Is this possible? I work from home and my cable company's service has generally been beyond terrible. I have no other options where I live and outages cost me a lot of $$ during working hours, so I absolutely need to do something different.
My question is can I just buy an EVDO router and...
Well a week or two ago we were hit with a pretty bad lighting storm...and like the idiot I am :) I had one of those s#!tty power strips that do practically nothing for surges.
Anyways...our power cycled on and off a few times while my rig was running. After the power came back on I tried to...
I just finished a new build...and I moved all the files I wanted over to my secondary drive before stripping down my old machine. Everything is working fine...but the secondary drive is now asking to be formatted whenever I try to access it. It was previously formatted in NTFS and when I got to...
I've been doing a bit of shopping for a combo amp, and I was wondering if any of you other guitar guys have recommendations for a decent tube amp in the $300-600 range. I was looking at some of the Traynors, but I don't know much about them. What else should I look at?
Here
Newegg has it for the same price without free shipping...so this deal is really only warm. A nice alternative if somebody doesn't want to go with the NEC 3540 deals that have been going around. :)
I still use P95 on all of my systems, but I was wondering how good of a stability test Super PI actually is. If it passes the 32M test...how stable is it? Which components does Super PI stress more heavily?
I found this baby at a local pawn shop for $150. I'm always skeptical of used stuff especially at pawn shops, but they have a 7 day return policy so I figured I'd atleast give it a shot.
Any of you guitar guys have experience with this amp?
Also, does anybody have recommendations for a...
Well I recently sold a stick of ram on these forums and shipped it USPS insured. The ram arrived DOA; however, it was working properly before I shipped it. The buyer sent it back and sure enough...it was dead.
Now there is no sign of physical damage from shipping, so what (if any) recourse...
I just ordered an E6 Venice w/ the Neo2-F and didn't even think about the possibility that the board might not support it. Does anybody know if it does? Does the "F" version use the same bios as the Platinum?
I don't have another 939 chip lying around, so if it won't post with the E6 I might...
Well I've been out of the loop for a while...so some of the newer 939 stuff is foreign to me.
I need a budget 939 setup. It needs to overclock fairly well. It needs to have AGP.
Here is what I was considering:
3000+ Venice - $146 at ZZF
EpoX 9NDA3J - $90 @ ZZF
What do y'all think...
Well I didn't want to cross-post this, but I thought maybe some of you guys over here might have a few ideas.
This is on a:
3200+ Clawhammer @ default
Chaintech VNF3-250
2 x 512 Geil PC4000 Ultra @ 200 mhz (2.5-4-4-10)
Well I just swapped out motherboards yesterday and went ahead with...

2 x 512 Geil PC4000 Ultra @ 200 mhz (2.5-4-4-10)
Well I just swapped out motherboards yesterday and went ahead with a fresh copy of windows. Now whenever I try to run Windows Update or during other random semi-resource intensive...
I've been having a weird problem on a friend of mine's rig. It's been running abnormally slow lately, and I was tinkering around trying to find the problem. Under the system tab it only shows 256 MB of ram; however, in CPU-Z the full gig is properly being displyed.

You might have read my thread about my TCCD not overclocking worth a damn at 1T....but my results at 2T have been pretty impressive.
300 Mhz
Oh by the way this is Corsair XMS XL 512 stick. I ran it up to 290 at 2.5-3-3-6 before it wouldn't post. Laxed the timings to 3-4-4-8 at 300 HTT and...
Like the title says.
This stick does 270+ at 2.5-3-3 at 2T, but it won't even do 230 at the same timings w/ 1T command rate. What's the deal? I've tried 2.6-2.9 volts makes no difference. It does do 2-2-2 at 200 w/ 2.7 volts memtest stable so I don't think it's just a bad stick. This is the...
Just got in 2 3000+'s NC today from ZZF, and the one chip I tried is really bad. :(
My other 3000+, 2 2800+'s, and the 2 Sempron 3100's I've tried have all done 2.4 ghz usually on stock cooling with no more than 1.6-1.65 vcore.
I popped this bad boy in....won't even do 2400 mhz even at 1.7...
Well I've been messing around with this Corsair XL. I was getting very frustrated as I've seen many reviews showing 260+ fsb at 2.5-3-3 timings with this stuff.
I couldn't get mine to boot into Windows at 230 even at 2.5-3-3-6 @ 1T. I tried 2.7, 2.8, and 2.9 vdimm and that didn't seem to...
Well I finally got my Sempron setup back together and wanted to run it through a few benches and share it with everybody here.
The setup:
Sempron 3100+ w/ retail cooler
Chaintech VNF3-250
512 Corsair XL
Bios settings:
Vcore - 1.6
HTT - 267
LDT - 3x
Vchipset - 1.7
Vdimm - 2.7
Ram...
I've noticed people complaining about Ballistix oc'ing being hit or miss. After the excellent reviews from AT, I was just wondering what the deal is now? Are people shying away from Ballistix? What kind of OC's/timings are people getting?
Are the Samsung chips the preferred choice right now...
I found this in General Hardware:
Edit: Now at 230 FSB stable.

