Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro with Zalman CNPS7700CU

I'm thinking of getting a better HSF. Will this HSF fit my board? I check the list of compatiable boards, but it doesn't list my model. It lists the SLI/939 version of the board as compatiable, but not the 754 version. It's not listed in the non-compatiable, so I think it should fit. I just...

    Current Trends in CPUs

I'm doing a report on current trends in CPUs. I have an idea, but I'm trying to make sure I don't miss anything. Currently, I have Hyperthreading, dual core CPUs, and 64-bit processing as the trends. Is there anything else I'm missing AMD and Intel are doing to speed up performace? Also, do...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

That clock speed isn't incredibly bad. A64s aren't known to overclock that much. The highest I got it to go and still be stable was about 10X230. I think I had to up the voltage closer to 1.7V though. But not too sure...it was a pretty long time ago. I'm running it at 10X215 and 1.5V right...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

What's the default clock speed for the 3000+? What's the highest you got it to go without getting unstable? Have you tried increasing the core voltage? Be careful though. Setting it too high may burn your chip. You will need to go up by 1 Hz when you get to the higher frequencies. Also...

Not too sure what the APIC thing is, but have you tried turning off the RAID controllers that you're not using off? For my system, I'm using my primary IDE for my dvdr and 1 SATA for my SATA HD. I have the other SATA controller turned off and the IDE RAID controller turned off. This should...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

It crashed when I used F5. However, I'm almost certain it was because of my Netgear MA111. It seems to crash a lot of systems. F2 seems to be the only one that'll work for me right now. Hopefully the newer BIOS updates will work correctly. Also, I wasn't able to get into the BIOS settings...

Mine's running fine with 2 sticks of Corsair Value Ram PC3200 512mb. I'm using F2 and OCing it to 218 stable. I'm using DIMM 1 and 2.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Well...just realized I've been using F2 all this time. LoL. Tried F5...won't let me go into the CMOS. Crashed comp (I think that had to do with my Netgear MA111 though). Using ET5, I was able to see my voltages, fan rpm, and cpu temp (seems right....37C idle with CnQ). Didn't try any of the...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Is gigabyte even fixing any of the problems people have been having?? i.e. Ram speeds, ET tabs, multipliers, etc. The last few fixes don't seem to be anything anyone has been having problems with. F5 2004/9/20 Add ITE8212 D-Stepping chipset support F4 2004/8/5 Fix BOOT sequence error...

You can try a different power supply. 300 Watts seems kinda low. I got one that's 500W, but it's a cheap one. It works, so I'm not complaining. Try one from a good company like Antec. It might give you better OC and stability.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Not sure which chip you have, but my chip defaults HTT to 4X. I've read that increasing it to 5X doesn't really help much, and it causes stability issues. I'm using 2 sticks of Corsair Value Ram PC3200 2X512 on slots 1 and 2. It's OCed to 218 mhz. Everything is stable and I haven't had any...

So anyone brave enough to try F5 yet? Does it fix anything useful (i.e. tabs in et4/5 that allows u to see temps)?

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

CnQ works with this board. Just install the AMD 64 drivers, then go to ur power settings and set it to minimal power management. When you check your clock speed, it should have dropped to about 800mhz or so....depending on which chip you got, it'll be a different speed.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I dunno...it might be luck. I'm running with 2 sticks of PC 3200 512mb sticks at 218mhz fine. After F2 bios, I've been able to run my ram past 200mhz without any problems.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

F4 is pretty stable. I've been running it for a few weeks already. The only thing it still doesn't do is show the info on ET4 and the multipliers don't work. I'm using Corsair Value Ram PC3200 2X512mb at 218 and it's stable. Haven't had any crashing at all. ocsscott, when you're in the...

Athlon 64 motherboard with integrated graphics

Athlon 64 motherboard with integrated graphics

I'm gunna build a new A64 system for my cousin. He doesn't do any gaming, so I'm looking for an Athlon 64 motherboard with integrated graphics (and lan, audio, etc.). Which mobo do you guys recommend? He wants it on a mini tower too, so hopefully it's a microATX board. Thanks for the help in...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

If you see F2 when you start, then it should be F2. To see if CnQ is working, right click My Computer, and click on properties. If your cpu speed is like 800 or something like that, then it's working.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I've tried F4 bios. Mines boot fine with ram at 200mhz working. The tabs to view temp and stuff in ET4 also works. However, multipliers still don't work, and the system crashes after a few minutes in windows. I'm back to F2 again....

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I've never had any problems burning anything. Burnt cds/dvds with CnQ on and off, OC on and off, and all bios versions. Also, CPU driver installed and before it installed. I don't think the mobo is the problem. What program are you using? Or it could be the CDs/burner combo that's giving...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Has anyone spoken to gigabyte lately regarding the latest bios update?

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I haven't been able to get the multipliers working either. But there was a post in this topic that had a method you can try. Something about setting it to 201mhz first or something. Just read this topic and it should be in there. It didn't work for me, but it's worth a try.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Get the latest bios update. It should read your temps more accurately. I was getting 54C (around 47C with CnQ on) idle with the old bios. I'm getting about 37C idle now CnQ enabled.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Maybe it's your power supply. I'm not sure if 350W is enough. If you know someone with a stronger power supply...borrow it from them or something. It's worth a try.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

has anyone been able to change the multipliers in the bios and have it stick? i've tried changing it to 9 and 9.5, but et4 goes all weird...giving me wierd frequencies, or doesn't report it having been changed at all. i'm using F2 bios.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

to turn on CnQ....right click on the desktop and click on properties. then click screen saver, and click power at the bottom. then change it to minimal power and CnQ will be turned on. check if it's on by right clicking on my computer and clicking on properties. the speed should be dropped...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

3200+ is stock at 10X200. it's only unlocked downward. so your 11X220 is still only going to be 2200. if ur mem can run at 260, try putting the multiplier at 9.5X260. that'll put ur mem at 260 and ur cpu at 2470. or try something lower. dunno how high ur cpu can go.
  31. E

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

yes. using a64 3200+. both mem and ram's at 219 right now. they were set in the bios, and it boots with no problems. cnq enabled too. screenshot

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

mine's working great right now. set at 215 in bios. both mem and cpu (a64 3200+) is at that speed. default core voltage. temps are decent, about 38C idle with cnq enabled (using mbm to test temp). full load is in the upper 40's. haven't done too many benchmarks, but superpi finished (32M)...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

trying out the new F2 bios. CnQ seems stable, mem's sticking, and i'm able to change multipliers. gunna see if it's stable at stock.... also, anyone else not able to use the other functions in easytune (check temp, etc.)?

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

CnQ crashed my comp when i tried to run a few games. Worked fine with it off. So I guess F3a isn't working with CnQ too well.
  35. E

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I got cool and quiet to work stable in bios F1, with cpu at 2200, ram at 183. dropped my temp about 7C. Using CnQ on F3a right now too. Seems stable...but I just installed the bios so I won't really know yet.
  36. E

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

so far...f3a seems pretty good. mem clock stays at 200, multipliers work now, and temp readings are 44C (from 54C) in the bios. Seems stable so far...but I'll need to do a few benchmarks and stuff. Hopefully gigabyte releases a final version soon. edit: can't change frequency in bios...but...
