    RJ45 and USB plugs

Thanks for the reply! I'd never heard of Advanced Connectek, so thanks for sharing that link. I don't want to spray paint, so that's out. Right now I think I'll buy overmolded RJ45 cables and cut off the ends - I'll have plenty of colors to choose from, and they won't look too ghetto. For...

    RJ45 and USB plugs

This is a questions that relates more to the mechanical side of networking. I've got a server I'm giving to someone. I don't want them to be able to plug any USB or RJ45 cables into certain holes in the box, so I'd like to plug these up somehow. Are there brightly colored USB and RJ45 plugs...

    Television on the PC

I use the Hauppauge PVR-350 with hardware encoding. For software I use BeyondTV. It's all VERY easy to use, and the video is smooth and clear (no jerkiness that I've seen on other captured video). I haven't burnt anything to DVD yet, but I'd be using Nero for that. BeyondTV lets you chose...

    Wire Management

If you're going to do it, do it right - that means take some pictures so we can share in the coolness that will be your clean case! :) Let us know how it turns out, and post it back in here.

    What makes loading slow?...

I play in 1280x1024 with everything on High, Reflect World, 2xAA, 4xAF- works great. I have the 71.89 drivers and my card is slightly OC'd to 533/1067. My 3DMark03 score is 8470 if you want to compare systems with that benchmark.

    What makes loading slow?...

I have the Raptor, and I installed HL2 two days ago. The load times are still really slow - much more than I'm used to. Don't spend money to get the Raptor, because your load times are still going to frustrate you. I second the 'Die, Steam, Die!' comment. I've never dealt with a system...

Need more RAM, does CAS latency need to match current RAM?

Your BIOS should also tell you timings, if you don't feel like getting CPU-Z (although I recommend it - has lots of useful information in there)

    Good PSU?

I've got the Seasonic S12-500. Works great. It's about $125, so not that expensive for what you get out of it. What's your budget?

    Digital Camera's?

I've had the Minolta A1 for over a year and love it. Lots of features, good zoom (7x optical). Can record movies for as long as your memory card will take. Excellent image quality. DPreview has a good review - check it out while you're there. I paid $550 a year ago, so I'd bet it's a lot...

    Please HelP :)

103F is just under 40C - that's not that uncommon or bad. You didn't mention your motherboard...what are you running?

Need more RAM, does CAS latency need to match current RAM?

Memtest can tell you memory timings, but so can CPU-Z here.

    Problem with first startup...

They are probably just wired in there wrong. Switch them around to what it says on the motherboard and see if that fixes it.

Need more RAM, does CAS latency need to match current RAM?

Yes, when you put new RAM in, it will run at the slowest timings. If they are the same, you're all good. Just match the latency on the current RAM instead of spending money on something faster that will default to slow speeds anyway once you install it with old stuff.

Looking for a fancy black case

I have the ThermalTake Tsunami and really like it. Newegg has it the one with a window, minus a PSU, for $113 shipped - a little more than you wanted to spend, but it's a good case.

    What Companies Do You Use?

FrozenCPU was great. Got my products in the mail faster than Newegg.

    Wire Management

Obstructing airflow isn't ideal, but a stray wire here and there won't make a large difference - this is a computer case, not a 747 ;-) Is it worth spending all the time cutting/extending/soldering wires, with the possibility of something going wrong, to get that last wire out of the way...

    Wire Management

The main power connector can usually just be bent up to the top of the tower and then bent down to the mobo connection. For the molex connectors, there are a couple things you can do. If you only need to use 3 of the 4 on a string, skip the first one and then plug in the rest - saves you...

    Overclocking a GF 6600

Use NVMonitor, which checks GPU, CPU, and System temperature. NVMonitor I think gets installed with nTune. Even if you don't use nTune (I think), you can go into settings and there is a tab for just card temperature.

    PC Power and Cooling

All you have to do to clean up the extra wires is fold them up, zip tie them together, then zip tie the bundle to the upper rail in the case. Not necessary to get a modular power supply to clean up the wiring.

    Case Modding

Home Depot has multiple sizes and thicknesses. Just go to any of the big hardware stores and you're sure to find it.

    Video Card Cooling Options

Thanks for the tips. I guess for $8.98 shipped the little exhaust blower can't really hurt anything. I'll pick it up and see how it changes temps. Rike, let me see if I read you right. You suggest two fans - one intake, one exhaust - if I'm doing two fans. If I do one fan, you suggest one...

    Video Card Cooling Options

I was running 3DMark03 last night (7783, my best ever), and I had my temps running on the second monitor. I noticed that my video card was getting up to 85ºC, which is higher than I want it. I know my wiring leaves something to be desired, which is part of the problem, but there are two other...

Comparion of PCP&C 510 Series PSU

Thanks for the suggestions! But does anyone know the differences between the 510 Series PCP&P units? I think it may just be pin connections available, but I may be wrong. As for what I'm going to get, I placed my order for the Seasonic S12-500 this morning. I did a lot of looking around at...

Comparion of PCP&C 510 Series PSU

Five months ago I completed my first build (which was great), but now that I've lived with the computer for a few months, there are some things I'd like to change. The first is the subject of this thread - I bought a ThermalTake 480W PSU originally. Didn't realize until I was putting the...

Install a second video card to play games?

Didn't want to start a new thread for my related question... My second monitor does NOT disable when I start playing a game. It hasn't always acted like this, but I had to send the CRT (primary display) away for warranty work, and when I got it back and set up dual support again, the LCD no...

    DFI NF4 ULTRA-D and Ocz Plat Rev.2....

Thanks for the reply. I came home and swapped them out to DIMMS 1 and 3, but still wouldn't work. I put them again in DIMMS 2 and 4 just to see what would happen this time, and it goes into a infinite boot loop. Loads XP to the point where I can enter in a password, then reboots itself -...

    DFI NF4 ULTRA-D and Ocz Plat Rev.2....

I have the same problem! I have Corsair Value Select and can't get it to load in dual channel - only single. I can't remember if I've tried 1 and 3, so maybe I'll do that when I get home. Right now they are in 1 and 2, and of course, 2 and 4 don't work. So, just confirming, does running...
