Windows file access over the internet...

You can look into WebDAV for remote file access. You would create a virtual directory under IIS, and the folder permissions of the target are inherited. The next step is allowing WebDAV to run (under IIS manager as well). If you use SSL it's a pretty secure way transferring files. EDIT...

Network a PC to Mac WITHOUT a Router?

Keep in mind, depending on the mac, you may not need a crossover cable. A lot of macs will sense the connection and flip the twisted pair to turn itself into a crossover.

It seems the 777 code is still alive which is an even greater deal ($9.24 a year). Like I said before, dreamhost is worth the retail price (anything deducted is just money in your pocket).

    DMZ question, router suggestions

I would put my laptop (the computer i use the most) into the DMZ. While keeping the desktop, and PS2 behind the firewall. In a perfect world i would want to have them all in the DMZ but i'm only assigned one IP. This is my current set-up, which works (but not reliably). I really appreciate...

    DMZ question, router suggestions

Ahhhh, that's not a problem. The school specifically states in that the use of routers is condoned. But, they don't support them.

    DMZ question, router suggestions

Yeah this is partially true. They have blocked a ton of "suspicious/problem" ports. But there still are some open ones. My biggest need is a steady internet connection, with a minimal speed loss.

    DMZ question, router suggestions

Alright...First is my question: Is it even theoretically possible to place more than one computer into a routers DMZ? I live on a college campus, so my connection already has a strong firewall. But, I am only given one IP address, so I do have to have a router in there. I bought an el cheapo...

    Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 (refurb) $99

The price is around $120 for the item shipped, it is a little heavy. As for the wiring, you would have to solder better speaker wire to a miniplug connector (you can probably get them at radio shack). This wouldn't be very hard, but the novice would want to buy the pre-made monster cables...

    Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 (refurb) $99

Just a quick note, the speaker wire provided isn't the best (22 gauge). You can either buy the specific monster cable for the 2.1s or make your own.

    Cheap Software for College Students

I am sure you are all aware of this but for those who aren't, here you go. You should check with your school and see if they participate in the Microsoft Education Enterprise Agreement software program. I just got Office XP pro and Windows XP for $15 each through UMBC. Just wanted to let you...
