    K8M890/K8N890? Pleeaase ship soon!

I'm dying for a mobo with integrated graphics and 2 or 3 pci-e x1 slots! Sick of my gigabit card in my old KT133 (ASUS A7V, classic) topping out at around 500mbps, 20mbyte/sec in samba! Anyone have a good estimate of when these boards will actually be available?

    4X PCI-E slot?

Some nforce4 mobos have a 4x pci-e slot, what are these good for? gigabit ethernet only requires 1x, and video cards are 16x. Is there going to be a 4 way splitter for this slot or something? Edit: will 1x cards even fit in this 4x slot?

    removing fan grills (from cases)

Do nibbler tools work for this? They need to have a hole already there to work, right? are the holes in fan grills on cases usually big enough to let the nibbler cut it? Anyone know the cheapest place to get a nibbler?

    TMD voltage control?

Is there anything wrong with using a fan speed controller with a TMD fan? I seem to remember some people saying that it messes them up. I am getting a Zalman Fanmate 1 to go with a TMD fan on my heatsink, so I can turn down the voltage so it'll be quieter...

    875/865PE 800fsb + ddr333 vs. 800fsb + ddr400

Anyone know the performance difference between ddr 333 and ddr 400 with a P4C (800MHz fsb)? Is there any advantage to having the 800FSB proc with DDR 333, vs. the 533fsb proc?

    *UNOFFICIAL* Heatsink/Mobo Compatibility List

This thread is for posting which heatsinks you have successfully used with which mobos. I'll add my heatsink/mobo first, even though its not a very interesting combo :D Hopefully we can build a useful list here, especially for the big heatsinks which tend to have the most conflicts. Right now...

Heat output: Duron 1300 or Tbird 1.1

Can someone help me compare the thermal dissipation of the duron 1.3ghz and tbird 1.1ghz (200FSB)? I looked at AMD's tech docs but they dont list the 200FSB 1.1Ghz processor. Right now I run a 800mhz tbird (200fsb). I am using a GC68 with one of those 18CFM NMB fans. The thermal probe on my...

    Passive cooling a 2.8ghz p4?

Some of you guys have probably seen this article.. Anyone else skeptical of this heatsink passively cooling a 2.8ghz p4? I've seen reviews of it, and even with the fan bracket installed, it doesn't do very well.

    Too hot?

I bought 2 18CFM NMB fans and put 1 in my PSU and 1 as a case exhaust. My ASUS A7V (KT133) with 800MHz tbird shows MB temp of 39 celcius, and a temp probe in the PSU shows the air is 48 celcius. These are load (prime95) figures.. too hot, or OK?

    Black Antec Cases?!

Amazon is selling what they describe to be a black SLK2600 case.. if you look at the pictures, 1 is the normal bronze and 1 is black. I see a reviewer got the bronze one. Where is amazon getting that black case picture?? I really want a black SLK3700.

    LED Caselight

I've seen some threads here regarding wiring LEDs, and thought I'd post a link to a great site on the subject (and great site in general). Dan's Data The one problem with the site is.. its a b*tch to find old articles that aren't listed on the main page anymore. Dan is not a great webmaster...

    Quiet PSU

I've been looking for a truly quiet PSU. One obvious way to get good airflow with quiet fans is to use larger fans. Behold: 120mm fan PSU goodness Its inexpensive, quality (Tomshardware.com recommended a Fortron PSU in its 21 PSU roundup article, here), and has a none-too-shabby 3.3V + 5V...

    Fan mod?

Has anyone done an exhaust-fan mod (not a blowhole) to support a 120mm fan? Is the "nibbler" tool sufficient? I'm hoping this is possible on a Lanboy, or some other aluminum, non-acrylic-front case. Any success?
