yes, its normal for the motherboard to flex after the HSF installation. Its also important to check if all four clips are totally seated. Otherwise, you'll run into overheating problems from a bad install.

well, if you configured your mb(options ihe bios are: ahci(full sata), ide, raid) to treat your sata hds as ide hds, then you won't be able to use the SATA features such as NCQ, hot-swap, etc.

he's right. most stores don't stock them except for Outpost.com. That mobo has been updated to the the socket 775 variant called the ECS 848P-A7. So yea, just get it from Outpost and save yourself the drive.

    Software RAID vs. Hardware RAID

don't even bother with Windows XP's for raid(it's slow). If you want hardware RAID 0, 1, or 0+1, a 20 to 50 dollar card will work better. expect to spend 100+ dollars for a raid 5 card.

Will this card work in a 32-bit/33mhz slot?

PCI-X and PCI are supposedly compatible with each other. i.e. PCI card in PCI-X slot or PCI-X card in PCI slot. Here's a nice tutorial: http://www.digi.com/pdf/prd_msc_pcitech.pdf

Popular Mechanics' Monster PC - What would you build with $7500?!

actually the new A64s support ddr400 with all slots filled unlike before. so unless you're ocing, it should be fine. also, for those that don't know, 'Italy' is the codename for the new dual-core Opteron for two way systems. this means you can get 4 processors with only two sockets.

  34. E

    Quick sound card stuff

first, all sound cards have DSP. second, only Creative cards have full hardware support for EAX(surround sound/FX for games), which means lower cpu load/faster fps. third, the sound quality of onboard sound is crap compared to a discrete sound card because its not equipped with a high quality...

NForce 4 Raid 0 Stability (General)

well, i guess you can say with RAID 0, you're twice as likely to lose data. This means you just cut your system's or data storage reliability in half. Example: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=27&threadid=1542729&enterthread=y
