Hi all.
Hopefully someone will be able to help my situation. I have (and have had) several USB devices connected to my computer (ie. hp inkjet, hp scanner, modem). I also connect a san disk compact flash reader to my front usb jack to download pictures from my digital camera. Everything was...
I have had a visor for several years without problem. I just installed XP and can't get it to sync. It's like XP don't recognize the visor. I'm using a usb cradle and the visor deluxe.
any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks.

I think the adapter is fine. It sees the drive as U160.
I tried the low level format and got 2 different kinds of errors. First I got serveral bad block errors and clicked ok to reassign. After several of those erros, I got a scsi command error.
I think the drive is toast. Any other...
I've been working with a maxtor 10k III with an adaptec 29160 without a problem.
I went and picked up a ibm 160/10k drive on ebay. It had the 80pin sca adapter so I purchased a converted and installed it. The 29160 saw the drive correctly, but I've been having nothing but problems with it. I...
Using a home stereo is allways the better choice, but at a much greater cost. There is almost no limit on what you can spend on an amp/receiver and speakers. A good home setup with dolby digital will probably be in the range of $2000.00 with ok speakers. You would need a receiver which is an...
I've made a boot disk in WinXP without a problem and booted from it several times. The only problem is there are no dos utilities on the boot disk. It just gets you to a dos prompt and you're on your own. If I need a bunch of dos utilities, I still use my win98 boot disk.
I have a similar setup. Instead of the logitech stuff, I have an airboard. Works great and is cordless.
The all in wonder is a good choice for this. All the software is included. I would recommend however a much bigger hard drive.
ABIT - Had a KA7 that sucked. Completely unstable and I wasn't even overclocking it. It finally fried and took the CPU with it. I'm done with ABIT. Sinse I've had an ASUS and a Shuttle board with no problems at all.
I have a couple of ATI cards. I love the features but have had some...
Don't want to show my age, but:
The first computer I used were trs80's at school. I did some BASIC programming.
My first was a TI994A with a cass. drive. and speech synth adapter (real cool). I learned a lot on that thing. I also had a Tandy TRS80 Model 1. It had 2 floppies (no hd) and a...
I have a phoneline home network and it works great. I have 10mb pci pna cards in both machines and I get over 8mb consistently. Which is fast enough for anything I'm doing over the network. I share certain drives, a printer, and of course my cable modem internet connection. Works great for...
I have to agree. The Shuttle AK31v3 is an excellent board. I've put together 3 systems so far with this board and have had no problems at all with great performace and tweaks.
I have a similar setup. Santa Cruz hooked to a Denon AVR3600. Make sure you are connecting the top miniplug(yellow) on the Santa Cruz to the coax digital input on your receiver. It's one cable. You will need to convert the single rca to miniplug for your sound card. Also make sure to go to...
I'm looking to customize my case and need to find 2 color led to replace my hard drive led on the case. I want to show the different hard drive lights.
Does anyone know where to get this stuff???
I have the Lian-Li PC68 - Same as PC60, but with different front fan guard. The attention to detail is amazing. This is by far the best case I've ever owned. It was as if everything was thought out and had a specific fuction.
It is very well put together and has a lot of nice touches.
There are some issues I've heard of with the Geforce 2 and WinXP. I don't think there is a fix out yet. I would just make sure to stay current with your nvidia drivers and check their website often for updates. Maybe someone else has an immediate fix out there???
I wouldn't use either pad. I would get some artic silver compound instead. Just apply the compound to the cpu core and install the heatsink. I have the same setup and have the fan label showing. It works great! My Athlon XP 1700 runs at 39 deg. cent.
Like DaveK said make sure everythink in ok in the scsi bios. If all is well then try to manually install the latest win95 drivers manually in windows. (download from adaptec's website).
Adaptec Website
I have an adaptec 29160 installed in WinXP. WinXP saw the scsi card and installed the...
