BFG 6800 Ultra OC booting problem

I've tried it on another system now... Sitting at a friends house. Works perfectly. Runs Doom 3 Max res, max AA/AF, max details (high) smoothly. I managed to corrupt my BIOS while flashing and have to order a new one from the Netherlands (EPoX).. boring situation. But at least I know the...

BFG 6800 Ultra OC booting problem

Yes, I did several times =/ Trying to flash my BIOS now for hopes of better luck afterwards. Btw: The card is so immensely huge that the cooling fan/block blocks the AGP-port's little white "switch" at the end :D I have to use my little-finger to press it open, and man...that's heavy. Gotta...

Nightmare installing new BFG 6800 GT OC

I'm gonna try to update my BIOS. Haven't done that for half a year.. (and the BIOS version then might have been older than the 6800-card :|) So that's my best bet so far. It's a work in progress.

BFG 6800 Ultra OC booting problem

Reseat? You mean like putting it back in? I've done that at least 4 times in the process, while I tried all the other things (Change FSB clock, AGP voltage etc).. I'll definitely try som more though. Gotta get it working!

Nightmare installing new BFG 6800 GT OC

But he didn't get the extreme high pitched beeping sound? And if the problem was PSU-related, why shouldn't my 520W Aspire PSU work? It's not like it's "noname" or a cheap brand. And the max amps should be high enough, I guess. Hmpfh.. :/ Edit: btw, my older video card is also a GF 4 Ti...

BFG 6800 Ultra OC booting problem

I originally posted this in another thread, but I see my problem differs a bit from the other one, so here comes a new thread. Paste: There are no problems with the card not fitting or damaged components. CPU/RAM is not clocked and I've tried to increase/decrease AGP voltage. When I press...

Nightmare installing new BFG 6800 GT OC

I have the exact (?) same problem with my BFG 6800 Ultra OC. There are no problems with the card not fitting or damaged components. CPU/RAM is not clocked and I've tried to increase/decrease AGP voltage. When I press the power button, there is a constant high pitch beep which doesn't stop until...

Just ordered myself a BFG 6800 Ultra OC

NOK->USD is really, really low nowadays. 1$ is 6,4kr. $590 * 6,4 = 3795,- (estimated). (Edit: The cheapest X800XT is 3995,- NOK for comparison) I guess I would get it for like $100 in India, but Norway is the wealthiest country in the world per citizen, and therefore I guess the prices...

Just ordered myself a BFG 6800 Ultra OC

Don't spank him for this. I edited the original message and added the AGP-part after he wrote his first post ;) And thanks! Can't wait. I'll have it here on friday (2 days)

Just ordered myself a BFG 6800 Ultra OC

I hope I'll agree with you after having tested the card. One thing is bothering me though.. I don't have any LCD displays yet, and still I bough a video card with dual DVI. Will using a VGA-DVI adapter cause any performance or image quality loss?

    BFG 6800 OC Performance

53C idle is not hot for a graphics card core. GPU's are known to handle thermals better than CPU's. 53C in a CPU core is starting to get hot. With a video card, I would start getting worried at 80-90C load. My $0.02 ;)

Seriously, why the hell are video cards even being equipped with a VGA connector?

I ordered a BFG 6800 Ultra OC (see own thread in video forum) today, and it has Dual DVI. It also comes with a AGP<->DVI adapter. I find it comforting to have dual DVI just in case I get the opportunity to run dual LCD displays some day. I just hope using an adapter won't cause any problems? I...

Just ordered myself a BFG 6800 Ultra OC

$590 without shipping. I hope it'll be worth it :) I'll edit my first post with reasons to why I chose this card rather than the X800XT which I had first had planned buying.

Just ordered myself a BFG 6800 Ultra OC

http://www.bfgtech.com/6800.html :D Cost me about $600 (w/shipping). Hope my 520W Aspire PSU will suffice.. (I guess, with 37 Amps on the +12V) Edit: For several weeks, my plan was to order the Sapphire X800 XT. 6800 Ultra was my alternative all along, but it was like $70 more. Two days...

    Would you trade a 6800 Ultra for a X850 XTPE ?

I bet 2x6800Ultra perform better than one X800XT, but I can say for sure that 2x6800Ultra costs more than twice as much. So is it worth the money? No, only if you're the kind of person who wipe your ass with $1000 bills. Rollo: Where did you get the number $300 million? I would like to see...

My sprinter cell 3 demo screenshots

Looks like a fairytale-book. ...and that's a compliment. It's so hard to know what part of the graphics are done by HDR/Shaders. As you know, I'm in a deep conflict between X800XT/6800Ultra

    Far Cry Question

Yup... It all comes down to finding the balance. I'll have to do some serious meditating about this. I've had my mind set om X800XT for weeks, but I'm turning more and more against the 6800 series after all this talk about HDR and Shaders, and especially after seeing you screenshots of FarCry...