With the latest Abit bios I couldn't get my NF7-S Rev 2 past 210 fsb or so without getting blue-screened. I had decided that the newer NF7's just sucked at fsb overclocking. Well anyways...I just tried...
I just pulled 2 sticks of 512 OCZ Gold running 2-3-3-11 out of my NF7 and stuck in this HyperX PC3000 that could possibly be BH-5. It's currently running 200 fsb @ 2-2-2-11 on 2.7v and it seems relatively stable...although I haven't gotten around to running memtest. It ran the prime95 blend test...
I'm having a debate with a friend of mine about this. Between these two setups...which should theoretically be faster?
P4 2.4C @ ~ 3.5 ghz
P4 2.8C @ same
Since the multipliers are locked obviously the fsb on the 2.4 would be much higher...which in theory should increase performance. But...
I currently have an Allied 400W that says only 12 amps on the 12v rail which seems abysmally low. It's been running the system in my sig for a month or two now with no problems and several other systems before it. I'm in the process of getting a True 480, but my question is will my current PSU...
I had a few questions before I decide to throw down some cash for another rig.
1) I've decided on the 2.8C, but I was wondering if I would be guaranteed an M0 stepping if I bought from newegg. Does it matter if I go OEM or Retail?
2)I think I'm pretty set on the IC7...unless somebody can...
I'm trying to put another rig together for my roommate, and I was wondering which setup to go with.
1)P4 2.8C (and hope to get the M0 stepping...is this pretty much guaranteed from Newegg?) w/ the IC7 Max3
OR
2)Mobile Barton (not sure on which one yet...which would be best?) w/ an NF7-S...
Ok I have an extra pc that I want to hook up to my TV in my living room. I have a surround receiver, but would like to wire the rest of the house to an external amplifier. I have looked around and haven't been able to find many receivers like this.
All I want is a receiver that can push maybe...
I know everybody says go with a good brand name...but what exactly should I be looking for on the spec sheet? Do I want more current on the 12v rail or what? Do the new gen vid cards draw from the 12v rail or something else? Probably a pretty dumb question I've just never seen a really good...
Does anybody know how good ATI tool is at catching artifacts? So far it overclocked my mem to 380 and is slowly backing its way down. How long should I run it?
Even on my rig Far Cry becomes a little choppy at 1280 x 1024 with full aa/af on, so I switched to 1600 x 1200 with no aa/af and it seems to run a lot smoother. Which gives better IQ?
...for the sytem in my sig. I have some store credit at my local computer store, and I was wondering what I should waste...err spend it on. :)
I've had my eye on a 74 gb Raptor and an Audigy 2 that should put me right around $300. I have to spend it by this weekend, so any other opinions?
Well i've been using the onboard audio on my K8V until I find the money for an Audigy...but I forgot that I had an spdif out on this motherboard. I use a home theater receiver for my sound and I had always had the speaker out going into the rca inputs on my receiver. I hooked up my receiver to a...
On the mobile A64 chips? I saw that newegg now carries the mobile chips, and I heard that they are multiplier unlocked like the mobile bartons. Can anybody confirm this?
...in Counter-strike? I just sold my 9700 Pro and am temporarily using a 5200 I had lying around. I get a consistent 100 fps...and it never drops except for ocassionally in thick smoke. I used to get huge frame rate drops with my 9700 Pro on this exact same setup. I've heard people having issues...
