nobody can help me out?
i'll add some extra information.
when my drive spins up and it just hangs there and doesn't read, it keeps adding errors to the event viewer "The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period."
i'm having a weird problem with my dvd-rom drive (ASUS DVD-E616P2)
if i put in a cd or dvd without an autoplay popup like a data cd or whatever, it reads pretty much instantly and i can access stuff on the cd and whatever with no problems or lag.
but for some reason, when i put in cd/dvd's...
crap, well apparently i overlooked that the IDE controller for the HDD was in PIO mode... but it's giving me an annoying problem.
i can't switch it to DMA mode unless i uninstall the IDE controller, reboot, and let windows redetect the drivers automatically in which case it goes into UDMA...
firewall is enabled 'with' exceptions.
i installed norton anti-virus and updated it but theres nothing wrong found in the scan.
and again, yes all my software is legit.
well, i don't really have access to test the hdd on another computer... but i got some weird results with it today.
so last night i ran the seagate diagonstic tools, here's the log:
afterwords i tried running the windows error checking utility on the drive... but it didn't really do...
dang this is kinda crazy
i haven't installed any antivirus software yet and my firewall is just the windows xp sp2 firewall and my software is legit.

i'm benchmarking with HDtach right now, i'll post when it's done.
no crashes or reboots other than when i exit from a game back to the desktop.

Picture
the spikes are...
my pci slots are filled like this
agp 6600gt

i could have sworn i heard somewhere that i was supposed to put the soundcard in 1...
well im not overclocking and the temps arent bad at all. cpu and vid card idle around low the 40's high 30's and dont get a whole lot hotter when gaming.
i'm also getting this other problem i forgot to mention before. when i'm sitting on the desktop and i click random things to open up like...
what's up guys.
so i just 'built' my first computer a couple days ago, and i'm getting a couple odd problems.
