Thanks for the advice but I decided to go with a Evga 6800gs for a game called Maximum Football. It has 3d graphics not Madden like but being able to make plays and use them in a league is nice.
burning card discussion
The psu did shut down. I do not overclock. I just want to make sure that another card will not do the same, although I have been using a refurb 6600td without a problem except for the monitor's popping noises and having to press the power button three times before...
to my video card. My crt will make a popping noise and then shut off. I have to press the button a few times for it to come back on. Could that be the cause for my 6600gt catching fire last week? I only have $200 to either replace the card or find a decent LCD for about $240.
Well I tma the card to Newegg and the card has been discontinued. So I have a $125 credit. My wife is letting me add $165 to it (my birthday tomorrow) here is my question. I am not a heavy gamer not with graphics anyway (text based sports games) should I use the $290 for a 7800gt or use the...
I wish I had a camera. This is my first build and I was saving money for an x2 so everything else has to wait, although I bought this card to replace a refurbed leadtek.
My Chaintech 6600gt I bought in december had flames coming from it. I am so lucky my mb did not fry. Will newegg replace it? Should I get another Chaintech? I am not a hardcore gamer, nor do I overclock anything I was beta testing a football game and the thing caught fire.
I agree with this case. I also got it for my first build it was easy and it is quiet. Newegg had it listed with a 450psu but it is 480 2.0 $20 less than Monarch. The best thing is my wife likes it.
I finished my very first build and it was fun. Everything seems to work ok accept when I turn off the system the mouse and a green light on the mobo stays on. And the case fan has not come on automatically but that is probably because of the Asus cool and quiet thing. My cpu temp stays 33-38...
Oh yes, that guide is the only reason I am building this myself. He does mention more than once the importence of reading the manual especially the mobo.
Well I pulled the trigger here is what I did
Asus A8ne mobo
Amd 3000+
1 gb Corsair
wd 80gb
nec cd/dvd
Antec case with 450w 2.0 psu
I will figure out a temporary vid card later.
Now I have to put the thing together:confused:
What do you think for my first time?
The thing about Asus is the new amd dual core cpus tested great on them. The whole reason for my system is to prepare for dual core. But up until this moment I wanted the cool looking DFI. On board audio which board is better?
I will buying mem slowly. 1gig every 3 months.
How about the mobo any thoughts? I have wanted the dfi for a while but I read that the dual cores ran well without bios update on the Asus
Will I need at least 500w psu with those new dual cpus? Antec does have new cases coming out with 500w psu I will call them tommorow to find out when they will be available.
This is were I'm at let me know what you think, I start ordering tommorow.
Asus A8n-e mobo or Dfi lanparty ultra
A64 3000+
Thermatake Viking case
Enermax PSU
I'm looking for 1Gb stick of memory so I can go 4gb when dual cores come out.
