    Someone explain this...

Is it just me or does it seem that all manufacturers are selling laptops with ram slower than the FSB? Does this make that much of a difference on the Core 2 Duo? And does anyting sell one with matching ram and fsb speeds?

    Parallels - Alternative OS's

I've been using Parallels on my XP rig for a while now, runs better than VMWare in my opinion on my aging Barton 2600+. I can run Ubuntu and a couple older MS OS's at the same time without skipping a beat.

Question about Time Warner Cable/RoadRunner and placement of router/cable modem

I wouldn't say should work, might work is better. It depends on how they have it wired. DC Taps and spliters can raise hell with stable connections. But you can try it. :)

    Leviton residential Telephone/networking/video panels

I have used these on several occasions. If you have custom stuffs you need to put in there I suggest the 24x36(iirc) which comes with a plywood backing for screwing your stuff down. You can get the larger panel with plywood cheaper than you can get the panels with the pre punched holes in the...

NOT HOT: newegg now ships UPS by default

UPS supporter here. I ALWAYS have to go down the street after 4pm and pick them up becuase the driver doesn't feel like coming up my drive, instead he just runs up and smacks a tag on my door. I've never had Fedex leave a package, not once. And I can recall having to pickup stuff on 8 different...

    Question Concerning Linksys Vonage Hardware

Ok, here's the deal. A buddy of mine has a WRT54g and has 4 computers hooked up to it. Now, he wants to add a Linksys Vonage router to the mix AND add a 5th networked device. The question is, can I uplink to the Vonage hardware to the switched ports from the WRT54g and access Vonage through the...

Wired & Wireless LAN Not Allowing Multiplayer Gaming

Are you sure your "switch" is a switch? I've seen similar problems with people doing Router---> Wireless Router. So perhaps double NAT is messing with your world. Just an idea. What models of hardware are you running BTW?

    Windows 2000 **FIXED**

Slipstreaming is pretty much a fancy way of updating the install files before you install them onto the CD, search google for it, you'll come up with plenty of tutorials. Well since it only partitioned it as 137Gb, you'd have to use a utility after your SP4 install to resize the partition or...

Possible to bind 2 cable modem connections?

The general answer to that is no. You could only do simple load balancing and failover with two connections of that type. I'm sure someone else might have other suggestions. But as for creating more bandwidth by bonding them, no way. :D

Trouble getting TV display full screen

If it has a black border around everything, Look for overscan in the options. It should fill right out. I'm not sure if the current Nvidia cards have it. My old Ti300 didn't. But look around.

    SB 5100 problems

I had a similar problem once, but it happened when they had the DC Tap hooked up backwards and then added Digital Telephone in my area. If you're wired with a DC tap, try reversing the "tap" and "out" legs. You're looking for a little 2-way splitter type looking thing. Fixed my problems after...

Ok I so pickup this 250gig Maxtor monster, come home, throw it in the machine to see if it works. It does, cool, windows detects it, formats it, its usuable. I run some benchmarks on it, like what I see and then proceed to start an OS install on the drive. So I go through the motions, remove all...

    Sending Power over LAN Cables?

I made some a whille back for powering a switch in the basement where I couldn't get power to. I followed a NYCWireless Article on how to make POE injectors. If you're savvy, you can do it very easily, and they work like a champ, and I only have about $5 in parts into them. I'm using the switch...

    Splitter bad?

Don't use a splitter in this case. Use a DC Tap. One leg has high loss(the tv side) while the other has virtually none. I know my Home Depot carries them. Radio Shack also.
