Are there any guides for a beginner overclocker for the 2500?
I have a 2500+ on an Asus A7N8X mobo. Last night, I tried setting the FSB from 166 to 175 and it won't even get past post. Did some more reading this morning and am going to try raising the voltage up to 1.7 or 1.75 and try...
I tried to overclock my cpu when I first got it a year or so ago, and got frustrated and put it back to default and haven't messed with it since. At the time, I had the stock heatsink/fan and a cheapo PowerMagic 450W PS that came with my case. I've since upgraded to a copper/aluminum...
I currently have an AMD 2500+ Barton with an Asus A7N8X MB (AGP only) and a Radeon 9600 video card. I have about $300 to spend.
At first, I was thinking of getting an nVidia 6800 Video Card, but then got to wondering if then my CPU would be holding me back. Then I thought about upgrading to...

I have a car that can do 0-60 in sub 5 seconds. I use that legally (drag strip 12.3 1/4).
I have a SUV that has 4 WD and I take that off road.

Or talk to the DA and see if you can work out a plea bargain. For instance, agree to plead guilty to a lesser non moving violation and take traffic school. You will still have to pay a fine, but won't be as much and no points on your license.
I got a memory error after trying to OC my 2500+ when i rebooted, it would not boot up. I had to reset the CMOS and go back into the BIOS and set everything back up.
I just got my A7N8X mobo refurb from newegg I installed everything and the computer booted up fine 2 or 3 times then when I rebooted, it would not respond to the power switch. I opened the case back up and the red LED (invalid AGP card) was on. My video card is a 64mb ATI RAdeon 7000 4x AGP...
Yeah, it came. It was just the mobo. :( I called the RMA dept @ asus and ordered teh accessory pack for $15 + $5 shipping. She said it would go out tomorrow and be shipped ups ground. From what I could tell at looking through the online manual, you need the accessory pack to use the firewire...
Yeah, I just realized that and came to post my findings, but you beat me to it. :P The item number is 13-131-436R which comes up on newegg as the refurb and 13-131-436 comes up as the new one. :brokenheart:
Here's the description for the new MB:
Asus Motherboard for AMD Athlon XP/Duron Processors, Model# A7N8X Deluxe Retail
And here's what was in my order detail.
MB NFORCE2 A7N8X DELUXE ASUS RTL
Mine is due to be delivered today, so I'll let you know when I get it.
It could be. I ordered mine tuesday and just looked at my detail in detail and mine says RTL too. I also ordered the retail Barton 2500 chip and it says RTL too. Maybe we lucked out.
