I have this board and I had problems using the 3.33 divider with my budget 667ddr2 memory. 3.00 and 4.00 work fine. Im wondering if this might be what is keeping you from going past 300fsb. Im oc'ing a pentium d with this board till I can afford a c2d so Im not pushing the fsb limits at all.
Sandra math/media cpu bench puts my 805d at 3.7ghz on par with an x2 at 2.2ghz. Yes I realize this is a synthetic bench and doesnt show real performance in apps. Still I was pleased to see that the D can keep up.
I got a 805d and a gigabyte 945d motherboard from newegg 2 weeks ago. On stock voltage I got up to 3.6ghz. A .05v bump to 1.45 got me to 3.7ghz. Thats where Im at now with no issues at all. The weird thing is my temps are freakishly cool. 34 idle and 45 load. I thought it was a faulty temp...
I finally got my agp Nvidia 6800gt, and my pcie ATI x800gto to coexist after alot of struggling with different combinations of drivers, bios options and monitor configurations. I tried to find some info on how to get this to work before the whole trial and error session but after scouring forums...
Thats 2 pci cards by my count. You will definitely have access to 2 slots. Also you have a higher bandwidth pcie x1 slot. Siig makes some inexpensive pcie cards for many common pci devices.
When I bought this motherboard I read about the problems people had running at 1t and some people had no problem at all. Its funny that people seem to think if you can run your memory at 1t that you must be a lucky one who got a "good" board. The issue is almost definitely caused by another...
I have the siig version of that card. Its not raid but its the same card, different bios. The sil 3132 is a pretty cool sata II controller. You can even get a siig port splitter in the future and run a raid5 array on that card. I am using mine with 2 sata I drives in a windows dynamic raid...
I finally got my agp Nvidia 6800gt, and my pcie ATI x800gto to coexist last night after alot of struggling with different combinations of drivers, bios options and monitor configurations. I tried to find some info on how to get this to work before the whole trial and error session but after...
There is something funny about the usb ports on this asrock board. I have mine configured correctly, most stuff works fine. My 80gig usb 2.5" external drive soaks up as much power from a usb port as any device could and it functions on all the ports. One problem Im having is that it never...
There is no need for NCQ in a single user environment. I leave NCQ disabled on my sata II drive because all it does is create more cpu work load with no increase in performance. If I was running a file server or webserver, I would enable NCQ. I would still try to use the jmicron port because...
I got to setting up this board last night. My board came with the 1.5 bios loaded.
I can't seem to find the 1t/2t command rate option. The bios is a little weird, is the "gated" option refering to the command rate? And then there is a memory setting for enabling memory compatibility mode...
Obviously not suited for your needs, sata ports can support multiple sata devices

I would go with something like this to put in a pcie x1 slot

I gotta think that having your video card right up against your hard drive is gonna cause you to overheat and become unstable during long gaming sessions.
Has anyone read the THG review of the m1697 reference board? Its so weird how almost every single benchmark has it scoring neatly just...
Ok trying to make sense of things as I put together the drivers I will use for this board.
ASRock offers:
"ULi AGP Driver Ver:2.30" for both XP and XP x64
they appear to be the same exact file, same size and file name.
The latest ULi integrated drivers describes the agp driver's...
From the bios history on the asrock website it looks as if the only changes made between bios 1.2 and 1.5 are more cpu support. Since I have a first generation 3500+ 90nm (think its winchester core? not sure) are there any features I'll miss by not flashing to the new 1.5 bios?
Also, is...
This thread is crazy big
Anyway I ordered this motherboard today. Im moving from my asus a8v to this mostly for the advanced chipset which should give me better performance from my bfg 6800gt. Also I like that it seems to overclock well with stock voltages and tight memory timings. Im not...
I just got my 193p and I am satisfied. Ive been gaming with doom3 and eq2. Reguarding ghosting/motion blur I would agree that it probably bothers some people more than others. I can say that the blur on this screen is significantly less noticable than other 25ms displays Ive seen. If you are...
I guess this game has a strange economy that costs real dollars....given that, it is a REAL investment. People are paying this guy cash to buy plots of land off of what is his, and they are taxed for coming onto his land and hunting and stuff for REAL money. I've never played this game but...
OK I take back what I said about THG using better memory but after going back and reading their review I really dont know which memory they used and on which board. Here is a quote from the article
"It should be noted that the BH5 memory modules we used for testing are no longer available...
THG's benchmarking gives the VIA chipset the clear edge. So I guess it's whoever you want to believe. The biggest difference I see between anand's review and THG is that THG is using better memory. Other than that I don't know
Why is it that if someone asks a dumb question like "should I get an intel or an amp cpu?" everyone responds 6 times over and when someone asks a REAL question all I get are crickets!!!!! :P
If you plan on using SLI mode than wait for the new boards by all means. But at this point there are no performance gains from benchmarks Ive seen between a 6800gt AGP and PCIe and I know that the next time I invest money into a video card I will probably have moved or will be moving to a new...
Has anyone read the article on this site reguarding socket 939 motherboards and how memory benefits from timings set to 2-2-2-10 rather than 2-2-2-5? I havent seen anyone using these timings in their sig and I'm wondering how true this is.
Timings are explained under the 2nd table
I am having the same issues, higher temps since I installed my NV5 last week. Tomorrow Im going to remove the cooler and sand and polish the copper to try and get better heat transfer. The surface was not incredibly smooth as I remember when I first put it on. I might try some blue loc tite...
I bought the NV5 and installed it yesterday. I used Arctic Silver compound instead of the stuff they give you in the box. I was expecting a dramatic difference but was dissapointed by my results, only a couple degrees cooler than my stock BFG cooling unit. I was able to increase my overclock...
I built a system using the asus a8v motherboard...a 3500+ winchester cpu...powered by an antec 350watt smartpower power supply. I wanted to do a little overclocking but I am having trouble adjusting the core voltage. Any setting I use from 1.45v to 1.55v registers as 1.45v after saving my...
