    Unlocker

I'm just worred that revo-uninstaller is the same kind of "spyware" program. I'm very suspicious of all freeware applications in that regard.

As seen in bold I did that. Unlocker didn't solve my problem so I don't want it anymore.

    Unlocker

I'm running Windows XP 32-bit. I installed unlocker to try and get my utorrent program to work right (long story short I got that working, not with unlocker). I didn't find unlocker useful so I uninstalled it. I checked my msconfig and the program still starts up when my computer starts up...

    Freeware programs and applications (continuation)

When I check my startup programs in msconfig this continues to open when your computer starts even when you uninstall it. I disabled it but I still don't know how to get rid of it.

Am I delusional or has DDR2 gone up in price?

It's just what happens to older ram types. They get more expensive.

    iTunes Clipping

I was looking at my PatchMix DSP level meter and it shows that iTunes at full volume clips the music. Just thought some people out there would be interested in knowing this. So I would suggest upping your volume not using iTunes.

    Home Recording

If the levels are at all in the red the music sounds clipped. I'm just wondering how the music industry clips their music but yet it ends up sounding really good and not clipped. The reason I want the volume as high as the industry's is because adjusting your volume from one song to the...

    Home Recording

When I record (I'm using Audacity) the music levels at zero, however when I compare the volume to the music industry's music it doesn't even compare with how loud it is. Let me sum that up: My music at zero = too low volume compared to major label music If I level it any higher I get...

    FedEx Mis-shipped

I just thought since Anandtech users buy lots of things on the internet it would be a good question to ask. Doesn't seem like anyone really knows. I have faith in FedEx to make sure the package gets to me and I don't feel like spending a half hour on the phone to ask about mis-shipped.

I was looking at FedEx SmartPost tracking and it said my package was mis-shipped. What exactly does mis-shipped mean?

Any tricks to getting a little less ping with this service. Or maybe even a trick to get more bandwidth. I'm having trouble gaming on this thing, my ping is over 255 on BF2.

    True overclock gains

Your computer is faster for sure, no denying that. But there is a lot going on in a CPU that overclocking does not account for. Such as L1, L2, and L3 cache. And you can't compare one overclock to that of another architecture.

format seems to be taking a long time

I always long format just to make sure all the bits are actually erased and not searchable or detectable. It makes your drive faster in the long run any way, quick format doesn't format the entire drive. I have a 640GB and it did take a little while, about 2 hours total. You probably just...

    Overclocking DDR Dual Channel Ram

The first thing I suggest is downloading Memtest. Have it on your computer even if it's not already installed on your BIOS. If it is on your BIOS I suggest just using the pre installed one even if it is not the newest edition. This just saves some time and frustration. First find out how...

How long does Arctic Silver last?

People have said replace all thermal grease after one year. They claim the stuff never dries out, not the truth. When you take your fans off your going to notice dry thermal grease... not a good thing. Good thermal grease is really important to the life of your computer, it lowers my temps by...

    True overclock gains

I have a AMD 3000+ Venice core at 2701mhz running at about 35 C. I notice maybe 10-25% improvement in speeds. I chipset is running at 300mhz as well, and ram at 2-2-2-5 at 225mhz, 2GB in 2T. What about running Half Life 2/Counter-Strike: Source video test. That test is fairly real world...

    True overclock gains

Just curious if anyone knows how much, for example, I 1gHz overclock on a CPU is actually going to gain the consumer. I have my stuff overclocked and I don't notice a whole lot in using it in a REAL world application. Like to hear what kind of overclocks people are getting these days and on...

what cpu's will we be using in 10 years?

Business class computers will probably stay around. They should be built a little more soundly. Longer lasting hard drives and power supplies to keep the things running. Most business/office use computers don't need to be super fast as businesses are cheap, cheap, cheap. ***Multi-cores are...

How does nehalem affect future Intel offerings?

Eventually quad core is going to work right and take a foot hold. If the software isn't working right for it now then I would say it's not worth your time or the money. I doubt triple core Intels will be released just because Intel is really behind a lot of the programming to make their chips...

what cpu's will we be using in 10 years?

Single "processor" 216 core designs similar to what we are all seeing in the Graphics card industry. This seems to stay a lot cooler and the processor it self needs a program distributor integrated to distribute the tasks on the operating system. Multi-layer pin designs too, the motherboard...

    Resale policy for Office 2007

Which windows OS do I want?

Windows 2000 was basically the same thing as Windows XP. Since you're not getting driver updates (malicious software removal stuff) anymore I'd say get Vista, unless you need weird drivers.

Mac or PC for "?at home studio?"

I decided I'm just going to record in CD quality 16-bit, 44.1khz. ZZounds doesn't look like that great of a website, same prices as guitar center and I'd rather go there. I'm looking around ebay for a 5 1/4" bay for the Audigy 2 ZS. Is the headphone plug on a bass amp use a different...

Mac or PC for "?at home studio?"

Why does it let me record in that audio quality then? I was thinking maybe it was using my using my CPU to crunch that I have no idea. I plan to produce a very high quality (without a real studio) DVD with as high quality of music as an average computer with a DVD drive can play. Is paying...

Mac or PC for "?at home studio?"

X-Fi I'm looking at that sound card. It does 24-bit, has a 1/4" line-in, and does 192khz. Right now I'm recording in 32-bit float and it seems to be working. I'm not actually sure if it's recording at that bit-rate because my sound card doesn't support it as far as I'm aware.

Mac or PC for "?at home studio?"

Basically I need 192khz, the highest bit-rate possible for the money. Nothing M-Audio I can afford even has 192khz. I'm using audicity, I don't plan to use any effects so it works.
