I need to rma this card, but it's got an Arctic Cooler on it, so I need to re-install the original heatsink/fan. The problem is that I can't locate the two original fasteners that secured the heatsink to the card. If you have this card, would you please let me know what type of fastener is stock...
Ok here's a wierd one. I spent all day on this yesterday and still have no internet. Here's the system:
A64 3200+ @ 2.5GHz
1GB Crucial PC3200 DDR @ 225MHz
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
eVGA 6800GT
Maxtor ATA133 IDE 200GB 8MB
Belkin Pre-N router
Comcast Cable internet
Here's the story:
Got...
It sounds like you're saying a SATAII drive will be compatible with my mobo in that it will work in SATAI mode, while I was asking if it will work in SATAII mode (SATA/300). Of course, it depends on the specific model hard drive - I'm looking at a Maxtor Diamondmax10 . Did I misunderstand you?
I'm looking at a new hard drive, and I want to buy SATA. My motherboard is an MSI K8N Neo Platinum, which supports:
On-Board IDE/SATA
? An IDE controller on the nVIDIA nForce3 250Gb chipset provides IDE HDD/CD-ROM with PIO, Bus Master and Ultra DMA133/100/66 operation modes.
- Can connect...
I am having trouble with BF2, specifically map loading times have increased dramatically. I've done all of the normal system maintenance and optimization that you would normally do, including defragging all driver, running av & spyware detection, minimizing memory resident programs in startup...
I'm currently using Cat 5.6. Haven't upgraded drivers as new drivers don't offer anything for these older cards. My video performance seems poor lately, so I thought I'd try to find out if there's a better/older driver for this card. Thanks.
I have an MSI 9800XT that Ive been using Omega 2.5.9.7 drivers on. When I read the list of changes for new drivers, it's always geared to next gen cards. Should I update anyway, or stay where I am?
Also, with my current driver there are no tabs or boxes for AA & AF control. Is this the way...
Still frustrated. I took everything out again, except the cpu, and video card. As expected i got a steady beep, (no memory beep). So I put one stick of the memory back in and got nothing. I tired all three sticks individually in all three dimm slots and still got nothing.
At this point I've...
A few weeks ago, I had one of my pc's powered w/o a surge protector, and sure enough got a power surge. Since then I've got no video, and no motherboard beeps (signifying dead motherboard). I get power through the motherboard as all the fans and the hard drives spin. System specs:
Abit...
Last night I struck out with both the 4.8's and 4.9 betas. 4.8's gave me horrible artifacting in Doom3 timedemo demo1 and 3DMark03 bombed at Trolls' Lair, whereas with the 4.7's this was never a problem. When I tried the 4.9 betas, I got blue screen of death . I used Driver Cleaner in safe mode...
I have a 128MB MSI ATI RX9800 Pro that shows up in Riva Tuner as a 9800XT with an R360 core, but Sandra says it's a 9800XT with an R350 core.
How do I know for sure which it is?
Question: I bought an MSI ATI RX9800Pro 256bit 128MB card last week. After installing the 4.7 Cat drivers, it now shows up in my system as an XT. Did installing the 4.7 drivers have the same effect on my card as flashing to an XT bios would?
cool, thanks for the link. one thing i've read about mem benches for this setup is that the TRas provides the best bandwidth between 9 and 11 clocks, usually 10. Setting your cycle time at 5 clocks might be stunting your bandwidth a bit.
Ok I now have a much better understanding of how to overclock this cpu. Here is a preliminary result from last night, not stress tested but Windows was stable:
CPU-Z CPU@2.5GHz
CPU-Z Memory settings
Cool 'n Quiet
tRTC caused reboot when set at 2. Also, with tRTC set at 3 I can get to desktop...
Well so far my attempts to overclock have been met by failure. It seems that I can change almost nothing in the cell portion of the bios w/o having instability/crashes. I can enable cool & quiet, and I can set the memory timing to auto. Other than that, no go. If I try to change the cpu fsb...
well i don't see a PCI/AGP bus lock in the bios anywhere, and unless i'm just not familiar with the terminology (which is entirely possible) i don't see HTT anywhere either. but i do see where i can adjust the cpu and mem fsb in 1MHz increments. is that what you're referring to?
i'll mess with...
So I bought this setup and it certainly rocks @ 2.2GHz, but I'm curious as to what it can really do. Part of my confusion/ignorance stems from the fact that I'm coming off of an Abit KT7A motherboard, so my knowledge of overclocking a cpu is limited to adjusting either the FSB or the multiplier...
Figured it out. I deducted that the problem was D3D related, so I checked the D3D settings. For some reason I had Smartshader set to "Classic". Changed back to none and i'm good to go.
I have a brand new build that looks like this:
A64 3200+ Retail
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
Crucial PC3200DDR 1GB
Maxtor 200GB ATA133 7200rpmm 8MB
MSI RX9800Pro 4.6 Cat
When I run either of the 3DMark (01SE oe 03) benching programs, they both run with a reddish/orange hue, no other colors show up...
The lan is connected with a standard cable from my cable modem to the back of the box. I checked the bios to make sure the lan was enabled. Haven't tried ipconfig, I'll try that tonight when I get home.
I put my new rig together last night and have a few questions. Here's the system specs since the site won't let me add the stats to my computers:
A64 3200+ Retail
MSI K8N Neo Platinum nForce3 250 Chipset
Crucial PC3200 DDR 1GB
Maxtor 200GB ATA133 7200rpm 8MB
MSI RX9800Pro
Windows XP PRO SP1...
Well as far as the Maxtor goes, I wouldn't say I'm a "fanboy" but my personal experience has steered me away from WD, along with IBM. My current Maxtor is over a year old with zero trouble and good, solid, reliable performance.
As for the video card, I see the 9800Pro as the biggest bang for...
Hello all. I'm going to build a new gaming box soon and need help selecting a few things. My budget is $1500 or so, and my approach is that this will be a system that let's me play new games (see sig for current system) but is only to hold me over for a year or so until the pci-x based systems...
I want to build a new gaming rig that I will be happy with for a long time. The last box that I built was based on an Abit KT7A-Raid rev1.1 motherboard (bought it when it first came out), so that tells you how often I build new boxes.
Anyway, I have two questions:
1) What is going to happen to...
Well after doing a bit of reading I've decided to go w/o the fan and go with a silent solution. I originally switched from teh stock heatsink thinking I needed to, but I think now that a good heatsink and good air flow in my case should be sufficient. I'll be going with the Zalman.
p.s. I had...
