    The Vista Hive

yes, sort of. the driver is installed in the Device Manager and ATITool starts just fine, but does not read GPU clocks, probably because of the display drivers being crap, so though it works and is installed, it's kind of pointless until better drivers drop. Nothing is reading the GPU bios...

Your experience with Vista Beta 2

the Stash isn't going to like this method one bit, but here you go  I put this up a couple days ago (my handle= hawkeyefan on all boards but this one) you need to disable User Access Control, disable Driver Signing, and use an XP x64 driver...and install twice. plus some goofy bugs...

Looking for someone running Vista with an Audigy 2 or X-Fi (x86 version)

which driver are you using...cause Vista betas from Creative do not work with the public release Vista beta 2 build 5384...not made for it. everyone installing those is getting either no sound or stereo. you have to install the 2.08.004 driver for XP/XPx64 and do it by the following...

Am I missing something? nVidia control panel in Vista is incomplete (now with pics)

yeah but it's still not a completely functional Control Panel...a lot of the optimiztaions you're trying to access simply are not present in the current 88.61 driver packs

Your experience with Vista Beta 2

I've gotten all of those to work, CPU-Z, MBM5, PowersTrip, a whole bunch of stuff usually you need to run either the installer or the program itself either in Windows XP SP2 Compatiblity Mode, or at the very least right-click>>Run as Administrator

Vista X64 or 32bit, Which is better

you sure?? cause Prime does not function properly in Vista....throwing up false errors because of DEP or something

Vista X64 or 32bit, Which is better

#1 question would be which sound provider are you using? X-fi appears to be nonfunctional on either. Audigy 2/4 should be fully functional if you install them properly imho x64 is extremely stable for a beta. it is now my primary OS. check my sig for hardware, at this point the only...

    Vista Questions

no, but in the same token, everyone is claiming only stereo sound out of their Audigy cards, which is flat-out baloney. I suspect the X-Fi situation is precisely the same. have you tried the method I suggested? not to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only person alive right now...

    Vista Questions

try these Vista betas would not install for me, XP x64 drivers work perfectly if they won't install for you, extract the files, navigate to extracted folder, right-click Setup.exe, navigate to Compatibility tab, enable XP SP2 Compatibility mode same goes with AudioConsole Setup.exe and...

    Vista Questions

fwiw, you don't need to go through all that...changing active partitions Vista has a bootloader that simply allows you to choose which OS you want to run in DOS. not a bad feature imho what soundcard are you using Navid? I got my Audigy 2 fully functional in Vista x64 (i.e. all speakers...

    AM2 X2 cut by 50% on July 24

I'm thinking it would be borderline retarded to mark down AM2s but not identical S939 chips.
  17. T

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 compared directly to an Opteron 165 @ 3GHz

    1) both have been @ 90nm process for years, and Intel was not competitive on that process. wait until AMD 65nm to make that kind of claim, imho. 2) AM2 enjoys whopping jump up in bandwidth (like AMD needed more) over S939. this is why you see AM2 (even S939) still taking the crown at high...

    DDR3 available in Q4?

no it isn't. AM2=M2 = sorry but it's already here, released in retail form. it supports BOTH DDR2 and DDR3 already. there is ZERO support for DDR1 from this point forward, as both CPU companies' "modern" platforms don't even use it....at all. maybe you're thinking of AM3= K8L ?

install=yes run=yes I can get NVStrap driver, PowerUser options, Hardware Monitoring etc. but RivaTuner will not read driver information. so everything on top half=yes, everything under "drivers" = no. PowerStrip however does read GPU/mem clocks properly and will even set overclocks...

    CPU temp reading 93C?????

SpeedFan is quite possibly the most useless piece of crap ever put forth on the overclocking world it has three possible settings for each temP: 127C 93C ~ 10C higher or lower than the actual temp those are you options. SpeedFan is for *^*^ imho. Software monitoring is a lose-lose...
