I tried uninstalling the CPU and rebooted. Device Manager now shows two instances of the CPU in Procesessors. However, Task Manager still has only one core graph showing and PC Wizard says 2 cores w/ only one core enabled. Very strange.
I have a WinXP Pro PC running an AMD 4200+ X2 S939 CPU. I recently noticed that when running Task Manager only one core graph is showing. I ran CPUID & PC Wizard 2008 and both programs say I have only ONE core. PC Wizard says 2 cores w/ only one core enabled!
I checked Device Manager and...
Looky here...Another person who doesn't know what he's talking about. Where are you pulling this 10 million figure out of? Thin air? Your ass? No way did ANYONE believe subs would reach that # by now.
Also...Howard was not pissed off at all. That news report was completely false & anyone...
You really don't know what you're talking about...Where are you getting this info?
Howard actually explained his decision to go to SIRIUS like this: The XM management team made their pitch first...They had an attitude like, "Hey we're number 1, SIRIUS are small fry that we will crush & you'd...
"SIRI locked into a HORRIBLE deal with Stern. While they did get a bump in subs, it was not the HUGE payoff they had expected. (Not trying to start a Stern fans vs haters discussion--just simply pointing out SIRI did not get the huge number of subs everyone expected them to get when he moved...
I couldn't take the noise anymore...On my way home from work I bought a Creative Audigy SE for $30.00 at Staples. Sounds great! I will probably upgrade to an X-Fi in the future, but this sucker does the job nicely for now. I didn't feel like RMA-ing back to Geeks.
I did try plugging the headphones into the output. Noise is still there.
I was planning to eventually upgrade to a Creative soundcard. Perhaps that is the solution sooner than later.
I just installed this motherboard & am using the on-board Realtek AC'97 sound thru my 6.1 Altec Lansing spkrs. Now I am getting annoying buzzing, thumping & pulsating sounds thru all the spkrs that I can't stop. I've tried everything I can think of...Muting all inputs, checking the cables and...

Board installed w/o a hitch. I had to buy a cheap PCIe card a Staples ($69 AR) to get me up and running. The Live BIOS update thru the MSI site worked great. I've got my X800XT PE up on eBay now:

Any suggestions on vid card for $200-250?
I just received mine today. I am planning to put an FX-55 I got on Newegg for $129.
I don't have a PCIe vid card yet, but do I have an AGP X800XT PE that I plan to sell in eBay to help fund the purchase of a $200-250 unit. XT1950 Pro? XT?
It's gonna go into an Antec P180 black case that...
I purchased a 250GB SATA Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 and a generic external USB SATA enclosure. My motherboard is PATA only.
When I connect it to my PC, it detects a USB device under "Disk drives" in the Device Manager. However, the drive is not accessible in My Computer.
It appears that I...

Very nice.
I have one of these PSU's...I wouldn't recommend it for a power hungry video card. The peak 12V rails are only 18A. I damaged two BFG 6800 w/ it. I replaced it w/ a PC P&C ATV Silencer 470 w/ 24A 12V rail. It's OK for an average system, not high end.

i'm still using the stock PSU but i have a superflower 550 that i think i should put in...but i heard they are noisy so does anybody think its a bad idea to see if the x800 runs fine on...
With my first card I experienced random shutdowns, then garbled BIOS screen during startup. During games...Artifacts leading to crashes. My replacement card appeared to work OK fro a couple of weeks, then one evening after a couple of hrs of Chronicles of Riddick, my monitors started blinking...
You have to watch out w/ underpowered PSU's....I had a Cooler Master Real Power 450 that got great reviews, looked cool, cost over $100, and thought had plenty of power for my current system. However, I had to RMA two bad video cards back to BFG before I figured out that my 12V rail didn't have...

I sell all of my old PC parts on Ebay. I got $120 for my old 9800 Pro a couple of months ago.
I have a limit to how much I'll spend on a any PC component...$250 for a CPU or video card.
Very good points...I'm not in any rush to get a new video card. I just felt I couldn't pass up such a sweet deal. The MSI is very tempting....
I guess I'll wait for the ATI. Thanks.
