Thanks for your replies. I`m from Malta, an island in the Mediterranean and for something as heavy as a case I`m in practice limited to what I find from local retailers since the shipping costs on such a heavy case would be prohibitive. Thats teh reason why I`m just looking at the RV01 and not...
Hi,
I currently own a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case and I`m seeking on replacing it with something better. My main issue with the Tsunami case is that its too small to accommodate long graphic cards. The end of my card obstructs access to the HD rack. I definitely don't want to face such...
From scanning for wireless networks from the phone i noticed that most routers in my area were broadcasting on channels 1 or 11 so I thought 6 was the best option. However I did try to switch to 1 and 11 but as I thought 6 was (a bit) better.
Guess my problem is essentially stone walls...
I`m a bit new to wireless networking so need some help here:
My current setup is 3 desktop computers connected via ethernet plus a laptop and an iphone connected via wifi-G to a VERY cheap MSI wireless router. The setup "works" but i have many blackspots in the house and rather frequent loss...
Need some help deciding which motherboard to get from the following:
Gigabyte GA P35-DS3L
ASUS P5K SE iP35
Asus P5KC
Foxconn P35A
What I need is something which is solid and reliable and of good design (no chunky video cards hitting heat sinks etc).
What I dont need is...
Hello,
my old PSU just died on me and I went off and bought a Xlico 850W new PSU. The problem is that I have an Asus A8N-SLI mobo and this needs an ATX 12V 4 pin PSU connection....and my new PSU doesnt seem to have one!
any idea what to do?
Please help, I'm pretty stuck!
Hello all,
I am having problems fitting my new 8800GTS video card on my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard due to a zalman 47mm shipset heat sink which I had to install due to the asus chipset fan dying out. My first approach was to replace teh heatsink with something which would allow the...
Guess I might go for it...even if the price more than doubles for me because of the postage, however if someone has any alternative solution please let me know because i`d really like to avoid paying 50+ usd on achipset heat sink when I dont even overclock.
Thanks for the reply. It would come a bit pricey for me with postage and all, but will take it as my last resort. I was wondering if some simple low profile chipset fan would do the trick...such as the akasa one I stumbled into.
Hello, I own a A8N SLI mobo, and some time back the fan was making loads of noise so I replaced with a zalman 47 heatsink. However I just bought myself a 8800GTS 640MB videocard, and the card wont fit because of the high heatsink!
It wont be until january next year when i`ll upgrade my...
I know that low tech solutions are generally frowned upon in high tech fora, but a good ole paper and pencil to write down the page numbers does the trick.
If however you hate pencils you can rename your pdf file with the page number you arrived at, that works too ;-)
Just an update:
Problem solved, it was the dying Hitachi SATA drive (3months old!) I replaced it with a Samsung SATA 2 200Gb drive and things were working quite well except for another error (warning actually) Error 51: wndows paging to drive 0. After searching some forums I solved the error...
I didnt have time to test drivers one by one yet, however I did try using the sc query command at the command prompt. I got:
IPSEC Services error (above) Win32 exit code 0 (service running)
Fips error (above) Win32 exit code No 31 (service stopped)
anyone knows what this means?
It just did it again and I also found these two other errors as soon as I rebooted:

I tried the Hitachi tool both the quicktest and advanced test and got no errors. I also enabled SMART in my bios because it was disabled. Will try the seagate tool too.
In the meantime can someone explain to me what is fips?
I ran memtest and everything was fine and I also ran chkdsk /r and all was fine too. However now I am remembering that sometimes (rarely) when the problem was occuring windows ran a chkdsk itself however it was a 3 stage test rather than a 5 stage test as I just carried out. I also remember...
Thanks, I didnt try memtest yet, I will give it a go.

Basically my rig is as follows:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
2x512MB Memory

Windows XP Home SP2
When I set up this rig some six months ago, everything worked fine, but suddenly I started getting a BSOD on windows startup. The computer then reboots and settles back in the screen where...
Excuse the silly rather off topic question.....
Just successfully updated my A8N-SLI bios for the first time. I know the bios was updated because the boot up picture changed, however how can I confirm the bios version installed? Where can I read off the bios version number?
Ignore topic.
Resolved. I plugged in the front speakers in the wrong jack and windows only uses front speakers to play system sounds. So that explains it all.
New build:
Asus A8N-SLI (using on board sound)
WInXP Home Sp2
A64 3500+
5.1 Speakers
The problem is that I cannot get any windows system sounds. I have no problems listening to mp3s in the media player, and the device manager showns no problems at all. The control panel sound setting is...
Hello,
I just spent half my day building my very first rig but now I got stuck.
Specs:
Asus A8n-SLI
A64 3500+
Hitachi 160GB SATA hard drive
Win XP SP2 Install disk
Well on booting, the computer recognises that there is a hard drive and I can even set it up as a JBOD in the Raid...
I am a bit concerned about the PSU and Asus SLI mobo. From what I read, the mobo uses a 24 pin connector and although I went through the Thermaltake site I couldnt figure if the 400W True Silent Power PSU in that case has one of these connecotrs or one of the older ones. Doe anyone have a clue...
Sure, I am from Malta, which is an island in the Mediterranean.
The only european site which has decent prices that I know about is www.overcolockers.co.uk However I am a bit reluctant to order that way because I`d have to face pretty steep postage charges and a couple of weeks waiting time...
Thanks
I`m not from the US and new hardware takes a good while to get available here. That`s the reason why I got fed up waiting and settled for the only nforce4 board I have available which unfortunately is the SLI one.
The brand of the memory is Super Talent. Probably mainstream its...
This is what I intend ordering and would love any advice or opinions before departing with my heavily sweated cash :)
The system is to be used for general purpose and the only intensive application I`m into is gaming.
