I now have it at 1 Raptor HD, one new stick of cheap Kingston 1GB DDR2 4200 533MHz, one floppy, one video card. I can not even got it to POST anymore. I think the mobo is defective or something...cpu init.
I can not get my Striker Extreme to work properly. I have taken out battery, pushed "clear CMOS" button several times, and it still will always crash after I am in the BIOS for 30 secs to 2 mins. Any advice for this problem? It has 1305 BIOS.
I've taken out stuff for testing, and it now...
I have a side intake 120mm fan with radiator, and a rear intake 120mm fan with radiator. Should I connect these inline so they will cool the fluid more, or have one before the CPU, and one before the video cards? Here's my setup...
2 Black Ice Pro 120s
Aquastream pump, 6mm ID tubing

Thanks for the input guys! I ended up going with CORSAIR Dominator 4x1GB DDR2 1066, a pair of 8800 GTX OC cards (come stock clocked higher than Ultras, cost a lot less), and a QX6850 since after doing some more reading on forums, I don't think the QX9650 will work well with the 680i chipset...
Hi guys. I'm building my brother a PC for Christmas. It will be used primarily for gaming, so I am going with SLI and an Intel processor. I already have some AquaComputer watercooling stuff, so I will water cool the CPU and videocards.
Can anyone recommend what the optimum setup would be...
Thanks for the input. I'd like 4GB of memory for working on large CAD files, and multitasking in general. Gaming is most important for this PC, so I'll just stick with 2GB for the best performance.
I will probably get these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227056 .
I was going to get 4GB of memory for my new PC, but I was told it would run better in games with 2GB that only take up 2 mem slots. Is that right? Does anyone make a 2GB stick with fast timings? I'd like 4GB, even if it costs allot more.
I will mainly be gaming, and this PC is a ASUS A8N-SLI...
OK guys...you talked me into it. I'll watercool this PC...my first watercooled rig.
I figure I have a couple options now.
1. The Asus A8N-SLI Premium (or DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR, or MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI?) with an overclocked 4800+ X2...are those things stable when overclocked to...
Yeah, I really just want the fastest gaming performance for this computer, so I guess I'll cross the Dual-Core CPUs off my list and stick with the FX-57 for now. By the time games can use Dual-Core processors, this computer will probably be old anyways. I thought that AMD might soon come out...
I'm building a new PC, and only have the video cards so far...two BFG GeForce 7800 GTXs.
What is the best motherboard available right now that has SLI? I was thinking that a dual processor mobo that can run two dual-core AMDs would be cool, but I'm not familiar with everything that's out now...
Thanks for all the ideas guys. Saving money or getting a good value is not important to me though. I just want the best PC I can get, with cost not being a factor.
I am going to use it for gaming 90% of the time. You think dual Opterons would be slower than a single 64 FX when gaming? I know most games aren't multi-processor aware, but I thought that one CPU could handle the OS and background stuff, and the other CPU could be entirely used for the game.
Thanks guys! Those dual Opteron boards look awesome. I hope they are available soon. Anyone know when they are available? They look like the perfect solution. If they aren't out for a while, I will be forced to get an A8N-SLI Deluxe.
Hi guys
I am about to build a new gaming PC with a pair of nVidia video cards set up for SLI. I like the nForce4 chipset, but it is a single processor Athlon 64 FX, whereas the Tumwater can run dual Xeon Noconas.
Does anybody know what will be better for gaming? I'd like dual processors...
Hi guys. I'm getting a new laptop that I want to use for gaming.
What is the performance of a 2GHz Dothan, compared to a P4 3.2GHz or 3.4GHz Extreme Edition, and an Athlon 64 3700+? Whatever processor I go with, I will probably have 1GB of memory, Radeon Mobility 9700 128MB, 60GB 7200RPM hard...
Right now, I think I might have to get a FIRE GL X1 256MB. I am going to have my PC hooked up to my LCD monitor and Panasonic DLP TV, so I need a dual DVI card. Will this be the best performing card for gaming right now? I'd like an ATI 9800, but there isn't a dual DVI 9800 card that I know...
Hello. I have a Compaq laptop that a family member threw on the floor. It won't boot, and the screen is shattered. Is there a way to fix this, or am I just out a few grand? It's still under warranty, but I don't think this type of thing is covered. Thanks.
Yes, I am sure that the clicking is not coming from the monitor. As for printing pictures, I know that it has nothing to do with software used, type of picture, or printer drivers. It is using the XP drivers that work fine on another PC that uses the same printer, and the same pictures print...
HELLO,
A PC that I just built has monitor flicker that intensifies during HardDrive access. It also has strange crashes sometimes, like when I try to print a picture.
Also, when it starts, after the Windows XP loading screen finishes, the screen turns black for 30 seconds, and I hear one (or...
I want to buy an Athlon XP 1800 CPU for my brother's Abit KT7A. Will it work on the KT7A? I am also getting him a Ti4400, and I want a fairly good CPU to go with it. If this processor will not work what is the best one that will work?
THANKS
PS
Can I unlock the Athlon XP 1800 with a pencil...
