Intel show Far cry in ray tracing/So to speak

Well, realtime raytracing might be feasible many years in the future; it would take an inhuman modern array to render a playable raytraced scene.

    Toshiba laptop RAM upgrade

I was wondering if anybody could point me towards a 2x2GB RAM kit that would function with a Toshiba Satellite X205-S9800; I know the A215-S5802 is finnicky with some. My model has an Intel Mobile GM965 chipset, if that matters.

    HSF for 8800GTS 320?

I'm something of a noise freak; I love my Accelero X2 on my X1800XL. I'll e upgrading sometime for Vista, and I'll want a DX10 card. I can't seem to find any info on what heatsinks will actually mount the 8800GTS. Case is a Centurion 5, if any of the HSF's have space issues.

    Quake 4 Artifacts

I switched to some Omega Drivers and it still happens, although to a lesser extent. I think I'll pick up a slot cooler to go in under my GPU. Strange how it doesn't glitch when running more demanding programs like 3DMark05, though.

    Quake 4 Artifacts

When I play SP on my X1800XL (latest official drivers - 5.13), I get artifacts and garbled parts of the screen after a short period. However, this does not happen on MP (which I think is somewhat more demanding). It does not occur when I fire up America's Army, either. Help? edit: It didn't...

    SATA HDD trouble

Yes. I found an included Promise driver diskette, loaded the drivers, and WINDOWS STILL DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE DRIVE. Any other suggestions? edit: There was some error with the SATA drivers included; how can I make my own boot disk?

    AS5 on a Vapochill Micro?

I'm planning to go for the mainstream Asetek HSF, but they use a proprietary thermal paste. How much cooler could I get it if I cleaned it with some Arctic Cleaner 1+2 and put on some AS5?

    Okay, what are my odds?

I am going to buy a new computer in the near future. I'm considering two mobos: Abit KN8 Ultra (or an AN8) Soltek SL-K890Pro-939 with this setup: Cooler Master Centurion 5 - Stock fans 3200+ Venice - Stock HSF Corsair XMS 2x1GB 3200C2PT What are my chances of hitting 220MHz on the...

    Cooler Master PSU's?

I thought OCZ was a fairly established PSU maker. They were my first consideration, but I saw a cheaper CM PSU, and CM is a good campany, as well. Now I'm going for the SeaSonic. I don't think I need a PCP&C ;)

Replacement fan and ramsinks for 9800 pro

Hey, you can't beat the 3 year warranty. If it's a bad card, it'll probably poop out long before the warranty runs out. I would also choose an XL over the PRO if you really want to get a new one. I would also get an XL over the PRO, if you want a new card. The AGP XL comes pretty cheap on...

Replacement fan and ramsinks for 9800 pro

What kind of X800 you getting? My bud recently picked up an X800PRO for $179 from the ATI clearance store. It works grrreat, and has a 3 year warranty to boot.

    Cooler Master PSU's?

My problem with the SeaSonic is the amp ratings, which are +12V1@14A, +12V2@15A. AFAIK, that's pretty low. edit: My other choice to any of these PSU's would be an OCZ ModStream.

    Cooler Master PSU's?

Okay then. If anyone has any objections towards CM though, I'm also considering a 430W SeaSonic ($100) and a 450W Fortron ($50). edit: I'm no longer considering the SeaSonic; its amperes on the 12V rail are too low. The CM has 12V1-18A, and 12V2-16A. The Fortron has 18A on both of the 12V...

    Cooler Master PSU's?

I'm looking for a PSU for a new PC I'm building, and I want a PSU from 400-450 watts, in case there's some more power-hungry things I want to upgrade to in the future. I was looking at the COOLER MASTER Real Power RS-450-ACLY, because I know CM is good for cooling and cases (the build has a...

AMD 64 Heat Sink + Fan

Anyways, back on track, pick up the cheaper of the Arctic-Cooling S939 HSF's. They're real quiet. Or, if you want silence, pick up the more expensive model (Freezer 64). However, the cheaper one may have better cooling (just a hunch, as you can't really ever tell a difference when OC'ing Winnies).

    CPU fan/temps troubling

What? Speeze/MassCool owns. Get one of their WhisperRock II's + Arctic Silver 5. You can't get much cheaper or quieter than that (and they can supposedly keep a 3000+ Socket A at a decent temp).

Is an expensive PSU all that - or is it some crap everyone bought onto?

How is it being wasted? A 200Watt PSU will output 200Watts of peak power, no matter what the efficiency. Good PSU's can be had pretty cheap. Thermaltake's W0014 is outstanding, pretty much any OCZ is, etc. As long as you don't buy the cheapest of the cheap, you should be fine, even it has...
