I updated the BIOS from 1004 to the latest 1101 which didn't help.
I've systematically replaced pretty much all the components and the CPU is the only thing left at this time.
I'll have to rip up everything to get to the CPU before calling Intel because they want all the numbers on it for the RMA. Probably another week before any update on this saga.
RAM: tried moving to different slots, tried one stick at a time, ran MemTest for 8 hours with no error. Installed a different pair of Kingston RAM and still got random reboot. So I ruled out my G.Skill as the problem.
Here's a funny thing. I set Vcore in the BIOS to be 1.35v. These are the readings I get:
CPU-Z = 1.312v
Speedfan = 1.31v
PC Probe = 1.31v
Which one do I trust? Am I still low?
I left Asus PC Probe on as I ran Orthos and there was this window that came up after a few minutes:
PC Probe Warning
Vcore Voltage
Vcore was sitting at 1.29v. Is that low?
Here?s my original part list:
Asus P5B Deluxe
E6600
Tuniq Tower 120
G.Skill PC2 6400 2G
XFX 7600GS Fanless
Antec P180
Antec Neo HE550
Raptor 74G
Samsung DVD IDE
XP Pro OEM
I carefully built up the system and began experiencing random reboot problem. No particular software can...
I notice Firefox is doing this to other websites as well in a random manner. Take eBay for instance. I can see the favicon in the address bar and the tab but not in the bookmark toolbar.
I did your experiment and it worked great .... for the Anandtech site, but not for my website. I can see my favicon in the address bar and the tab but it will not stick to the bookmarks or the bookmark toolbar. :( :( :(
I just launched my website with a favicon using the favicon.ico file in the public folder. Firefox displays this favicon just fine in the address bar and in the browsing tab. However, when I bookmark it, it doesn't show in the bookmark? How come? I tried deleting the bookmark, clear the cache...
Dang it, eveything was going smooth as silk and then this happened. This is a new build - Asus P4C-800E Deluxe with Raptor 36 as the boot drive. The Raptor is SATA1 off the Intel controller (not Promise). No other drive is connected. I successfully installed XP Pro on the Raptor with no...
Excuse me but what is this "TY" stuff that everyone seems to get so excited about? Who makes TY? What does TY stand for? And how do you know if you've got a TY? Thanks.
My two rebates were received on 12/20/04. I called yesterday 3/7/05 for status and they said "the check is in the mail" and call back if you haven't got it by the end of the month - WTF! We'll see in a few days what transpire.
This is the end of MIRs for me. It's a helpless feeling...
There's a coupon right now for %35 off $1399 or more on the new Inspiron 6000. I'm not in a hurry to get a laptop - sometime this year is OK. Should I jump on this or hold out for a better deal? Can it get any better than %35? Thanks.
I know this is yet another "which RAM is mo betta" thread but I'm a dummy so please bear with me. I need 2X1G for the Asus to go with a 3.0 Northwood. Geil Value series at $355 or Mushkin EM series at $362? Much obliged...
Keep in mind you can't send an envelope first class and have delivery confirmation. It has to be a "parcel" - at least 3/4" thick. Using an envelope and certified mail with online return receipt will cost you close to $4.
Are you saying a 7200 SATA is no different than a 7200 IDE to store files with?
What PCI controller do you recommend? Are these also called "RAID" controller?
Please excuse the dumbo question. I'm planning to use one SATA drive for the System and another SATA for digital image processing (photoshop). Problem is, I need more mass storage for archiving my files. I suppose I could use IDE hard drives but prefer the speed of SATA. How can I add more...
I made the mistake of buying a copy of MS Frontpage 2003 for some web page editing. I installed it and activated it via the internet. It's not meeting my needs (...cough, cough, ...Dreamweaver MX, cough, cough...) so I want to sell it. Can I somehow 'unactivate' it and make its license available...
