i tend to agree that it's probably your motherboard reporting it incorrectly. seems to me if temps were to the point of being dangerous you'd see stability problems . my board reports load of 68c when running prime95 sfft. that scared me at first but since i never have any stability issues i've...
My 3500+ newcastle hit a wall @ 2.4ghz and no amount of vcore increase or bios tweaking would let it go further and maintain stability. That's why it's going in my in-laws computer and mine now has a venice.
OK I'm done testing with mine at least until Abit releases bios support. My board definitely has issues with the new memory controller. I get errors in Super PI even at default settings unless I run 2T command rate.

I've tried it with loose timings and mem dividers. Memory is not the issue in my case. I really think it's my cooling holding me back. As far as prime95 stability I hit a wall at 2.6ghz with 1.47 volts. To run 2.7ghz prime stable it's taking me 1.65 volts and heat is the limiting factor for me...
This seems to be my max prime stable with my setup. I do think with better cooling this chip could hit 2.9ghz. Oh well, bit better than my newcastle.

Yeah Prime95 choked on me at that speed. Lowered it to 2.6ghz went to the movies and came back and it was still going after 4 hrs. Right now I'm at 2.7ghz 1.6v. Passed 3Dmark03 and 05. Super PI seems to be working fine now. I don't know what the deal was before. Like I said it was giving errors...
Got my 3500+ Venice from Monarch today. Definitely won't do 2.8ghz on air with stock volts. I did 4 hrs prime stable at 2.6ghz with 1.47volts. 2.7ghz seems to be stable at 1.6volts but my load temp is in the 60's if my motherboard sensor can be trusted. Still playing with it trying to find the...
Things are screwy for me. My board hasn't even put a beta bios out for these cores. I can't 1M Super PI even at default settings but i've gone an hour of prime95 sfft's @ 2850mhz 1.47volts. I think until we start seeing proper bios updates our results are gonna be murky. Which Super PI are you...
Someone over at Xtreme said Monarch told him they got a couple of hundred of the 3700+ in but they have more orders than they do stock so they'll be shipping based on who placed order first.
At least you'll know yours will work as I think Monarch pretests their bundles. I still can't get a response from Abit wether my board will post with a rev e chip.
Bunch of guys at OcUK have been posting results of their 3800's. 3.2ghz stable on air doesn't seem likely.

MonarchJoe,
Can you confirm wether or not the shipment from singapore you were talking about has actually shipped yet? No update from you today, buddy. Makes me nervous. :P
Someone at xtreme is reporting that he received a 3700+ San Diego from Monarch today.

Problem is some etailers cant confirm the 3700+ even exist....check out joemonarch talking about it in the venice thread.....
I think what he was questioning was wether or not it had shipped not if it exists.
Well if the larger L2 cache really doesn't make that much of a difference I might as well go with the venice. Monarch has them shipping sooner and I'm a little concerned about how long it might take Abit to release a bios compatible with San Diego.
