I know this thread is almost a month old, so my apologies for bumping it. I came across it running Google searches...
I just wanted to say that I have that exact same memory, and I'm having the exact same problem.
My i7 system has been up for two days, so I'm just starting to feel it...
Recently I upgraded both my monitor and my video card to an eVGA 8800GT SSC and Samsung 226BW.
After I install my video card and get it configured, I fire up Eve Online and go to check it out. At first I notice and odd "bluring" effect on the "clouds" in the background when I move the screen...
Ah dammit... this is my first overclock so I was really hoping I was making some rookie mistake. I've been searching these forums and Google like crazy with absolutely no luck.
Thanks for the link, I'll see if I can do anything with it.. :)
At least it went past 219.
I can't seem to get higher than 245x9 and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Currently I'm running the 166 divider. I can drop the divider to 150 which brings my memory in check, but if I increase the FSB speed more than 245 it will post, but never make it to Windows. vcore is set at +3.3%...
I just overclocked for the first time, PC specs in sig.
I got it to 2205 MHz on the stock fan. At full load temp is stable at 50C. Doesn't seem like I can do much else with it. I can't get it to boot if I lower the RAM:FSB divider anymore than it is. I can't increase the voltage or I'll...
I just installed an MSI K8N to replace my buggy DFI NF4 Ultra-D. I also upgraded my PSU to a 480w Antec NeoPower.
It was quite possibly the easiest, smoothest install ever. The only problem I had was that the board didn't like my USB mouse/keyboard, even when plugged into PS/2 with...
12x10 runs great with the 6600GT on high settings, unless when you say "high settings" you include "AA/AF" to that.
If you want 12x10 or higher with AA/AF you need something more powerful than a 6600GT. But with the current crop of games, possibly excluding Doom 3 (I haven't played it), the...
If I had a 9700 I'd try to string it along until the next generation of cards was released so I can get maximum performance out of Battlefield 2 when it's released. But that's just me.
I used zip ties to secure my Vantec Stealth as my intake fan. Probably not the most elegant setup, but it was frustration free.
I had to pull the stock fan out to get my motherboard in the case and after dealing with those rubber bits that secure the fan once I really didn't feel like...
I bought a Vantec Stealth and left the stocker in the exhaust. I had a cheap, generic slot fan that I dropped in under the video card just to see if it would make a difference. Seems to be working great, not too loud.
Ok, so you're going to blame Microsoft for not having included SATA support (a relatively new technology) on their XP install disks from the very first day XP was released? That's just silly.
I've been using XP for a few years now and I have yet to touch a floppy disk.
The level of...
Something to consider is that if you plan on buying a new monitor you're probably going to need the hardware to push at least a 1280x1024 resolution setting since CRT's are going out of style. I think this is going to further push older video cards into obsolescence a little more quickly.
Of...
I read somewhere that the worst thing you could do to a LiIon battery is to run it 100% dry.
But the Verizon tech I talked to when I bought my new phone said that every time you hit "full" on the battery it's like taking a tick away from it's life.
So for my phone I bought a second...
Between those two I'd go with the Hyundai for the DVI.
I like my Samsung 710N, but I just can't seem to get it to look quite right. It looks good, don't get me wrong, but I'm having a rough time getting the colors sorted out.
Example... here at work on my DVI Dell LCD the forum text is...
What's the difference between running a 1:1 compared to 5:4 or whatever?
What are the consequences of not matching the FSB between memory and CPU?
I ask this because I just don't know, and I'm fairly certain that in stock configuration the parts I chose aren't running at 1:1. So I'm...
I was poking around and found this thread...

You may have read it already, but it's new to me as I'm relatively new to these forums.
*shrug*
Well then... S754 may be the right choice. I built my PC on a budget and I really didn't consider $50 to be all that much. I guess different people have different sized wallets.
*edit* -> concerning RAM... these guys know more than I do about the subject, but I'd like to...
It's dumb that some of us would rather not change our motherboards as often as we change our underwear? (you do change your underwear, right?)
I'm reading these threads and I'm not under the impression that anybody doubts the fact that S754 can perform just as good for a small amount less...
A few years ago I had a few Maxtor drives fail on me at work. But that was a while ago.
I've always used Western Digital drives in my home PC. They've given me no problems, so I'm likely to stick with the brand.
S754 vs. S939...
The question is, in a year do you want to be one generation behind, or two? In a year or so, whenever the next socket type is being introduced your reasonable S939 upgrade options will likely measurably faster than the fastest S754 chip available.
Maybe I'm wrong, but...
I've been using a dual screen setup with a CRT sitting next to an LCD for years at work and I can't say that I find one to be easier on the eyes than the other. I personally think the LCD looks better, but that's for another discussion...
Concerning refresh rate settings... reference your manual and run what it recommends, because it isn't always 60hz. My Samsung 710N has to run at 75hz or it looks like crap.

I don't mean to take this off topic... but for your listed goals this system is some serious overkill.
If you just want the satisfaction of knowing that you've got the best stuff you can get, that's completely understandable. Just seems like you're going overboard.
Sorry for the...
Alright, I know this isn't much, but scroll to the bottom of the page and read the second to last paragraph...

I've been running searches on Google and it seems that others are having this same issue.
