    Doing my first build soon

Ok, I just have one quick question for you guys, everywhere I have been says only put something on the cpu the size of a grain of rice (thermal paste) that sounds reasonable. But what about the Heatsink? Should I be putting some thermal paste on there? If not, I was worried that the...

Put the mobo in first? I also heard wear shoes and do it on tile.. I wasnt aware you had to touch the PSU to ground yourself... I thought it was jsut an unpainted part of the case?

something is wrong with my hdd ... about 75GB of space is MISSING!!

I am sure you would get a different result running through Linux. If not, then I am thinking of the wrong problem. My thought are that windows labels everything with GIGA, while drive manufacturers use GIGI

gigibyte != gigabyte it is windows fault, but that is all you have.

So wait, if teh power blinks, or if your PSU dies, you could fry parts???! How can you prevent this?

    Doing my first build soon

Hahah werd. Someone did something like that earlier (glad i was there to learn form it) PSU had 20 pin power cord, MOBO had 24 pin receptor. He had it stationed in the middle so that there were two on each side... he had to have it so pin 1 was activated.

Thinking about a Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW? Think again.

I really think that any high end CRT will EXPECTEDLY outperform a 2005FPW, BUT, you gain so many more things. I myself do not have enough desk space to have a CRT (maybe I do, someone tell me what the depth on those things are?) and the slimness on those babies is just awesome. Also...

So, check this computer I am about to build

Ok, I replaced the two 6600gt's for a 6800gt by EVGA. Now all I need is a good nf3 AGP mobo... and I will order YYYEEESS!!!

Ok, well then, can anyone reccomend a good AGP mobo? The MSI K89 Neo 2 Platinum and the Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 are both out of stock. Also, now that I am not getting a NF4 mobo, what am I missing out on?

So, check this computer I am about to build

So are you guys saying that I should just get an AGP mobo? Then I will miss out on NF4.... I wanted to get a regular NF4 mobo at first, but then the PCI-E 6800gt's were all over 500 in price.... this scares me. This is a real puzzler.

So, check this computer I am about to build

That still doesnt solve my problem of not bieng able to find a 6800gt. I'd say 2 6600gt at 350 is better than one 6800gt at 550

Everyone I ask tells me to get a XP-90/120 instead.... I heard the 120 is a monster though, and since my board will be SLI, it might be too big? So you think I should just get the 90 and be safe? I guess it cools a lot better? About the Burner, I thought SATA would increase speed a lot...

So, check this computer I am about to build

Problem is, I CAN'T find a 6800gt anywhere (respectable). Besides, according to the tests here on this site, the two 6600gt's outperform any one 6800gt, even if it is Oc'd.

    Sound Card question :)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but should I buy this soundcard (Creative labs sound blaster 7.1 - like 30 dollars) or is the onboard audio that comes with a NF4 mobo (Realtek ALC850 8-channel - for example) better? I know it takes a little of my cpu, I just want a better sound experience, but 30...

    Doing my first build soon

Ok, I am building my first computer soon, and I am a little anxious to get this baby up and running. The thing is, I have never done anything like this before so I have a few questions. Is there anything I should know or anything I should keep in mind while building? I already know about...
