I am just upgrading from a MSI K8N Neo4 NForce4 939pin mobo & AMD Athlon 4200 CPU @ 2.5ghz. I searched on Anandtech for P45 Mobos and found that EP45-U3DP was given the Gold award so I purchased it. It seems overclocking is trickier on the Core2 Cpu and P45 chipset ( I can imagine an X58 &...
Has anyone tried to use VMWare ESX 3.5 on desktop chipsets like Intel P35, X38,X48 or Nvidia 600 or 700 series? I want to learn how to use Infrastructure 3 on Desktop hardware? I can't afford a server just to study vmware.
Hey Ackbar here's some info from another member.

Seems this is a problem with VNF4's.
I agree with MajorPayne and would RMA in a second just for the sound problem, which may or may not have anything to do with your oc'ing problem. Then I would test your cpu in somebody elses compatible rig, even if its a Nvidia nforce3 or VIA K8T800. Also don't forget the memory. Bring it with...
The thing is that Core Center seems to undo volatage settings for memory and cpu I set in Bios/Core Cell. Core Center doesn't show what I set in Bios and it shouldn't change them. I installed Mother Board Monitor. I loaded it once b4 I reloaded OS and it had settings for most mobos except...
Trying to monitor and log results on my MSI Neo4 Platinum. Seems Prime95 fails when CPU reach certain Temps. Another problem is Corecenter seems to be overriding my settings set in Bios/CoreCell. Tried NTune and got a PCI Lock warning. What are you using?
FSB 260Mhz
HTT 4X
CPU 2.6Ghz...
Oops, just wanted to know what if anyone used the MSI Corecenter software or the Nvidia Ntune? I'm having a problem I believe with Core Center setting the Memory, CPU Voltages back to what it is set in Core Center than what is set in Core Cell on the Bios. It's fustrating that I can record...
You rock Kindest! Thanx for posting your core bios settings. I upped the voltage on the NB (northbridge) to 1.65 as you mentioned. Crashed on Prime95 then upped the mem voltage to 2.8v. Ran Prime95 for 2.5 hours without a hiccup while I was using Firefox, Outlook and Gaim. My settings are...
Here is some information which I was told by PQI Memory Tech support because I couldn't reach DDR500 with their product. I set it for 250Mhz FSB, 8X CPU Multiplier, 4x HTT and all within normal operating range of the PQI PC4000 memory and the A64 3200+ (2.0Ghz). I would like to know any...
I just want to pass along some information from PQI about the MSI K8N Neo4 and its ability to do DDR500 clock. Is there anyone here who can reach 250Mhz or higher FSB and memory speed.
The following are emails between myself and PQI support...
Lowered everything to the default speed of 200 Mhz FSB, 10x multiplier on CPU and ran Prime95 without a hitch for 3+ hours. I'm betting on the memory being the culprit. Looking at getting Corsair Twinmos XMS3200C25 instead. Cheaper than OCZ EL Gold rev 2.
I have a K8N Neo4, A64 3200+ 939pin 90nm CPU and PQI Turbo PC4000 memory. Started by going for the gusto at 260 Mhz FSB, 4X HTT and various voltages. Prime95 always failed. Lowered to 250 Mhz FSB, 4x HTT and 8x multiplier at stock voltages that way CPU & Memory are at rated speeds. Still...
Okay I've just about F*#@ing had it. I've got me one these boards a week ago with a A64 3200+ 939 pin 90nm, (2) 512MB PQI Turbo PC4000 (500Mhz) memory and started it off at 260 Mhz FSB and 4x Hypertransport Multiplier. I can not get Prime 95 Torture Test to run without errors. I've adjusted...
Whatever you do don't buy an Abit NF7-S. Just got mine and after 2 weeks of getting all my software installed I find a "hum" coming from the microphone when trying to IM with someone. Seems I was told in a canned email message reply to go to the forum site for better support. I find that lots...
I'm looking at getting a DVD Ram to record Digital 8 recording to DVD. I would like to use it to make backup copies of Movie and Game DVD's. I'm looking at the Pioneer A03 DVRD or Panasonic LF-D311SC. On the Pioneer site they stated that they are part of the Copyright Infringement Association...
I wanted do know if a 100MBz FSB Duron, 266FSB mobo and 2100DDR ram work. Do mobos have the ability to clock the CPU at 100Mhz FSB while clocking the Memory and Ram at 133Mhz double pumped. I know that some mobos can decrease the RAM timings for PC100 memory on the KT133 mobo. I had for 2...
Are you sure you disabled the jumper free jumper? I rubbed the L1 bridges until the lead glossed over. Make sure the lead does not touch the adjacent bridge contacts.
