    Not Enough Storage Available

Clean Build, Totally Different Server I've started manually setting the DNS and WINS on the machines to the 2k3 Server. The problems seem to subside or at least are reduced. Could it be that the NT Server was acting as a WINS/DNS nameserver for the organization? I think thats a little far...

    Not Enough Storage Available

Have a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server here and upon trying to access it intermittenly I recieve the message "not enough storage available to process this command". It was formerly a part of an NT Domain, but since was promoted to its own 2003 Domain and disjoined from the NT Domain. I...

    Computers Keep Failing

Yeah, if you unplug and reset the device, it'll flicker again then go out. So i'm assuming its the PSU? I guess i could just replace the psu, but i'm debating if I just wanna throw the working components into a microATX case... However if i do that, I lose the windows license.... I'll...

    Computers Keep Failing

I have a few computers that I've built for myself. They're MSI Mega 180's. They run p4 533fsb and maxtor hd's and kingston value ram. I've had 3 computers so far just konk out and die. They will suddenly not start up one day. You'll press the power button and the light will flicker and then...

pc randomly shuts off but is still running...

Good to hear. I've had very very very big problems with Powmax. They really give you the impression of a quality product with their PSU chassis but its really just crap. I once had a POWMAX, and it really POWED on me. I turn it on one day in one of my machines and it STARTS BLAZING....LITERALLY...

Can't boot into safe mode? Why?

Before you reinstall try some data recovery tools as Knoppix and/or BartsPE or Windows PE (UX). A google search should define some of those for you.

    Windows XP Won't Boot

It seems to me that windows setup didn't finish successfully. It shouldn't do any harm to do another in place install. Try that...Should help.

    CD-ROMs not being detected

Go to start, run type "sfc /scannow" without quotes. It will check windows files and make sure they're not corrupted. If that doesn't work do an install ontop of the existing windows installation via "repair" function. That should do that trick.

Does System Restore slows down windows?

System Restore is succeptible to ad-aware and spyware and in most cases can infect the system. I'd disable it for the reason and that reason only. Its intentions were good, just its implementation poor. Thats the life story of M$.

Comp Tech is Stumped?! Having an off day...

I've been using those cases with built in standoffs for the longest time...I bought like 20 of them off pricewatch and I just ran out. I'll be using them now. And FYI I use 4 screws for the HD's. I can't believe this thread stayed alive overnight. :D

Hard Drive issue? What do you think?

Yeah, Sounds like a hard drive issue...They're old hard drives, they might not have the response times you want. The backup could be holding things up. Try booting without it and see what happens, The delay inside the backup might cause windows to wait for it.

Comp Tech is Stumped?! Having an off day...

I did answer your question. I've only had to use the standoffs a handful of times, it usually works without them. There are some that work without the standoffs.

Yo. I'm usually an expert on these things but for some reason I need a second opinion. So i'm getting the motherboards in, I always ground myself on the case, I dont' bother using those brass pedestal screws ever and i connect the jumpers. Motherboard questions

    A) Have no idea B) You can't get the metal cover off. Period. Is the lever at a 90 degree angle? And are you still trying to get the cover off or are you pulling the pcb board?

    Games and sometimes computer crashing

Hmm...Duhur...could that be da prob? I think that could cause the problem by itself, and if not byitself it could cause more heat dissapation inside the case triggering the safe shutdown before it reaches its die temp.

Are there keyboards with numpad separate?

They sell numpads seperately. You can do what gnomecop said or buy a cheapo 104 key keyboard and buy a numpad seperately.

My computer sometimes stops while opening:(

Kind of general...A little more specific? I'm making an assumption...Correct me of i'm wrong...You don't know much about computers....Under these circumstances where you could possibly damage something else i'd take it to a computer repair store.

How's This For A Budget Upgrade

I think you can come down on the mobo since you're cheaping out on the proc ( no offense rofl). Pricewatch.com has decent Socket A mobo's for around 50, that'll do fine for you. Ram is good, you can prob do better on some OEM ram on pricewatch. For forty and change you can get a radeon 9200...

    NEW SYSTEM MOBO PROBLEMS?!

I've come across this problem alot. Its the motherboard, RMA it before the warranty runs out. If its already too old you gotta get another one. If it doesn't beep no matter what you do with all IDE devices disconnected and RAM out of the sockets, its done. If its ticking, that could be the leads...

will pc 2100 run with a 2500 barton?

I'd just check the specs of the motherboard. Keeping them in snyc for best performance and stability is all and well but if you want it to work, the final words would be the motherboard specs.

    XP won't reinstall.

Check your system temperatures... Your computer might be overheating. If you're using the same PSU that was in your old computer, it might not be generating enough power. I'd say check the power supply, possibly use a friends and test it out. I'd think its overheating first. Tell me what the sys...

    Computer shuts off...

    Cold Boot Problem?

Sounds like a ram issue to me, Try booting with IDE, and if you still get it, Take all IDE devices out and see what happens. Still happens? Take all but one stick (alternate sticks) of ram out and see what happens. You might have defective ram modules.
