    Asus M2N4-SLI Does not boot!!

Pheonix (Award) BIOS use the same code, so no matter what board or BIOS version you have, the beep code is the same. These fine gentlemen are correct in their assessment, one long and two short = video error.

    Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe GR

Still have one of those boards running. Takes whatever I throw at it. Probably one of the best AMD boards ever made IMO.

    Anyone blown a PSU...

Won't that burn your lips.................................... Never had a PSU blow out on me. I doubt heat from your PrescHot is what killed it. What PSU were you running?

6800XT PCI-e Coming soon from XFX.

These are 8 pipe cards and nvidias way of eliminating the 6600GT line. It's easier and cheaper for them to eliminate a production line on the 6600 core and stick with the 6800 which will be phased out soon as well. They need to keep a budget line and eliminate cost to them.

What is a good sounds card?

I would stay away from M-Audio if he wan't good sound from using it as an input device for a mixer. The best card out there right now is the Bluegears Mystique. They will come out with a new card soon (though now they are sold to Auzentech, which will continue their excellent product line).

    Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI or EPoX 9NPA+SLI?

Go with the Epox, you'll be much happier with your purchase.

I switch rigs like some people change clothes. I get bored with a rig after a few months and try something new.

Gotta love those Epox boards. I kinda miss my 9NPA+Ultra.

$80 shipped for the evga board that came with card

Except the DFI is $80-100 more depending on which SLI model. I would stick with a proven board though, the eVGA aren't that great.

LOL. That's the Magic "you passed POST" beep. If you don't get that, then you aren't booting.

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Yeah, plain and simple, the MSI sucks compared to the Epox. Shouldn't need much more convincing than that. Seriously though, check around some other forums, especially like XS and you will see the headaches people have gone through with their MSI, and to make it worse, their latest revs are...

    DFI or ASUS

Why not? You can put your Audigy in the slot above the bottom PCI-E slot or under it. The new bridge is also a flexible one, not a solid pcb like previous bridges which helps for working other components between gfx cards. With 8 phase power regulation (amazing) and great features, if I had the...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

It is very difficult to get 4 sticks of memory stable on nF4 based motherboards. Be sure you have 2T enabled and maybe loosen the RAM timings and increase vdimm a bit.

64 bit bus means you are not in dual channel. Also, be sure to set your driver settings properly. No AA or AF and set to best performance. Set DDR to 400 in BIOS.

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

You should have no problems at all with the SI-120, though I have heard the power cord may get close if you have a cheaper PSU with a short main power cord.

EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra Reading 10.4V on +12V line

Not really a downfall as there is no real way to monitor the 12v rail, especially now-a-days with dual, triple and even quad 12v rail PSUs. Which one would they monitor? The one for the cpu? The one for the fan headers? See my point. Use a DMM to check 12v rails if you must, but as long as you...

    M2 Speculation

DDR2 is much cheaper than DDR, so we will have to see if the cost of the new cpu's and motherboards (and I am sure they will be high), will out weigh any possible performance increase. Somehow I don't see DDR2 533 4-5-5-10 beating out my XMS which can run DDR 554 2-2-2-6 on the right...

    good OCing mobo

But the Asrock BIOS is SOOOOO limited, I would wait for the Abit version to come out soon or if you can't wait, get one of the afore mentioned boards.

    good OCing mobo

There are DFI nF3 939 mobo with AGP now, but they are not near the board the nF4's are and reportedly plagued with problems. The winner for 939 AGP boards seems to be the MSI K8N Neo2 or Epox 9NDA3+.

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

A black spot on the gpu and heatsink really sounds like bad news to me. There should be only thermal goop/tape and nothing else. Any signs of a clear or brownish liquid? Def sounds like the video card is borked. A lot of older pci cards don't like todays new boards, maybe try each pci slot.

Upgrading to PCIe - AMD Athlon 64 Motherboard

Without buying a new PSU, go with the Epox or an Asus motherboard, they still play really well with 20 pin PSUs, though it's still not recommended officially. The DFI will not like an inadequate PSU. I've heard real horror stories about the MSI, but it may have been fixed with BIOS updates...

Setting up a EPOX 9NPA+ Ultra

I agree with Pentium Guy, the Active Armor is total garbage, it borked my system. Also, the IDE drivers are pretty bad as well, I've had problems with them as far back as I remember. I thought I might trust them after moving back to AMD/nVidia from an Intel system, but they caused problems with...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

XP90 is a good Heatsink, I'm using one and a decent low db 90mm fan won't be loud at all. I can't hear mine of the 80mm fans I have in my case.

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Which one would you like to monitor. Modern PSUs have dual, triple and even quad 12v rails, so which one do you monitor. Only way to be sure is with a DMM, thus the lack of 12v rail monitoring. Also, you can't really trust BIOS for accurate rail measurement. The same PSU will read different on...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

The latest BIOS does not support nVmonitor, nTune or any of that other garbage software. Use USDM utility on the install disk. MBM is out dated and will not have any new revisions.

Help Me Choose an nForce4 Ultra motherboard

I would make a decision soon or you will be even more undecided. Too many new boards coming out. You'll only be more tormented with decisions. New Epox 2 x 16x PCI-E SLI and Crossfire, ATi's new boards look amazing and that Jetway seems like a winner that came out of nowhere.

    Looking at a P4 mobo...

For socke 478, I had an Epox EP-4PDA2+, EP-4PCA3+, Abit IS7, IC7-G Advance and also Asus P4P800-E Deluxe and P4C800-E Deluxe and I would have a hard time recommending one over the other. The IS7 overclocked to the highest FSB and the EP-4PDA2+ gave the most amazing non-buffered memory...

    AMD 64 Mobo recommendation

Do a search, the most recommended board right now is the Epox EP-9NPA+Ultra and the DFI Lanparty nF4 Ultra-D. I have used both and I can tell you the Epox was the better of the two. My first DFI died while I was at work and the second one I couldn't get to run stable without BSODs despite trying...

    choosing amd 64 939 Mobo

If you want headaches, compatibility problems, and premature death......the DFI is the way to go. I know, I had two of them and they were a nightmare. There is nothing budget about the Epox, it is made of quality components and is priced reasonably at about $115 shipped.

    AOpen nCK804Ua-LFS Motherboard report

If you want to overclock, I suggest not purchasing the AOpen, although they do provide some OCing options, they tend not to be the best overclockers. If you are looking for longevity, this is definately the board, if you want overclocking ability and longevity, the Epox is the way to go. It's...