I bought a unlocked 700 Mhz Duron which came locked. Emailed sales and got email back from support that I could connect them with a pencil. Duh, if I wanted to do that I wouldn't had bought it unlocked. Tried it and could not get above 800 Mhz. Emailed them six times by email and phone with...
Well I redid the Loctite thing three times. This time applying it with the butt end of the needle only between the bridges contact. It's been 12 hurs and it does not work at all. :| I got farther using the pencil trick. :( I'm returning this cpu to www.overclockerz.com hopefully for a...
HSF's are held down by the socket itself, so the cpu should already be in the socket. The trick is to minimize the HSF moving around while you lock down the clip.
Got a Locked 700Mhz Duron I've got working only at 850 Mhz using the pencil trick. I would like to use the Loctite Rear Defogger conductive adhesive to make better connection on the L1 Jumper. How did you guys apply it? I would like some suggestions.
Yeah, I know about the voltage upgrade when it starts to get unstable. It's the same with multiplier adjustments. I think I'll try the conductive pen or loctite. I'll let you know.
If you have the 4 switch and 6 switch dip switch near the primary 33/66 IDE port. If they are there you should download ver. 1.3 of the manual for dip switch(multiplier and frequency) and jumper sittings (voltages). Also there is a jumperfree jumper to disable before you can start overclocking...
I had a 700 Duron week 23 L1 bridges intact that I overclocked to 997Mhz when I mistakenly disconnected replacement (Alpha PEP66U) HSF when applying more arctic silver. I ordered an unlocked 700Mhz Duron from Overclockerz.com that came locked and penciled in the L1 Bridges. I can set the...
The HSF not sitting on the CPU correctly might have been the problem that started it all. It boot up but would freeze up during ATA100 initialization. When I removed the fan to apply a little more Arctic Silver the power cable came loose. It was on for 10 seconds when I noticed the fan still...
Got a new Alpha PEP66U for replace my Globalwin FOP32-1. Problem was that I forgot to plug in the Fan and "phhhht" went the Duron. I've ordered a new one already unlocked, but I don't know how I'm going to get the Thermal Sensor off the old one and onto the new one. I have three new...
My 700 Mhz Duron came with the L1 Bridges intact and to overclock to 997Mhz (9.5x105) @ 1.85v. Did you raise your voltage at 900 or 950 as far as it would go. Did you check the temps at the different speed/voltage? What are you using as a Heatsink/Fan? I could only to 900 Mhz with a Golden...
I suggest you get a YSTeck 27 CFM fan which is quieter than the 38CFM. Though if you slow the fan it'll raise the temps. The only other thing is you use a new HSF like the Alpha PEP66U /w 23 CFM Sunon. If you look at the FOP38 vs. Alpha at http://www.2cooltek.com/newsocket.html. The Alpha...
I suggest that you get the FOP32-1 which is quieter than the FOP38. For $20 you can't go wrong price/preformance wise. If you really want to push overclocking/cooling envelope get the Kanie Hedge Hog (all copper hard to find) or the Alpha PEP66U (Copperbase inlay base and aluminum fins). I...
If you search the reviews here at Anantech's site you'll find a write up on the board. From what I read the Capacitors are from the CPU socket so I guess any Heatsink/Fan should do. Though the top of the lines if you really want to overclock I hear are Globalwin FOP32-1(Quiet), FOP38 (Cooler...
Well I finally updated to 1005-03E and it sucks. I have a LS120 and 1 Gb SparQ drive on my Primary Master and Slave respectively on the 33/66 ide channel and it refuses to see the SparQ drive. Freezes trying to recongize it. Reverted back to 1004D. Maybe next time.
Saw a blurb on the sidebar of Anantech Home Page. Downloaded it but AsusUpdate won't flash it as it sees the bios as not compatible. Even though the bios says for A7V. Anybody try it yet.
Seems I'm not the only one. Not to disrespect Anand but I posted the same problem at Tomshardware and somebody posted that they had the same problem and he wondered if he was the only one. I ask again does anybody else have the same problem?
Come on guys! Anyone out there that's been monitoring their chassis fans on an A7V? I just updated my bios to 1004D and PCProbe 2.12.3 to no avail. It's still happens to dissapear after a few seconds in PCProbe.
HardManKam
Did you raise the voltage until the system is stable. Then push the mulitplier some more raising the voltage if needed. Another thing how cool is the cpu? What kind of HSF do you have?
I got an Asus A7V v 1.01 which I added a 80mm 3 wire Case Fan with built in thermistor. In Bios and PCPROBE 2.12 the fan takes a while to register. In PCPROBE though it disappears and the RPM's go to 0. I'm using Bios ver. 1004a. I have 1004c & d just haven't had the heart to flash to...
