    how are these fans?

yes they are loud at full speed. Loud is subjective though. It's also relative to other sounds. 44db is definitely loud though. Background noise is around 20db. It's a logarithmic scale too, so its not like 44db is 2.5 times louder, its a LOT louder.

Athlon 64 3500+ overclocking results and help

I would stick with prime fft just to test your cpu. I wouldn't mess with any other system settings that might destabilize the system. I suggest you start with a low multiplier and a safe oc of like 2.0 or 2.2 or even stick with 1.8 and just test dif htt settings to see what speeds are stabile...

    Need help with silencing pc

I've recently been on a quest to quiet my box as well. I highly recommend this site: http://www.silentpcreview.com/ It's been a great source of info for me. You could replace the fans or you could get a fan controller. Also, if you press gently on the case by the fans or on the frame of...

    NV Silencer 5

You can't really make direct comparisons between the ram on different cards unless they use the same exact chips from the same manufacturer. Even then you can get batch differences.

Can anyone recommend a good external enclosure?

I wasn't able to remove the fan, but I halted it before turning on the drive. The noise it makes was from my 5400 rmp maxtor diamondmax 80 drive. Whatever noise the slow moving fan made, it was not audible over the drive. Hope that helps.

Can anyone recommend a good external enclosure?

There's a slight hum to it, but that coud very well be from the drive. It doesn't really sound like a fan. I will see if I cna unplug the fan and if it still makes the noise.

    Ugh..Prime95 and my overclock

Hey Duvie, I have a question for you if you don't mind: How have you setup your voltage (1.57v) with the msi neo2 plat? Did you set it 1.55 + x%/ or what combination did you use? Thanks!

Athlon 64 3500+ overclocking results and help

most chips that I've seen people post on the boards are hitting around 2.6 A few people say they can get higher, and statistically speaking someone has to be able to, but I would think the mean would be around 2.6

AMD turns in $30 million loss

From a distribution stand point AMD has two problems to growing large enough to combat intel: 1> It can't produce enough to supply some major oems like Dell, but they are slowly growing larger every year till hopefully they can contract to them. 2> AMD has never had a 100% rock stabile...

    K8n neo2 Platinum Voltage Settings

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could validate the settings for the neo2 platinum's bios. It offers you vcore settings and then it offers you +% of vcore settings as two options. Does the board always calculate voltage off of the two options? So if you changed vcore to 1.5v and set +% to...

Looking for a lapping kit / general information

Oh, and I didn't use any special compounds, just the sandpaper. If you want to get your own sandpaper and do it yourself, make sure you get wet sandpaper.

Looking for a lapping kit / general information

I've purchased the $6 kit from insulglass http://easypckits.com/products/hslkwg I just followed the directions. It took me a really long time due to a learning curve of when you've sanded the item enough. Just follow the directions. Some notes: There's no such thing as using TOO much...

    Quieter Fans

the 80 12ls move less air, so it maybe a little warmer. I wouldn't say it woud be a drastic change. If you want to swap for idnetical cfm then get yourself the M1As which move 32cfm

    Quieter Fans

You can buy the same gromets or whatever you call the silicone mounting devices that are used on the silenx fan. I did, and I can say, that they are definitely worth it IF you have a fan that creates a lot of vibration noise or a case that reverberates a lot. I have an aluminum lian li and...

Can anyone recommend a good external enclosure?

I have this: http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=17-145-654&depa=0 I've been very happy with it. It's quiet and actively cooled, but it doesn't use one of those tiny square fans that sieze after a month.

    Quieter Fans

I have the panaflos and the stealths. The stealths make a definite whining noise at full power. The panaflos are definitely quieter. The stealths move a little more air at full power, but not much more. It feels the same on my hand. At the same noise level as the panaflos, the stealths...

    PSU Recommendation

I have an enermax 495ax. I recommend it over the older 475. It offers 18a max on both rails, where as the older model offered only 15 on the non mb rail. Considering how much juice some video cards eat these days, coupled with your other drives and fans, it's nice to have that extra overhead.

    Quieter Fans

I have two of the 80mm stealths and two enermax thermal controlled for my exhast. I have a lian li pc60 with a fan speed control. I thought the stealths were quiet, but they are actually the loudest fans in my case (louder than the thermaltake silent boosts' fan and louder than the two enermax...
