    Need Video Card Recommendation

The graphics requirements for oblivion are for me, a bit hyped. I'm currently running it on an IBM T43 lappy, with an X300 Graphics card, and I've got it at 800x600 2xAA, Bloom (HDR isn't supported unfortunately or I would have tweaked it to work), nearly full water effects, and I have almost no...

    Linux. where should I start?

Ubuntu seems to be the most popular, but I am and have been for some time a fan of SuSE. SuSE 9.3 It says it's an Evaluation version, but it's not, it's the whole shebang.

    Computer Enginnering

Not to put you down, or say that you can;t do it (mostly because I'm horrible at math), but you may want to examine that choice very closely. Electrical Engineering is, in my opinion, the most math intensive of the common forms of engineering. You can do it if it's what you want, but expect a...

University of Hartford. Hands down. It's the professors, and their willingness to try new things, and pioneer new teaching strategies that sets this school apart. Our engineering program has focuses on what are important to new engineers, Writing and interpersonal/teambuilding skills. The school...

If you could redesign the PC

I for one would reorganize the PCB in PCI and AGP cards so that all the sexy chippage is facing up, not down. But that's jsut the vanity in me talking...

CTho9305, good stuff man. I was hoping an industry professional would chime in, I'm a little under qualified as I'm only going into my Soph year. I'm more or less repeating what I've heard from professors and advisors. I want to be doing what your doing, or what you described, at least to...

    Computer Enginnering

I wouldn't go that far fatty... I still find it all quite tedious, though I guess that's why I plan on aiming for management. With the exception of some really cool thermo, and circuit design stuff.... esun, I'm at a backwater school called the University of Hartford. But from what you say...

    Computer Enginnering

Computer Engineering is a blanket major. If you want to do any heavy design, then dual in Physics. And a math minor is only 7-8 credits away(2 classes for me). You'll be best prepared for things like driver design, Hardware-OS communications; VLSI design and that sort of thing. To tell you the...

    Computer Enginnering

Currently a Comp. Engineering major, second year. The classes you'll be taking are a mix between a Comp Sci and and EE. You usually get to choose which way you want to go with it. I don't actually want to do any engineering or software development when I get out, but I do want to be in the tech...

    Sun Ultra 20 Case

Case I don;t know about the rest of you, but this is one of the sexiest cases I have ever seen. But, I haven't been able to find one not attached to an $800 Sun system. Now I like the system, but I prefer to build myself, and I like to have a general purpose GPU, and something a bit better...

    Top Ten *RPG* Games PC

Morrowind was for me, the most replayable, and hands down best RPG created to thiss point. I think I've dumped solid months into the game + expansions + Modded stuffs. It's getting on in age now, so the graphics aren't as stunning, and the NPCs aren't as engaging, as some of the newer...

HAHAHA Had to laugh Intel sad :( Need cookie.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but my main rig is an Athlon XP 2100+ Palomino core. I'm upgrading at the end of summer, and I'm definately going with thte 4400+ X2. I do heavy multitasking, and it's damn near impossible to get anything done anymore on this machine. I've even decided...

Have you ever been rejected by a girl?

Doesn't happen often, but it has. I've been rejected by 2 girls, both were pretty blatantly going to happen, but I like to aim high.

    Exercise - Muscle Growth

Alright, I'm an extremely lean 135-140, with a very cut figure at 5'7", but there is quite simply no mass there. I don't really work out, besides Parkour, 100 or so push-ups a night, a bunch of sit-ups, and heel-ups until i quite literally cannot do them anymore, and can leg press upwards of...

How do you tell if Amd cpu is Oem or retail(with warrenty)?

Even if you hadn't voided the warranty, and not been able to provide a valid proof of purchase, the warranties have probably run out on chips this aged. the 2000+ is what? Over 2 years old?

    OMFG!!1!1! +7GHz overclock!

You guys do realize that in that forum are the top overclockers in the world? These guys consistantly rank in the top 5 on every bench, andunlike most, they can hold these scores for weeks, or even months. Fugger was the first to break 6ghz I believe, and Macci broke 4 and 5, I think on...

    OMFG!!1!1! +7GHz overclock!

He's using several thousand dollars in cooling to get there. It's called a cascade, his temps are around -120 degrees. Keep your A64 and be happy, you'll never get an overclock like that.

Do you ever act like a dork?

All the time, why jsut tonight, I decided to go to the outside of my building and stick a soldered together string of capacitors into a socket, jsut to scare people walking by with the explosions. Ummm... Anytime I play DDR I feel like a dork. And umm... yeah, I gave a valentine in binary.

    Best Distro of Linux?

Try Mepis, or yoper, I have found both to be easy to use and well stocked with pre-loaded software. I lean towards Yoper, a little more difficult, but the speed makes up for it, as well as the multitude of options.

It looks like time has finally caught up with the Athlon XP.

I'm going to hold onto my XP 2100+ a little longer, at least until mid January after the holidays, and when the prices level out and nforce4 comes around. I'm wanting my PCI-e. That 6600GT is looking very pretty as well. nice performance/price ratio in my book.

    FIRE and ITER

Fire was cancelled because the government found the spending superflous with ITER going along with more backing, and becausae their aren't enough beaurocrats in favor of it. Is it just me or do only idiots use Firefox?

Wow... "interesting" thread. I personally use FF. It works nicely for me, and I enjoy the extensions, themes, and tabbed browsing. I use IE only for Windows Update these days... And that's only when i'm not in Linux. Which i use by the way, as a learning tool, not because I think I'm a 1337...

    Linux Filesystem?

I'm fairly sure Yoper has it in it's latest iteration, but I could of course be wrong. Ubuntu could possibly have it as well. None of the big distro have it yet, it's far too expirimental. I should add a disclaimer to all my posts. I think it is in Yoper, but I may be wrong. If I am, then oh...

    Linux Filesystem?

ReiserFS is the best out there overall right now. Ext3 has shown to be a bit on the slow side, and XFS isn't really necessary. The Reiser filesystem recently recieved an upgrade. So you may want to check out Reiser4. Only a few distros have it pre-installed though.