XP is the best processor. I have a 1700+ and have been able to post at 1.9GHz (havn't tested it yet, but it posted). Also, the XP runs a lot cooler than the 1.4GHz Athlon-C. I have both and the 1.4 runs at about 55deg.cen. and the XP w/same hs/fan runs at about 38deg.cen.
I have the Shuttle AK31v3 and love it. It's rock solid and very fast - not to mention cheaper than the Epox board. Why not save the $$. I've also heard of some minor issues with the Epox board, but none with the Shuttle board. Also my personal experience has made me a shuttle fan.
Make sure you have pin 1 on motherboard to pin 1 on cable - same goes for cable and drive. Also make sure you are hooking the drive to the end of the cable with the twist. If you have 2 connectors for floppy drives and 1 for the motherboard (ie. 3 connectors) use the one on the end - not the...
I want to get the most out of my system, but don't want to sacrifice too much stability for performance.
What can I tweak easily and what precautions should I take. I keep hearing that the athlon is very operclockable - want to see how fast I can get it.
I have:
Athlon XP 1700
Shuttle AK31v3...
I know that there are currently no sound cards that will encode dolby digital out to the receiver, but will output dolby digital dvd playback. The sblive 5.1 should do this. Are you sure that windvd is 5.1 compatable? I know some dvd software players are not. I've been able to do this with...
I'm tweaking a system and keep hearing different opinions as to virtual memory settings in windows. Should you let windows do its thing or set the min and max virtual memory manually?
I've heard that a good setting is 6 times your ram for both the min and the max settings. Does this sound...
I'm thinking of getting some round cables - are they worth it and do they perform as well as the regular ribbon cables. I would be getting floppy, ide, scsi (lvd & idc)
thanks
I have the cable installed correctly. The drive is working but seems like it cannot read a certain part of every disk. When I usually have problems with floppy drives they either work or don't work at all - not this middle of the road stuff.
I just recently installed a new motherboard and am having problems with my floppy drive. When trying to boot from a win98 startup disk, it goes through the whole process and then at almost the end I get a cannot read from drive a: error. Also when formating a floppy in windows it tells me I...
Not sure. Every bios I've ever seen have never diferentiated between drive letters, they have allways just referenced physical hard drives in the system and floppy, scsi, cdrom, etc...
I have never seen a bios that lets you pick a drive letter. - In fact I don't think the bios can see drive...
The bios boot sequence is just determining which device to boot from (ie. hard disk, cdrom, floppy, etc...) not different partitions on a single drive.
Flash your bios dude!!!!
The same thing happened to me with an Athlon XP 1700 and new shuttle kt266a motherboard.
At boot up it said I had an Athlon 1100GHz.
I went to shuttle's website and downloaded the latest bioes (which by the way listed Athlon XP compatabilitiy as one of the fixes in the...
I have the sound blaster live! value w/ several internal audio inputs. Would it make sence to just hook my cd directly to cdin on the soundcard and the aiw radeon to the aux input on soundcard also leaving my external line in on my soundcard available for something else and leaving the cdin on...
Has anyone used the CD in/out connectors on the AIW Radeon?? They are 2 internal sound connectors. The manuel gives very basic/vague information. What are these used for???
I have the Shuttle kt266a and Athlon 1700. Not problems at all. Had to flash the shuttle bios so that it would recognize my athlon 1700 (before the flash it saw a athlon 1.1ghz - weird). Other than that no problem at all. WinMe runs fine along with WinXP. I have a dual boot with those two...
I have the AIW Radeon and it works great. You will definately see a performance increase from your old video card and you also get all the cook AIW features built in.
I just upgraded my computer. I installed a new motherboard (shuttle ak31 v3) and processor (Athlon XP 1700) w/512mb pc2100 ram. I am dual booting to Windows XP and Me. After installing the upgrade I can't boot into XP. WinMe booting fine and loaded all the new drivers for the board...
