So, your 401K is tanking, what can you do?

As an example: You invest $100/month into a mutual fund for retirement. Assume last month the price was $100/share. That means you bought one share last month. This month the price is only $90, so you get to buy 1.11 shares. So, you now have more shares than if the market had stayed constant...

So, your 401K is tanking, what can you do?

The market goes through corrections, they are normal. If you are more than a few years from retirement, don't worry about it. To tell the truth, if a 11% correction scares you out of the market, you shouldn't be investing in stocks to begin with. As a final note, if you are still a long...

How to properly quit job if you have vacation you want to use up first?

Whether your existing coverage will remain valid until the end of the month (if you quit on the 7th) varies by employer. Don't worry about keeping continuous coverage. As long has you do not have a 63 day lapse between health coverage, your new insurance can't have pre-existing condition...

How to properly quit job if you have vacation you want to use up first?

How soon do you start your new job? You can sign up for COBRA within a certain period of time after you quit (I can't remember what the deadline is, but it is at least a few weeks if not longer). If nothing happens to you healthwise, great. If something does happen, you can sign up for COBRA...

YAC(redit)T - If you pay full amount due monthly but always carry...

Depending on the card, it is most likely hurting your score a little bit. Even though you are paying it off every month, your credit report will show that you are using $1000-$1500 out of the $2500. That said, I wouldn't worry about it. If you ever need to get a loan, pay off the entire...

    Basketball vs Football

Depends on what you define as athleticism. Different attributes are needed for each sport. That said, it is much more difficult to play in the NBA than it is to play in the NFL. The NBA has a much larger pool of players to select from and there are many fewer spots available in the league...

Anyone here have a Milk Allergy?

For me the prick showed a positive. However, the allergist said that there was only a 50% chance I was actually allergic. Although I have never gone 100% without dairy for an entire week, I have come close. In addition, I never feel any negative effects after eating a large amount of dairy.

Anyone here have a Milk Allergy?

When I had allergy testing they said I might be allergic to milk. However, I love milk/milk products and don't feel any better when I don't eat them. So...if I really am allergic I don't want to know.

Who should be the highest paid football players?

Why? These guys generate billions of dollars in revenue, they deserve every penny they can get. If people are willing to spend so much watching the NFL the players should be rewarded with their huge contracts.

BCS Ranking Thread (Updated for 10/21/2007)

No, it doesn't. Since each of those team's one losses came from each other, they should have a much tighter grouping. I'm fine with LSU being rated higher than Kentucky since the game went to overtime and was played in Lexington. At a neutral field, LSU most likely wins...however, the gap...

How much of my paid taxes will I get back?

That's not how it works at all. You get to take either the standard or itemized deduction off of the 50k. Assume you take the standard deduction (around 8.5k this year), now you are only taxed on 41.5k. However, the first $7,825 is taxed at 10%, the next $24,025 at 15% and the rest at 25%...

How come NL pitchers swing like pvsies ?

You are taking the top 99.999% of the population in a skill (hitting a baseball), and automatically assuming someone else (a pitcher) can become that good through practice. Would you say the same thing about bringing in a random 2nd baseman to pitch? The fact is, the other players got into the...

Anything I can do? My eye doctor is a bastard.

Part of the problem is that Apple doesn't give you options. If you want a MBP, you are forced to pay for extra features that you may not need (such as dedicated graphics). For example, if you don't need integrated graphics, you can get an HP with the same specs (the HP has a lower screen...

I'm sure that would work. I remember registering online through ETS's website. As for the test, if you were a physics, math, or engineering major, the math will probably be quite easy. At what age are you the fittest?

As an example, in the NBA players tend to be the most athletic in their younger to mid twenties. However, they are generally in their "prime" from about 27-30 or so--although they aren't quite as explosive, they have continued to refine their basketball skills. Past 30, players who relied...

Walmart using 4300 unpaid volunteers in its Mexico stores

What would you suggest? If they are forced to pay "living wages" there is no incentive to establish business in developing countries. It is sad, but right now these people have a choice: low pay or no pay. Eventually as more and more people become employed their wages will start to increase.

Walmart using 4300 unpaid volunteers in its Mexico stores

I agree. Every industrialized country has gone through this phase. Most of us don't realize it because the US and Western Europe went through it so long ago (e.g. the textile industry). Eventually, there will be enough jobs to go around and the people will start demanding and receiving better...
