    Question about "Core Temp" proggie

I'm in the process of building and oc'ing my new E6400 machine and have a question about temps displayed by Core Temp. My core 0 is at 20 deg C and my core 1 is at 25 deg C. Is it normal to have that big a difference between the 2?

    Power supply question

Thanks for the suggestions on the power supplies. 400-450w would be enough? I'll probably go closer to the 450 then just to be safe. Anyone have suggestions on single video cards or ram?

    Power supply question

I'm getting ready to build a new machine, not SLI or Crossfire. I'll probably be getting the Biostar TForce P965 and pair it with an e6600. I'll be running 3 or so harddrives, one optical and probably stay with my X700 (unless someone has a suggestion for a decent card < $150 ) I want to...

I have a router with a firewall and run virus software/spware/adware stuff. I've never had a problem without running the XP Firewall or SP2 on my machines. Thanks

Advice Needed -- Win XP Pro or WinXP x64 Pro??

In that case, I think I will stick with WinXP but without SP2. I'll only install SP1 and all the patches individually. I don't want all that other junk.... firewall, etc..

Advice Needed -- Win XP Pro or WinXP x64 Pro??

If there is no difference between runtime of anything running on WinXp vs WinXp 64 bit, why should I switch knowing that I could possible run into issues with software and/or hardware?

Advice Needed -- Win XP Pro or WinXP x64 Pro??

I primarily use my system for Programming assignments, Video Encoding, web surfing, and some gaming (NeverWinter Nights and soon to be Guild Wars). I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion on which OS I should install (between the 2 choices above :) Are there any issues with either choice...

I know if you are running Win XP with most motherboards the P4's with HT are automatically recognized as such and it is enabled.

    F@H project 1134

Ok the P4 3.2 is taking 49 minutes per frame for project 1134 (my home Sempron 3100+ takes 31 minutes per frame for the same project) and it takes 31 minutes per frame on project 1310. So I guess if the P4 were doing only project 1134 it would take approximately 25 minutes per frame? If...

Thanks for the info GleeM. I knew about looking up the project but the server information was new to me and quite interesting. Also, I just got F@H running on my Hyper-Threading 3.2 P4 at work (2 instances). One of the projects it got was the same as the one I'm running at home. I will be...

Wow, I feel sorry for Dave McOwen. It's much more relaxed at my place of work and I'd never get fired for installing this software. We have a document which outlines what we can and cannot do to our work computers. Installing freeware that is not entertainment software is not against our...

    F@H project 1134

GleeM thanks for the concern but I'm a state worker and they can't fire me for installing freeware on my computer. At the very worst I'd get taken into my manager's office and get a verbal reprimand and be told to uninstall it. Not such a bad consequence for doing good with unused CPU cycles. :)

Thanks again Gleem for the nice welcome. I just ordered a new mb for my 3rd rig at home so I can set up F@H on it too. When I go to work tomorrow I will install it on my work computer (as I've already given myself administrator privileges on that machine;)) Since I don't do any cpu intensive...

No offense taken. I didn't want to offend anyone either. I just was curious as to the attraction to Seti. Like you said I may even switch to UD as both my maternal grandparents died of Cancer. Anyway, I hope everyone has a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. :)

    F@H project 1134

I'm running the above project on the rig in my signature and was curious if anyone else was on this project as well. My computer completes a group of steps every 31 minutes for this project. Is that normal, good, bad? Just curious. :)

    EARLY_UNIT_END

Guys I found the answer in a sticky on the Folding@Home forums. It looks like Gromacs sometimes just gets into a state where it can't continue or my computer is unstable. If it happens again I guess I'll have to clock my system back a bit. :(

    EARLY_UNIT_END

The following message is what was in my log. Is it something that I should be concerned about? My system is oc'd a bit but I ran Prime95 for 24 hours with no errors so i believe it is pretty stable. [02:40:00] Writing local files [02:40:00] Completed 27500 out of 250000 steps (11)...

    Sempron 3100+ OC question

Budman, I flashed my mb with the newest bios and couldn't get the HTT above 260 stable, so I flashed back to the bios that came with the board and have it at 265 and ran Prime95 overnight for 8 hours without any errors. So hopefully that means it's stable. I have the settings as follows...

    Sempron 3100+ OC question

    Sempron 3100+ OC question

I don't know why my idle temp is so high. What is a normal idle temp for these Semprons? Maybe the mb is reporting it wrong. As far as the memory goes, should I try to find an HTT where I can run the memory at 200mhz or is it fine that I've turned the memory down to 166 and OC'd the HTT...

    Sempron 3100+ OC question
