Comcast sensors Nightline: Another Glorious Day In The Republic.

Comcast decides what you see. Pretty much speaks for itself. Following in the footsteps of AOL, which blocks content critical of AOL, Comcast recently censored a Nightline session that highlighted the sleeping technician story. Now that's customer service for you...not only has the problem...

What you probably didn't hear about in Iraq

Link to newspaper article "A group of American soldiers in an insurgent-riddled town allegedly noticed a young Iraqi woman when on patrol and later returned to rape her, according to U.S. officials Friday. In an apparent cover-up attempt, she and three members of her family then were killed...

    The US and Torture

A couple of months ago, I heard Craig Murray speak at the University of Chicago. He is the ex-ambassador to Uzbekistan for the UK, which makes him a fairly reliable witness. While much of the discussion was on the usual anti-Bush issues that any Republicans reading this are already gearing...

    Save The Internet

Haven't visited here in a while, and I was stunned to see that there isn't more dialog on this. We're about to lose the internet. Right now. It's happening. The United States just voted to allow telcos to give preferential treatment to anyone who can pay for it. This means that Google, for...

    Solid Website Hosting Deal, HostPC

Since I just tracked a lot of traffic to my site from this thread, I thought I'd come back and update my review again, since it seems people are still stopping by to read this. I had a few hiccups with HostPC in the middle, and I think their helpdesk support has gotten a little worse as...

Converting a list to a table in Excel

Hi all, I have a list in Excel. It's basically a few entries, an empty cell to seperate them, and then a few more entries. The data is an organization's name, followed by a few cells of contact information. This is making it impossible to mail-merge. Ideally, I need the data in several...

    OS recommendation?

My nonprofit just got an older laptop as a donation. It's a 486 Toshiba, no hard drive. It has an external CD rom drive (no idea if it can boot from it) and a floppy drive (presumably it can boot from this). Maybe 8 mb ram installed. Model number is T4700CS. I'd like a floppy-based version of...

moving swap files in OS X.3

I followed the instructions here. The problem is, my swap files appears to have not moved. This is the break condition of the mod...basically, if it has a problem loading the swap file into the "moved" location, it goes back and loads it where it was before. So what's the problem? Any...

External NTFS drive through Mac OSX

Ok...here's the scenario: I have an NTFS external disk with several volumes on it. All are formatted in NTFS under Windows XP. I realised belatedly that OSX will only read from an NTFS drive, and not write to it. How do i reformat this drive? Mac OSX's disk utility won't let me do...

    Laptop slowdowns?

My friend's laptop has this problem...even after a reformat / reinstall, it's REALLY slow. The machine runs about 1.3 Ghz, if i remember right, but it's incredibly slow...scrolling down on a webpage, for example, is blocky and you have to wait for it. It's MUCH slower than even a 500 mhz machine...

    Dimension 8200 won't "see" more than 140 G on a drive?

Hi all, My Dimension 8200 machine only sees about 140G of my 160 g drive. Is this even remotely normal for a drive with a stated 160G spec? I've read that older boards might not support more than 139G on a single drive...could this be the problem? Suggestions? -Dave.

Mac Notebook Hard Drive...where to buy?

    I just got a great deal on a Mac laptop...i believe it's a 300mhz G3. Surprisingly enough, i can't...
