Greetings All,
I recently allowed a download-happy friend to stay in a spare bedroom. However I do much of my work at home and depend upon high bandwidth for video and voice conferencing and the like. My current router (built into the Verizon MI424WR) does not appear to allow bandwidth...
I have a Shuttle CPX SN95G5 v3 based system, that reportedly accepts 2 sticks of DDR2-400. I recently got ahold of some DDR2-667 that I got a deal on here. I am wondering if any problems might result from my using these in this system, or in a MAC that is rated to accept DDR2-667.
There's an MMO called Minions of Mirth that I recently discovered that, as an MMO veteran, I consider a pretty hot deal. Check it out: www.prairiegames.com
What makes this a hot deal in my eyes is the $30 software cost and no monthly fees. The lack of the need to prolong monthly subscriptions...
I currently own a Radeon AiW card, and it works fairly well for me, but it appears that I'll need a better graphics cardto play some of the newer games that are coming round the pike. In order to avoid having to replace the whole kit and kaboodle next time around, I'd like to purchase a...
What's the power consumption like on these recent 6800 OC cards that are being sold. I need a card for a SFF system with a 200W power supply. I'd like to get one of the x800s simply for the low power draw of the thing, but there are some really good deals floating around on the Nvidias...
I've got an AiW 8500 at the moment. It is hooked up to all sorts of entertainment software and works fairly nicely for most things that I do. However, it won't play Everquest 2. Not by a long shot. So, I need to get a new video setup.
Should I looke for a 9800 or 9600XT AiW or should I...
I thought I saw this here already and was going to post an update, but upon searching for "9800 Pro" I didn't see it. I believe it was probably embedded in the 256MB ATI thread. So, here it is:

HARP (High Adventure Role Playing) is a new-ish table-top RPG from ICE. Everything you need to play is in one book. And it's a blast. Anyhow, ICE is giving partial credit (up to $15) off the purchase price of HARP ($25) for sending in D20 products. Fiendish marketing, man. I...
I've never encountered any problems I couldn't solve myself with desktops, but my new laptop is really frustrating me. I'm no networking pro, but I've somehow managed to set up and maintain a home LAN for filesharing and gaming purposes for the last few years. Here is what I would like to do...
Ok - first off, what I'm working with: I have an nforce2 board and I have two separate "2-speaker-plus-sub" 2.1 systems hooked up to it. One of them is connected to the line out and the other is connected to the line in. I've used the nforce software to set the two system up for surround...
I've got some speakers that I'd like to use as a rear channel in a "4.2" surround setup. However, the way the room is set up, I really need the left speaker to play the right channel and the right speaker to play the left channel. There is no possibility of my making this happen by switch...
I've got a wierd hesitancy with my PC. It's not functionally problematic, really - but it drives me up the friggin' wall.
Once in a while it will just hang for a second or two before executing the command I've given. The oddest (and hopefully, telltale) thing is that when I'm at a menu that...
I didn't post this on an xbox forum because I know xbox fans get really upset by PC people trashing their system, but I need some advice here...
I've recently purchased an xbox and I'm trying really hard to like it, but the graphics seem very poor to me. I promise I'm really not a video snob...
With all the overclocking possible now, I have some decisions to make. And odf course, I wouldn't think of making a multi-hundred dollar computer decision without first consulting everybody here.
~The 9700 Pros can be had for $200ish.
~The 9800 Pros can be purchased new for $300.
~The 9800XTs...
Repost I believe, but still potentially valid, especially in areas where people don't generally put their own computers together. I got mine in South Texas. It was the only one there...

I'm looking to get ahold of a cheap mobo/cpu combo for a system I need to build. The last system I did this with was an ECS K7S5A and XP 1800. That system has worked great for me thus far, but I've read that others have had problems with theirs. Perhaps I've just been lucky enough to get a...