    Far Cry Question

Thanks, but do you think (in this case) FarCry's developers will enhance the HDR-feature, so that the lower-performing 6800-cards today will perform better in the future? I can't seem to make up my mind. Will I go for X800XT, 6800GT or 6800Ultra? the BFG 6800Ultra OC costs under $1 more than the...

Damn, can't believe I just ordered two EVGA 6800 GT PCI-E

Congratulations. You'll get some mighty heavy synthetic benchmark results :) And in the future, very nice ingame FPS as well.

    Far Cry Question

40fps and up is minimum for me in games like HL2. So I'm wondering, what's the point in buying the o-fabolous 6800GT/Ultra because of it's "super" features, when it isn't fast enough to run them at a good fps? Is this only a problem since todays game don't take advantage of those features in a...

I've determined one sole reason why I don't want to use FireFox

If it's the ad-bar in the top right corner you're thinking about, you'll forget it's there after 15 minutes of use. Opera really gives you bang for... nothing! (I've learned a new phrase today.. Bang-for-buck)

I've determined one sole reason why I don't want to use FireFox

In Opera, you just go Tools->Delete Private Data, and you get a huge menu of private data types to delete :D Examples: "Entire Cache", "Temporary Cookies", "All Cookies", "History of visited pages", "History of typed in pages", "Clear all Wand passwords", "Clear all e-mail account passwords"...

I've determined one sole reason why I don't want to use FireFox

Try Opera. Visit www.opera.com. I've used both IE, FF, Mozilla, Netscape and Opera... And my absolute favorite is Opera. It's got pretty much everything. And it's fast. Technically proven... They actually ran benchmarks for browsers (yup, lame) and Opera was on top of all the larger browser in...

Link to benchmark for all cards

RussianSensation: Ok, but in my case the X800XT PE would be the best since I don't have PCIe compatability yet. Wish I had though... So typical of me to do a major hardware upgrade just a couple of months before the PCIe standard became really popular. So now I'm stuck with AGPf or the next years

Link to benchmark for all cards

You will never find benchmarks of all existing VGA cards running the same test system. And since the benchmark results are very dependant on the "testbed", it wouldn't be very lucrative to compare random benchmarks found on the net. This is the largest one I have seen yet...

    6800 vrs x800

I've decided not to buy from other countries than my own of simple reasons... In case something happens and I want to use the warranty, it'll be a hell of a mess to send products here and there all over the globe. I might as well throw the $600 down the toilet. The BFG card I mention above, it's...

    Best video card for hl2

Buy the X800Pro VIVO and mod/clock it to X800XT PE level, which no other cards come close to in HL2 performance.

    6800 vrs x800

if I get no really good arguments on why to buy 6800GT (clocking to Ultra in that case) I'm gonna end on a Sapphire X800 XT clocking past PE. In that case, I hope 3Dc will become more used in future games.

    Is 68dB Really Loud?

120x120mm Papst fans with 74, 9x or 1xx CFM are a really good buy, I would guess. The 74CFM one makes about 18dB which is quite silent. 120x120mm is huge, though. Using that dimension for a CPU-fan is a space-eater deluxe. A Gainward 6800GT/Ultra card at the same time is an impossibility, I...

    Is 68dB Really Loud?

That sure is one sick fan. It's probably a lot more efficient than watercooling. but remember, when you divide the rpm and noise by two.. you also divide the efficiency/CFM by two. But still worth it I guess :) Good luck.

    AMD Chip question

I think of AMD and Intel this way: Imagine a tunnel very short and very wide. This is AMD. Then imagine another tunnel very long and very thin. This is Intel. The data packages going through are cars, and Intel's cars move a hell'uv'alot faster, but can only go through one at a time... in a...

the brain - too complex to understand?

One smart persons brain could probably understand the lesser-smart persons brain, since it's not the same. Or could it? I honestly think humanity is better off not understanding all things. It's not "meant to be".

    Is 68dB Really Loud?

That fan is probably meant for people who really need the extreme cooling, and then lock it into a soundproof closet. Like huge, busy servers in a company. 60-70dB is really loud. A jetfighter taking off from a runway is like 140dB... yes, I know dB is algorithmic, but still :P Isn't it true...

    6800 vrs x800

Acanthus: Don't start offending me ;) I know very well that clockspeed isn't everything. I was mainly referring to the benchmarks where it seems obvious that the X800XT gets higher fps than most other card in most games. I run a AMD 64 S754 with 2.2GHz (3000+) and know very well that is performs...
