Is the e8500 compatible with my Gigabyte 965p-s3?

That looks pretty reasonable, but I'm worried that my memory might also be outdated. That motherboard says it supports "Memory Standard: DDR2 1200(OC)/1066/800". Does that mean my DDR2 667 won't work on that board? Seems like most mobos now only support DDR2 1200/1066 judging by the popular...

Is the e8500 compatible with my Gigabyte 965p-s3?

Nvm I found it, it's rev 1.0 Any recommendations on a stable and future-proof motherboard that would be compatible with a 1333 MHz FSB? Cheaper is obviously better, plus I don't plan on doing any overclocking

Is the e8500 compatible with my Gigabyte 965p-s3?

According to this website, the 965p-s3 is compatible with core 2 duo. But this website says that the board is compatible with processors only up to a 1066 MHz FSB, whereas the e8500 has a 1333 MHz FSB. I can't get my computer to post with the e8500, but it posts fine with my older pentium d 955...

what's the problem: new psu or old mobo

A couple of days ago my computer started emitting unpleasant smells, and soon after smoke was pouring from the back of the power supply. Needless to say, I turned off the computer asap. Then I unplugged everything, tossed the old psu, and got an antec trio 430watt (my old psu was a zalman...

    screeching sound on start-up

It's not my headphones because the same thing happens with another pair. I found on the reviews at newegg that this is a frequent problem, but one reviewer claimed that updating to the newest drivers fixed it. DLing now. edit: typo

    screeching sound on start-up

Sometimes, when I start my computer I hear a loud "screeching" sound coming from my headphones. I can't find a way to turn it off, and it won't cease until I restart it. Even then, it can take a couple restarts. My headphones are ath-a500's and my sound card is a chaintech a710. ty

    A8JS or TM8210

Yeah, that's kind of how I feel after searching through endless laptops. But the 8210 seems to be a 15inch version of it, and I'm wondering if there's anyone here who has them or can talk about general build quality and customer support for the two companies side by side. Still wondering...

    A8JS or TM8210

Thanks for the response. What is pixel doubling? I will be using this laptop for gaming primarily and also some schoolwork, but no work that couldn't be done on a regular office computer. I've searched pretty extensively, but if there are any older, more used laptops that people can recommend...

    A8JS or TM8210

TM8210 or A8JS I've narrowed my search down to these two laptops. Both laptops use C2D, have the capacity for 2gb ram (the a8js can be upgraded for $100 or so), have powerful GPUs, and use WXGA+ or WSXGA+. The A8JS appeals to me because it's small and because it's built by ASUS, who I've...

I've already reinstalled the memory and video card multiple times. The computer keeps beeping the same, long, beep until I turn it off (I let it beep 20 times then shut it down). I don't see this type of beep anywhere in that BIOS Beep Codes website. I tried using a different set of memory...
