
Not for me ... but holding the DEL key down works.
How could a driver fix something when it's not even loaded yet during the 1st initial boot up to BIOS screen?
The solution to the above problem is holding the DEL key down when hitting the power switch and keep holding it down till you see the BIOS set up blue screen. Make sure your KB does flash the LEDs during booting up or change to one that does. This MB does have some problems with keyboard's...
I am helping my nephew to build a system with this mb just bought from Chiefvalue. Booting up is fine with the initial screen showing proper CPU, right amount of RAMs, HD, DVD etc but no keyboard responded to the F1 & Delete message. LED code is 7F meaning waiting for keyboard entries. Keyboard...
Depending on what you want to use newsreader for. If you plan to download binaries ONLY, nothing beats the free powergrab. If you want download and also the convenience of reading texts, Xnews is best but Xnews is pretty intimidating to people who likes to be intimidated. It's not that hard to...
Pantner,
I also found that CS doesn't work with WD drives but it does work with Maxtor drives.

Tell us how X64 OS works. I am considering to try it because I use many engineering applications in simulation.
And the MX Duo cordless keyboard and optical mouse also arrived today and works. I just finished one of the tough jobs today. And my machine now singing 2GB. Got to be a lucky day for me. It's time for Warcraft 3 and not being nailed by the enemy because my lousy cordless mouse moves with its...
I'll be damn. It was working at 166MHZ not at 1T but at 2T. But the most important clue it gave me is the 2T parameter is the one screwing up the party. And indeed, once I relaxed the timing to 2T, it also works fine at 200MHZ.
It seems to me for whatever reason, A64+ can't handle...
Interesting. I will do that at 166MHZ just to see if it works. Even though I have no inclination at all to use 2GB but I still want to see how Chinese MB makers implementing the American ways of the 80s by documenting something working while in fact it doesn't work at all.
I have tried to set up a 2GB memory with this MB unsuccessfully. I have (4) 512MB modules: (2) from Kingmax CL2.5 and (2) from Kingston Value Ram CL3.
1) I can mix (1) each module from 1 brand with another brand successfully.
2) I can run 2 modules either from slot 1 & 2 or slot 3 & 4. I...
I like this board. I was looking at many MBs before deciding on this one. Many have things I don't need and some have things I don't like. Even I don't OC my board but the ability to OC easily is always #1 or #2 on my priority list. It's probably the best value board for socket 939 today.
I just played around with my Epox mb yesterday, 1st to familiarize myself with Epox's overclocking and 2nd, curiously to see how good my A64 3000+ and my Kingmax DRAM can overclock. The Kingmax DRAM purchased at Newegg's on sale lately can go to 225MHZ max (it locks up at 230MHZ) and my CPU can...
tpicciani,
I suggest you do this
1) Get memtest86 and make a boot disk so you can test it at boot time. Do a Google search, you will find plenty of links and howtos
2) Remove all unwanted CDRs, DVDs hard drives that you don't need. This will lighten up your load considerably, if your PSU...
Yeah, but people still claim that your Corsair is not "value" & "cheap" like my Kingston value to the bone DRAM. I am sure those DRAM module makers is laughing all the way to the bank.
I just have my Kingmax 1GB DDR PC3200 CL2.5 arrived today from newegg's one day sale. The first thing I do is to mix 1 512MB module of Kingmax PC3200 with 1 512MB module of Kingston Value Ram PC3200 CL3 that I had before in slot 1 & 2. It's 1GB dual channel as it should be, and there can't be...
First time buyer for me but I have watched comments from Fatwallet & Anandtech about this outfit. They are just great. Products delivered intact and shipping as good as it could get. They are now 1st on my price check when I have a need.
No tax in CA is great.
Spec at AMD website said 1.5V and normally it is plus/minus 10%. The one you should be concerned with is the absolute maximum rating. That's how people blowing up their chip like egg on frying pan, when they exceed their CPU's maximum rating.
Flipcody,
Can you do this just to test it out?
1) Reset your BIOS to fail safe option. This will take you to 166Mhz DRAM speed. If not, then set your DRAM speed to 166 MHZ.
2) Change your DRAM setting Cas Latency, RAS to Cas delay, PreCharge Time to 3-3-3. Leave the RAS active time in...
Flipcody,
I just did a quick check on your RAM chips' datasheet. Your first module is built upon the Winbond chips and is only compliant to 166 Mhz, CL2.5 (translated to PC2700). The 2nd module is Infineon compliant to 200Mhz CL3. Organization of both modules should be the same: 16 chips...
FYI, if your RAM's module utilized one kind of RAM chips organized as 32Mx8 bits and other module utilizes different RAM chip organized as 32Mx16 bits, then it will never work together as dual channel. On the other hand, the most common problem is the MB designed with low density type memory...
Flipcody,
According to this Intel Dual DDR channel white paper DDR minimum requirement on matched pair (page 8)
1) Both modules are the same capacity <- you meet the spec
2) Both modules are the same speed <- you meet the spec on your 2 PC3200
3) Both have the same number of chips and...
AndyBogard,
I know your video card works with other system, but I don't know whether your video card working with the one you are building right now in certain steps of power up. That's my point. First rule of troubleshooting anything is unless you have 2 identical systems, previous...
AndyBogard,
Here is my post over the OCW Forum and few posts down, how I solved my WD drives problem. I don't know whether it applies to you but I think my problem is very similar to yours.
----- My post ----
I just finished putting in my A64 3000+ with a 9NDA3+ MB. Everything went OK...
My deal was 2 DVDs out at one time, no restriction, $14.99 before tax for the 1st month. After that, it is $24.99 including tax. Los Angeles area. I am in the 2nd month now and would be the last, for the reason described above.
I tried this deal already last month and I am cancelling it now. You can't find any good movie you want to watch because people keeps their movie for a long time without return it (no late fee phenomenon, I tell you). One particular case that my daughter had to come back many times in TWO weeks...
Rebate for Dlink DWL-650 bought from Amazon.com never come. Filed on Jan-03 for $20. Now the DWL-650 becomes an expensive purchase considered it's a mediocre product. They said they never received it. How do we know that they don't randomly trash the rebate mail "accidentally"?
SMC-2004WBR...
Regardless of inconsistency in the company's rebate forms, what MysticMan1 said is "trust me". Either you have to independently verify the claim, "trust him" or "worries". One of the 3 above actions is rational.
PS: I printed out the weekly special for In-Store Specials for Los Angeles, CA and...
zOInks747,
I print both forms and it confirms your finding
1) OM has rebate ($40) for Cendyne DVD-R/W but no rebate for DVD+R/W.
2) Cendyne has rebate ($30) for both DVD-R/W and +R/W models.
All calculations on DVD+R/W taken on both rebates are wrong. It only works on -R/W model.
