How often do you have nightmares?

Nightmares? What are those? Are they similar to dreams? Don't have those either. Actually, I'm pretty serious. I can't remember a single dream in .... years? Seriously :( No good dreams, bad dreams, wet dreams, nothing. I guess my life sucks even when I am asleep.

I got a new kitty. Do I really need to spend money on shots?

For cats and dogs, I would say yes. Especially if the animal is ever going to go outside. For other animals, I think it is a rip-off. I had a ferret, for example, that got his shots when I first bought him. They recommend getting new shots every year. He lived to be the ripe old age of 8...

Contact lenses - arg!!! so difficult to put them in!

I gave up. I started wearing contacts back in high school, then developed a nasty eye infection from them (extended wear) one Valentines holiday and couldn't even open my eye if the lights were on. The doctor said I had a really bad infection and if I had waited another day to come in I could...

I keep trying to get my wife to wear thongs. She is a size 16 and says she is too fat. I still think she would look great

    Employee tardiness problem........

I'm on the side of "10 minutes...big deal" I work for a healthcare company. When I originally got hired my hours were 8:00 to 4:30. I'm not a morning person and always had problems getting there on time. Not only that, but I never got to leave at 4:30. So I talked to my boss and she...

    Netflix versus Blockbuster

Hmm, never had that problem. They always send me what is at the top of my queue. I guess I'm not a big foreign/independent film watcher. I've never had a problem with Blockbuster not carrying a title that I want to watch. I never thought I would make use of the "instore rental" options...

    Netflix versus Blockbuster

Just curious here. For those that use Netflix, why? I've been a customer of Blockbuster's for several years now and have never had any major issues other than an occasional unreadable/scratched/cracked DVD. With their recent addition of being able to return the movies to a local store to...

Illegal Immigration Issue: Securing our borders

Obviously, we aren't in the 19th or early 20th century anymore. Times change. In the 1800's you didn't have easy access to the Internet, language classes on CDs, DVDs, or in easy to acquire books. Well, the US history and English would be part of the citizenship process (similar to what it...

Illegal Immigration Issue: Securing our borders

I'm not about to read all the previous posts since most of them are going to be the typical "you don't know crap, so go away". Instead, I will give my opinion as somone who lives in Houston. Personally, I think that we should tighten up our borders to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into...

    Question for Raptor owners

I had a 36GB Raptor and while the boot times were faster (by about 5 seconds) on my Athlon 3200+, I couldn't justify keeping it. I ended up selling it recently and just installing a Seagate 160GB SATA drive on the system. It's no like the system gets shut down very often (I run my systems 24/7...

    installing ram on laptops

My experience has only been with Dell and Sony laptops, but it has been very easy. Usually there is a cover on the bottom of the laptops that you have to remove a screw or two from to get access to the memory slots. Of course, this was on older P3 machines, but I would assume the newer laptops...

    Kids playing in the street

And what part of my later post did you not understand that there is a park for that sort of thing? Heck, if the kids can roam around the neighborhood unattended, then they can go to the park and play catch/football/etc. Our neighborhood is a whopping 5 blocks by 4 blocks out in the middle of...

    Kids playing in the street

"Do you live in the ghetto? If so, suck it up. Drugs and gang violence is a part of ghetto life." Doesn't sound right does it? Just because something goes on in an environment doesn't mean that it is right and should be tolerated.

    Kids playing in the street

No, I never played stickball in the street. We also didn't play tag/baseball/etc. in the street either. I grew up in the country and had plenty of area to run around on our creek, in the pastures, etc. We rode our bikes in the road, but were taught to pull over, stop, and let the cars pass...

    Kids playing in the street

OK, I have to get this off my chest. There is a family about 5 houses down my street that lets their kids do everything in the street (playing catch, skateboarding, drawing with chalk, etc.) while they are hanging out in the house. This morning, while driving back to my house, I was just...

    Windows Server licenses

OK, I'm so confused with this and no one that I talk to in our company seems to have the same answer. I work in the IT department of a hospital owned by a larger corporation. Our company has a deal with Microsoft that we pay an annual fee for basically free upgrades to the OS on the systems...

