    zotac video card warranty page

Apologies if this is the wrong forum. I ordered a ZOTAC ZT-X26E3KD-FCP GeForce GTX 26 from newegg. I have to register at zotac.com within 30 days to get my 2 years warranty, but their warranty page says to "select your region", but they list no regions. I checked in multiple browsers to...

I bought a NEC DVD writer from NewEgg which I want to refund. After I submit the RMA refund form, what happens? Am I presented with an RMA number to print, cut out, and paste to the shipping box? Do they email me RMA instructions? Do they postal mail me an RMA sticker to affix to my...

HD enclosures: 3.5 (no fan, aluminum) vs. 5.25 (with fan)

I need to buy a hard drive enclosure. Should I opt for a 3.5 no fan aluminum, or a 5.25 with a fan? I'm particularly concerned with fan noise coming from a 5.25. The device'll be about 4 feet away from me.

RE: Paper CD/DVD sleeves... What is the "throat"?

I was looking to buy some CD sleeves and started browsing some ebay auctions. I came across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em&category=41799&item=5186517542&rd=1 where it mentions a "a 7/16" throat (the space in between the top of the flap and the back opening)" What is the...

Where can I get a 5.25 inch floppy drive?

I'm having trouble finding a 5.25 inch floppy drive. I have a new PC so I need to be able to actually connect it. I can't find one online that I can confirm is actually compatible. I need to read about a dozen 5.25 inch floppies.

Recommend digital postage scale. Capacity of 50-80 pounds?

I considered buying either an UltraShip #50 or UltraShip #75 scale from ebay, but I'd like to hear some feedback here first. I need to ship some heavy items (70 pounds) and some light items (0.5-0.8 ounces) such as DVD's & CD's.

Need 100-200 CD paper sleeves. Recommend a store.

I need 100-200 paper CD sleeves. What store has the best prices? Also, if anyone can recommend a small case that will hold 200 discs, while in their sleeves, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Power off LCD: directly via power button or OS's Power Options function?

My control panel "Power Options" setting is set to "Turn Off Monitor" after 30 minutes of PC inactivity (no keyboard/mouse movements). Is it better to turn the LCD off directly (ie, clicking the LCD's power off button) instead of letting Windows do it via the "Power Options" function? I have a...

How long does it take the CPU to cool down when PC off?

I read somewhere on this forum, the CPU reaches high temperatures in 10 seconds and without a heatsink attached, could explode. After I power off the computer, how long do I have to wait for the processor to cool down before safely removing the heatsink from the CPU?

I've read several DIY guides and these are the varying CPU & HSF installation method: 1) Outside the case, horizontally, onto the motherboard. 2) Inside the case, horizontally (the case lying on its side), onto the motherboard 3) Inside the case, vertically (the case standing upright), onto...

Just for storage: Maxtor 300GB or Seagate 300GB?

There's been much discussion about what's the fastest drive and what's the most reliable drive. Maxtor appears to have the worst reputation while Seagate has the best. Let's assume you had the choice between using one of the below 300GB drives for storage purposes only (ie, mp3's, video...

Hard drive failures: gradual or instant?

Instructions for removing fresh, retail Intel Pent. 4 thermal pad

I've searched the forums and there has been talk of removing thermal grease/compound with isopropyl alcohol. I've ordered a Intel LGA 775 Pentium 4 540 3.2 GHz and, as I understand it, the heatsink has a thermal pad already applied. Since I plan to slightly overclock the CPU (about 200+ Mhz) I...

I'm torn and on a budget. I'll be building a new PC next week and will be ordering the Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB SATA with 16MB cache. I have about 200MB of mp3's & video files for storage. Should I partition the 300MB Maxtor like so: C: OS (winXP SP2) installed here (20-40 GB) D...

Best satellite speakers (aka, 2-channel) (no subwoofer)

I need a pair of satellite speakers for my desk. I don't want a subwoofer. I've been using these 12-watt Harman/Kardon speakers that came shipped with my Dell 5 years ago. I consider the sound quality of those speakers to be decent, which goes to show you how picky I am. I was considering...

PSU advice: Fortron 400W or 500W for my configuration?

400 Watt or 500 Watt? If the 400 Watt is sufficient for my system below, then I'd sooner go with that then spending an additional $12.49 for the 500 Watt. Yes, I'm a cheapskate, but every penny saved makes a difference. I'll be using this system for basic business apps & occassional dvd...

Mobo supports 4 Sata's, but PSU only supports 2

I'm going to be building my first PC soon, but I'm worried about the PSU limiting the number of SATA drives I can use. Based on the PSU & MoBo below, am I right in thinking that I can't use more than 2 Sata's with that PSU? If so, is there any way around this such as a SATA equivalent to an IDE...

Video Card & Mid-Range Jan 2005 article question

I plan to build an intel system based on anandtech's latest mid-range guide. The article recommended the XFX nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT AGP 128MB, which is a little too pricey for me considering I'm a non-gamer who occasionally watches divx/xvid and dvd's on my PC. Could someone please recommend a...
