    FSB vs Multiplier

I decided to change the multiplier and FSB setting in my bios around and was a little suprised to see the results. I wasn't trying to overclock and the settings that I used equated to be close the the initial setting of 2158. It was set up for 13x 166. I have an AMD XP 2700 and am running...

    DVD Media

Yeah I was looking around AnandTech and they actually had a really good review on it. -R is better for standalone and is genearally more accepted, and cheaper. Thanks for the help.

    Are these temps right?

It just seems a little high to me. I mean I have heard of people getting 50+ C on stock heatsink/fan. This just seems a little high concidering I didn't skimp on the cooling.

    Computer Restarts

well it doesn't really sound like an overheating issue, but if you still want to know you can check your bios in the case that windows never loads. there is usually a section in your bios that will give thermal readings for your proc without having to start windows, try that to get some idea...

7200 rpm hard drive...how much performance boost ?

the 7200 will load a LOT faster than the 5400, i dont have any numbers, but i know it will be faster. your HD has nothing to do with FPS so you can't test it like that but there is no real reason to go out of your way to find a 5400 when 7200 are so plentiful, and if and when you do get the...

Building a new computer, this is my blueprint, need opinion

unless you have a sff case i dont think that case space would be a problem. one thing that you do have to watch however is the capacitors next to the cpu. i know that some mobos have their capacitors so close to the socket that some of thermalrights heatsinks wont fit. youll probably want to...

OMG im sick of these damn random restarts!!!!!!

well it MIGHT be the PSU but it seems like 480 should be more than enough. and if you said your temps are fine that rules out overheat. which leads me to believe that you might need to update you bios. i had the EXACT same problem that you are having. my temps were fine and everthing too...

Win XP Installation on Single SATA Drive (No Frickin Clue)

and im 90% sure that the promise is attached to the south bridge chip, atleast with my mobo. because i know that i read how onboard SATA is better performance than a PCI card b/c PCI bandwith is restricted to 133 mbs and onboard CAN reach up to 155 mbs. and im using a promise controller on the...

as for a good CPU cooler, nothing really beats anything from Thermalright http://www.thermalright.com/]http://www.thermalright.com/ They just came out with their new XP-120 that bad boy sports a 120mm fan! as for the fan I would suggest the Enermax Adjustable Speed 120mm Cooling fan...

Win XP Installation on Single SATA Drive (No Frickin Clue)

"The chipset should natively support the drive. " Just because the SATA is onboard and not a PCI card does not mean that it is natively supported. I have a asus mobo that has onboard SATA which needs drivers to be installed. Is there any reason why you want to us the ICHR5 and not the Promise...

Could it be the Power Supply?

It sounds like it could be a PSU problem, heat problem (depending on the cfm rating of the fans), or what happened to me, an bios driver update. my bios drivers had a conflict with some hardware and rebooted quite often. check asus's website for updates. another thing to look for is the power...