    DVD Drive Question

Will a standard DVD-ROM drive read Dual-Layer DVD disks? What about a single-layer DVD-RW drive? I need to buy a couple new drives for my systems. I need to replace the CD-RW with a DVD-RW drive on my server, add a DVD-RW drive to my desktop, and add a second drive (probably just a DVD-ROM)...

MSI K8N Neo - USB problems

OK, hopefully this is the last question. I have my K8N NEO working now (thanks to the BIOS recovery and figuring out that the system wanted a PCI video card to accomplish that). Now my only problem at the moment is the internal USB port connections on the motherboard. The USB ports on the...

    Nforce3 motherboard IDE problems

I have a MSI K8N NEO that I finally got up and running, but I'm having problems with the IDE now. With a single hard drive in the system it seems to run fine. As soon as I add a second hard drive, it seems to work for a few minutes and then Explorer maxes the CPU usage out at 100%. I tried...

Messed up BIOS - any luck???

Woohooo :) Apparently, the system didn't want to boot with a AGP card  I pulled the AGP card out and put in a PCI card, and it booted to the floppy so I could recover the BIOS. Then I just had to pull the PCI card out and put the AGP card back in and it appears to be up and working.

Messed up BIOS - any luck???

I've got a recovery disk, plus another boot disk with an older BIOS on it. The problem is that it never tries to read from the floppy drive :( Everything seems to power up, but no floppy drive access and no video on the screen.

Messed up BIOS - any luck???

Any other advice? I've got around $500 that I can work with, but part of that money was going to a HTPC case and 300 GB SATA drive for my HTPC system, so really that will leave me with around $200. $100 for the motherboard and $100 for the video (plus whatever I can get if I sell off my Radeon...

    bios message

Silly question, but are you using a 80-pin (ATA100) IDE cable or a 40-pin? The system may expect you to use a 80-pin cable no matter what type of device you have connected to it.

Messed up BIOS - any luck???

:( Well, before I go and spend $30 on a new bios, I'll just go out and buy a new board. I've had nothing but trouble with this MSI anyways. I might have well gone with an ECS for all the effort I have put into it (3 RMA's). Now I just have to decide if I want to keep the processor and...

Messed up BIOS - any luck???

OK, I received a RMA for my MSI K8N NEO FSR (MS7030-20) motherboard. Everything finally looked like was working good and everything booted up to Windows. Then their Live Update software said there was an updated BIOS, so I downloaded it, created the backup disks as recommended and ran the . I...

    MSI K8N Neo

    20% at REI-Outlet

It's a high-end camping/hiking/backpacking/outdoor store. The sell a lot of the better equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc.) that you can't get at other "sports equipment" stores because they cost a lot more than the average person would want to pay.

Did I get Dell to do the right thing here?

Do you tip when doing take out?

I don't. First, who would be getting the tip? The waiter preparing your food? That's the person doing all the work, but the one that would recieve it is the person that handed you the bag and took your money. That's all they did. In truth, I'm not that big of a tipper. I only tip when...

    HTPC problems - need help

Well, it is looking more like a defective card. I am working with XGI and they are starting to think that the Cipher video processor is defective. I have already talked to Triocomptuers/TrioInternational in NY and strongly advise everyone stay away from them. Their 15 day warranty is silly...

    HTPC problems - need help

Well, I removed the Nvidia codecs from the system and still get blurry playback. rbV5 brings up a good point about the onboard video processor. I will have to dig a little on XGI's website about enabling or disabling that portion of the card.

Well, I have tried the PowerDVD codecs with the same result. I can try uninstalling the NVidia codecs and see what happens. In Sage I have tried using the SageTV decoder also, but still get lots of blurring (and the picture isn't as clean). Like I have said in the other thread, the DVD...

    HTPC problems - need help

OK, my plan wasn't to use the post processing codec, it was just a trial to compare it to the Nvidia Video Decoder. As to just playing the files in WMP10, I still need to install a codec to play the MPEG2 files right? I thought that Windows doesn't support MPEG2 playback natively without...
