Ok downloaded Boinc a couple of days ago and joined the SETI team again as well as Rosetta @ home. Couldnt get any work for Rosetta (said not enough space) so I changed my preferences on the Rosetta site to 1 gig of space for Rosetta. I loaded Boinc up today and now see the message "Activities...
I felt it and it was a bit scary. Was playing in a MMORG and people were saying "California residents did you feel that quake?"
Yeah I suppose I am a geek.
I was thinking about it over the last couple of days and it might be better if we had some sort of base off the earth looking for Seti signals. With all the radio, cell phone and other transmissions all over the earth, it might be a better way for a "distraction" free listening for signals.
MY Sql is pretty decent but has not had stored procedures and some other things that have made it a poor choise in our company. (We use MSSQL because of it)
This is what got me...
Looking at this, the biggest power saver is the monitor and not the computer. If he turns off the monitor, he would reduce his power consumption more than if he turned off the computer.
One thing about this: the guy did not list what he had in his computer. He...
Basically something would have to be installed or running on the machine for this to work. It seems like it might be a local machine problem, but you shouldnt worry about it too much. The person would have to have access to the machine to get it to work.

Would be nice for a DC project? :)
Meant to quote it and not code it... now I cant get rid of the code part of it.

Our Cogent link has been down since around 9:00am PST (16:00 UTC). Data servers are currently unreachable. The problem is currently being diagnosed.
I still have an old IBM 300 GL (300 mghz) that ran Seti for a long time. I have recently retired it due to power costs in my house, but it ran like champ for a long long time.
Isnt this science so that we can launch some sort of preemptive strike against an object? It would be nice to know far enough in advance so that we might be able to do something and save earth.
The departed member was one of my machines. I did not know that you had to have all the same nicknames. (Thought it was grouped by email address) I probably will bring my machines to FAD after Seti. At the most I will be leaving only one for Boinc and other projects.
Actually Gerrittest is one of my machines. I must of messed something up in the install. I used the same email address so I thought it would be on the same account. I will have to see.....
We are gonna have to "kick it up a notch" and kick BBR's butt. You never know if they have a user who is going to try and join at the last moment with a bunch of WU's...
Bah... finally crunching for Migroo. The machine I had set up seti on for him had the proxy set to No (in Seti Hide)and was not recieving or sending results. His numbers should go up by 10 a day or so...
This is really starting to sound like a cut cable or something. I wonder if the connection was killed by construction or something... Router problems would be easy to fix and would be fixed in a day or two.
Doing a tracert to the first IP listed on that website Smoke listed:
traceroute...
Thanks. Will try that version. Looks like the 2 WU's I picked up first are going to go through pretty fast. Ill see what my output is after the weekend.
Anyone have a link to the 3.03 command line client for Windows? I have been using the 3.08 client on a Intel P4 3.6 Ghz server and am getting about 19-21 units a day. Just wanted to try it with the older version to compare.
Based on this I dont think you can do it. As I remember Windows builds its install on how many processors you have in the system. You can have less, but not more than the original install. Its been a while since I have switched out a board without a format though.
