Yeah the only thing u have to do is increase the brightness a little bit... the problem u may be facing is that since ur in car and laptop is running in battery power setting might have reduced the brightness... "yeah increasing the brighness will drain the battery more faster
Well the easy way is to intall the new hard disk and use the recovery cd to put back the os image . and after recovery is over u can convert the fat partion to NTFS partion using command the "convert" command
But the better way always is to start it from scratch make more than one partion...
Its not only limited to formatting.. what u have to do is partitioning ... Linux need at least two partion to work on is "/ "(root) and other is /swap (swap partion) ... as for the filesystem is concerned u can even install linux in Fat filesystem (though it would be a bit slow)
thanks for the replies . I Have seen Network admins using Micrsoft SMS server to deploy the patch and keep them updated . that is much easier to deploy from network than going to windows update site
After every windows installation . Windows update takes around couple of hours to download the hotfix and patches
Is there any site which hosts all the service patch and fixes released after Windows XP/sp2
so that we could download it all in one go and use it when ever we do an...

Besides speedstep feature and battery life ..How does the celeron M 1.3 stand with P-M1.5 .
Did the 200Mhz diff and the low cache memory of celeron showed significant drop in performace ??
here's the thread i came across in another linux forum might be useful for those try to get wxga to work with linux (855 chipset)
editing xfree for xwga http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=221053
if getting celeron M before jan 2005 , chances are you might be getting it with Banias core.....except few models ... from Q1 2005 intel will ship most of celeron M with Dothan core only
15.4 Widescreen and linux
Have any one tried Linux with wxga or wsxga+ resolution on those widesceen laptop .
Do we have to edit Xfree to get it working?
Most Live cd (knoppix, slax) use 1024x768 as default resolution .Did any one face a problem using these live cd ( like having to...
Does that mean you cannot get svga or xga on 15.4 (with out being streached or modifed ) if so does that streaching make svga and xga undesirable on 15.4
Which other resolution fits 15.4 other than the native wxga
How does normal resolution like vga ( for classic games) , svga , xga look in the 15.4 Wide screen does it get streached..... or is there an option to see it as normal ( by leaving the xtra .4" inch blank)
Till celeron 340 it uses banias core ( 130mm ) with 512kb and...from 350 onwards its Dothan core (90mm) and 1mb l2 cache . Which means the new dothan based will have more or less the same performance of pentium mobile when used for day to day application...

PC133 MHZ works fine on intel 810e but the problem is that it will show only half the orginal capacity
eg -- 256MB will show only 128MB
could any one suggest a work around for this problem
When i put 256 MB PC133 SDRAM on intel 810e motherboard it shows only half the size (128MB). But when i put it on my p4 system is shows 256 MB itself
No matter which ever size PC133 SDRAM put on the 810e it only shows the half the size. But if PC100 SDRAM is used it shows the correct size
Why...
