I'm thinking about getting an HP OfficeJet printer and I'm wondering if there are any pitfalls with HP printers. Do HP printers transmit identifiable info about you to HP whenver you print something? I think I remember reading something like that, or maybe it was for a different manurfacturer...
I had this problem once and as strange as it sounds I think the thing that was causing it was that I had a drive letter mapped to another server that was very slow to respond. If you open Windows Explorer and click on any drives mapped to other servers do any take a long time to respond?
I can understand the benefits of having a switch or a button for clearing cmos. When I first built my pc I had to clear cmos several times while doing some troubleshooting and it would have been a lot more convenient to have a switch than a jumper especially considering how difficult it is to...
If you're using Windows I think there's a setting that lets you set the time delay until the printer goes into standby or sleep mode. You can set that to a very high value.
I want to buy a new printer that will mainly be used for personal documents but sometimes for business text documents. I'd like to get an ink jet printer for the cheap color capability, but I also want it to be able to produce sharp text for business documents. Can ink jet printers produce...
My understanding is that an application or game has to be multithreaded to see a performance boost from dual core cpu's. I think most games today are designed to be single threaded.
They're about the same price but the Viewsonic supports higher resolutions. Does that mean the NEC has some other features that are better than the Viewsonic?
Why don't you use RW discs with the DVD recorder and then rip the shows to your hard drive?
Also I don't understand why you would use an entire box of DVD-R's for 5 episodes. You don't have to finalize the disc after each episode.
The only way I can see DL DVD becoming obsolete is if HD-DVD and BD discs and burners cost the same or maybe a little more than DL DVD discs and burners, and I doubt that is going to happen any time soon.
Why can't someone like Asus make an AGP card based on the 800XL's R430 chip? I thought the AGP/PCIe interface was built into the video card's other circuitry instead of the chip.
This is what I do. It's also a good way to raise money because when you exterminate the population you also plunder the city without doing any building damage. I wait until the city income gets negative before I do this since I might have to maintain the seige until they come out to fight.
If the ATA PCI card supports a faster version of ATA than the mobo then theoretically there will be an improvement in performance. For example if the card supports ATA100 while the mobo only supports ATA33 then the card should be able to transfer data faster. That's assuming the hard drives...
Do you have a good video card that you can swap in. I'm thinking the video card might have been damaged when it was running without the fan.
Also check windows device manager to make sure all of your hardware is working properly. If any device has a yellow exclamation point or red X by it...
Hi, I tried the cat-uninstaller.exe program that I downloaded from ATI's website if that's what you mean by the ATI uninstall utility. When I rebooted after using it XP loaded an ATI driver. I don't think it was a generic driver because the date of the driver was something like december 2003...
I tried that and it didn't help. I think that directory is only where the ATI installer puts it's temporary files while it's doing the install. I don't think windows looks in there for the video drivers.
It doesn't give me the option. When I reboot a little icon appears in the lower right hand corner with a message box that says something like 'VGA adapter found' and then it proceeds to load the drivers.
If I boot into safe mode after uninstalling the drivers a big message box will appear in...
I'm trying to uninstall my ATI video card drivers before I install the latest version but every time I reboot after uninstalling them Windows reloads them. I delete the driver and control panel through the Add/Remove Programs thing in windows and then run the ATI cat-uninstaller program and...
I noticed that the install file for the ATI radeon driver and control panel also includes the WDM capture drivers which I don't want since I don't have an all in wonder card. Is it possible to choose not to install the WDM drivers when running the install app?
