    $10 HD-DVD Sale, Borders.com

Link Most of their HD-DVDs seem to be on sale for $10 + shipping + tax. Choices include Heroes, Planet Earth, and many others. *Edit - these both seem to be OOS and my order for Planet Earth has been canceled.* Yes, they are HD DVDs, but they still may be of interest to those with HD-DVD...

Looking for some authortative Bio Sources

As per the title, my English TA is stubborn about something she knows nothing about (Biology). She read one book from way back when (i.e. before DNA) and now has the idea that race is an entirely social construct firmly entrenched into her mind. Now, I know that DNA differences make a black...

    Dangers of nano technology

Over the past few months, I've read several articles about the future of nanotechnology. Some of thoes articles argued that nano technology will pose huge risks to the environment as well as our collective health, while some said that the environmental and health risks were minimal. I don't...

    Is a(t) = 0 a constant acceleration?

This has been bugging me for a little while now, but I just got around to posting it. My physics teacher said that an acceleration equal to 0 was NOT a constant acceleration as the was no acceleration to speak of. I contended that given a(t) = 0 for all t that a(x) - a(y) = 0 for all x and y...

Need a program to factor large (50 digit) numbers

Looking for a simple program that will factor pretty large numbers (50 digits). As a last day joke, my math teacher threw up a string of numbers and said whoever prime factored it first got some extra credit. Needless to say, I want that extra credit. Thanks.

    Math question - odds

A friend and I were debating (read: arguing) over the following: You are given a 1/9 chance of "winning" (what is irrevelant). What are the chance that you "win" atleast 3 of the first 4 matches? My orginal logic was its (1/9)^3 in that you can win any three matches, then the fourth is...

Is the theory of Gravity really still a theory?

People constantly refer to the "Theory of Gravity." I also heard that an idea moves from "theory" to "law" when it can be fully explained by math - ie. a forumla exists that accuratly perdicts what would happen if a certain parameter is changed. So, my question is two part: 1. Is this...

    Building a bridge...sorta.

First off, I want say that this is for a school project. However, we were instructed to do outside research, and this is the best starting point I can think of for my project. 2nd off: I'm not sure this qualifies for the highly technical fourm as it is not about computers. However, it is...

    Hilbert's 3rd Problem

I've been asked to explain one of Hilbert's problems as part of my math class. Before everyone flames me, I want to say that this is NOT for a grade; its strictly enrichment and something that I want to do. I've read through this Wikipedia Link, but I still don't quite undertand what Dehn...

    Tivo question(s)

Has anyone successfuly add a 2nd HDD to a Series 2 Tivo? I'm looking into getting one, and would rather add my own hard drive for a fraction of the "offical" cost. If anyone has a link to the directions they used successfuly, I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks.
