ok the basic situation is this:
i play World of Warcraft. in thier latest maintainance "patch" (i use the term very losely) they did something that monkeyed around with system memory. prior to this patch the game ran perfectly, now i can't run the game with both my sticks of pc2700 DDR ram...
from what i've been told, BFG is reknowned for thier customer service and warranties. in fact i think this card has a lifetime warranty.
why is that important? well if you go taking their fan and heat sink off you are voiding that pretty warranty... just a thought.
with that said, those...
these are 2 BFG 6800 GT cards from newegg:
first one is cheaper (419.50) and comes with doom3 free
Model "BFGR68256GTD3" -RETAIL
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=14-143-022&depa=1
second one is MORE expensive (469.50) and does not have doom3
Model "BFGR68256GTOC" -RETAIL...
i asked a similar question on the boards recently and got some interesting answers. i guess it depends how much you want to spend.
me im an nvidia man so i immediately looked at the 6600 GT and the 6800 GT. the 6600GT is a 200USD+ card, probably 250ish? the 6800 GT is right around 400USD...
haha actually i had no idea it wasn't a real GT. i'm pretty clueless when it comes to some of this stuff. what does GT stand for anyways.
"Bleh" said in his post that the xfx and the asus ones are just "overpriced 6800's that have unlocked pipelines and vertex shader" so im glad i asked...
yeah now that you mention it, the asus only has 128 instead of 256. so that answers that question, haha.
question for savarak: what do you mean you flashed the bios to the gainward GT bios? isn't that another brand? didn't think that was possible...
thanks for the replies.
the really long subject says it all. i tried anandtech articles and tomshardware but i can't find any good articles comparing the different manufacturers of the 6800 GT cards.
the evga seems to be popular on newegg but i was hoping for some real comparisons :)
if no good comparisons exist...
