PS for an FX-55 6800 ultra x2 system

I've seen big arguments over dual rail power supplies. Not sure if that is the way to go or not. This, not out yet, OCZ PowerStream 600W http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-104-153&depa=1 has more amps on one of the rails. Falcon and others use the 2 rail enermax...

Sell it? I had to disconnect that computer, Anus probe started warning of low voltage on the 12v rail. It was in the low 10v range. Even if anus probe is off a little, that PS is shot I'm betting.

    enermax noise taker

With my system I am concerned about 2 rail power supplies. I have one HD and plan to add another, and 2 dvd players/burners. I see falcon systems use the 2 rail enermax 600W. Lots of people here recomend the OCZ 520 The 600w OCZ is 2 rail with 20amp on one 12v but it's not out yet and I...

With my rig, and what I've read on the Ultra-X connect, I would replace the PS with a better brand. Any suggestions on what PS I should get would be helpful. I'm nervous. I don't want to fry my rig.

    Rookie Builder Looking for Feedback

SLI is going to change. You won't be future proof with the current SLI. However, it does give you some future options and I would go with the SLI mother board. Look at ATI's future SLI solution and you'll see why it will change. I think it will be some time before SLI get hashed out into a...

    Building New System

AMD is leading in just about everything now. Also Intel's price per performance is way to high. Right now AMD is the way to go. Look at intel's 570J compared to the amd's 3500. The 3500 beats the new intel processors and cost hundreds less. I would look at some AMD processors around the...

    Buying New System

Intel's price per performance is way to high compared to AMD. The new intel 570J can't beat an AMD 3500 however, the intel processor cost hundreds of dollars more. Even really good deals at Dell can't make up the difference. For right now AMD is the way to go.

Looks good. If you plan to replace you hard drives down the road, why not just get one Seagate 200GB 7200RPM SATA HD now and add the 2nd in later.

Want to Build a Wooden Computer Case

I would think you would want to build a wood case around the normal metal frame guts of a computer case. Put a door infront of the drives and have it open to a black inside finish.

SLI using Different brands of the same card

A few cycles from now, people might be able to do that. That's the day I'm looking forward to. Adding any video card you wish, instead of replacing. Big win for everyone if and when it happens.

    Good PSU?

Don't be so sure, you would be stuned by all the things that go on in the manufacturing world. Even with big reputable names. Big reputable manufactures fool their customers all the time.

    Good PSU?

Corporations play all kinds of games and so do sellers. It's hard to know exactly what your getting for many products. Competitors often make products for each other and you never know about it.

    Good PSU?

If you read the thread I posted you would see lots of talk about that too. It's still not 100 percent either way. Anyhow, lot's more info in the other thread. Including people who have called ultra and asked. Powermax may or may not even be a manufacture.

    Good PSU?

From the above link: "Ultra-X (yes, the pretty looking ones, they are really rebranded powmax!!!)" There are a lot of threads that talk about this. Many say the above, but some have presented strong arguments that this is not the case. What is really true, I don't know. Here is a thread...

    LCD's Backlight

From what I have seen, all LCD's are bright. It's one of their features. The bad, as you found out, it's too bright for dark rooms. Also that brighness in a dark room is bad for your eyes. If you got an LCD, turn on a light.

Is SLI just a fad or will the computers of the future all be standard with SLI?

SLI could well turn into a standard. Right now SLI is young. Nvidia's SLI has some restrictions but, ATI has stated that their SLI solution won't require same cards to work. If this pans out, it could be a win fall for all of us. Most people are still only using one video card. Imagine...

    New Rig I am building

A lot depends on what you want to use your computer for. You mentioned 6600GT's. You have a lot of choices just with that alone. AGP or PCI-E An SLI mother board where you could add another 6600GT, following Nvidia's requirements, down the road. Of course you can still replace that card...

    New Rig I am building

    New Rig I am building

If you want to run at higher resolutions with AA and AF turned on then 2 video cards in SLI has advantages. 2 video cards in SLI doesn't improve how fast the game runs per say. It just allows you to run at better graphics setting without loss to FPS. This has a cost - a second video card...
